My plan is that I'm going to run these new wheels as my everyday wheels and then put slicks on the ones I currently have for SCCA and DE events.

Suggestion

After you get the wheels, mount a f & r tire, test fit to the car and check clearances, see where and what size spacers if any will be needed.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

11 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

So, I got dragged to Roswell, Georgia by my fiancee for a wedding. As fate would have it, in the week prior I saw some wheels on eBay in that area. I went ahead and pulled the trigger and found the seller to be less than 4 miles from our hotel. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...K%3AMEWAX%3AIT These wheels have offset of 57 and 58. My stock ones have 50 and 65. So I am going to add a 7mm spacer in the front and just have the back be 7 mm wider. Is the the right thing to do? My plan is that I'm going to run these new wheels as my everyday wheels and then put slicks on the ones I currently have for SCCA and DE events. Does this sound like a decent plan? What is my best option for getting racing tires and not spending a fortune? What do y'all use for the track? And why do two of the center caps say Roock Sportsystems?

POST 2Original post

Quotes source post: 7370052

planning and buying are not the same - ask me how I know PS - good plan!

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

And where is the best place to buy the spacers?

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I need 7mm for the front. Stock offset was 50, new wheels are 57.

POST 6Original post

you will need longer bolts too... I got my 7mm from here (free, Thanks Ferd!) and my bolts off ebay though it took a while to find some......at current I have them out.... not sure I will be putting them back in eigher, let me think on it a while and see if I can score on a set of 15's (missed a set this week on CL)

POST 7Original post

After you get the wheels, mount a f & r tire, test fit to the car and check clearances, see where and what size spacers if any will be needed. If you are a seasoned racer and the car is set up suspension wise for slicks, have fun. If not, you'll go faster and become a better driver with DOT tires. Good Luck

POST 8Original post

What are the widths of the front wheels and rear wheels?

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

8 and 10, same as my current wheels.

POST 10Original post

I got my spacers from Ralph Boothe when I needed some years ago. He's a good guy and has been in business for many years offering accessories for Porsche. However, I'm not sure if he still runs and owns the company nowadays. Check it out: http://www.boothedesign.com/spacers.html

POST 11Original post

Was this actually as fate would have it you found the tires there.....???? I think possibly you did your searching in that area like a drowning man clutching for salvation Congratulations on getting married. May I suggest a nice restaurant near a Porsche dealership for your first anniversary dinner out?
