I have two other cars, one a comfortable 2008 MB E350 for family use, yet I find every time I walk to the garage to go somewhere nearby, the 996 wins.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hello,
Tomorrow (March 6) will mark one year of owning my 2000 Speed Yellow 996 Cabriolet. I bought it with 70K miles on on it, and drove it 1200 miles to get home. Since then I have had to buy a new battery, new key fob (only came with 1), new engine lid strut and 1 oil and filter change.
Some random observations:
Speed Yellow Porsches attract a lot of attention
Sometimes this is good, sometimes not
People that don't know cars think my car is new. Not bad for 10 years old and 75K miles
I don't drive it as much as I thought I would. I don't drive all that much to begin with, when my family goes somewhere we take the family car, the 996 isn't fun to drive to the grocery store, and winter weather sucks. Still I thought I would put more than 4500 miles on it (I'm not counting the trip home).
I LOVE driving with the top down
IMHO the 996 is the best bargain out there (at least until my engine blows up)
I was fortunate that I bought my car with new tires, brakes, clutch, and RMS. I expect to need tires soon. The top isn't in great shape - the rear window is starting to crack, but I can live with that. It's a fun car to drive and I anticipate keeping it for a long time.

That's great you are enjoying your car, congrats on the 2 year ownership!
One difference though, is I DO find my 996 is fun to drive to the grocery store - I use mine for every stupid errand there is. I have two other cars, one a comfortable 2008 MB E350 for family use, yet I find every time I walk to the garage to go somewhere nearby, the 996 wins.
I have had my 996 since Nov. '09 and have put over 4,000 miles on it. It is not my DD, but I use mine any time I can. I have really enjoyed the PCA drives.
Your observation doesn't surprise me, but then again I am biased. I continue to enjoy my C4 convertible, especially with the top down in 50 degree weather.
Great ride you got there!
I admit, Speed Yellow was my first color choice and I think the very best Porsche color. In my case, Guards Red was a happy compromise with my fiancee.
+++1... Zip up the leather jacket, put the top down, roll up the windows, set the fan on high and towards the floor and fire-up the heated seats... That will take you down to 50 degrees... best on my morning commute in the dark before dawn...
