Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

This is the drive from the end of my IMS shaft. Is this genuine Porsche or more Quebec butchery???

POST 2Original post

Hard to tell. Even the LN drive looks very similar to the stock one. I could only tell them apaet by weighing them. I'm sure that silver washer is not stock. There's no washer in the OE design.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thank you as ever Ahsai, it's the star washer (?) that made me question the appearance. So "hex key" looks right just not the washer. Another reason I ask is because the IMS tube was full of oil, approx 400ml, so I'm wondering if something else is amiss.

Most likely your OE IMSB seals have failed. Buy a LN Engineering hex drive to replace your modified one.

Thank you another thing to add to the list!

POST 6Original post

Can you show us a pic of the IMS where the key is inserted? There's a thin seal on the IMS end that prevents this key from falling into the IMS. When ppl do the direct feed imsb retrofit, a small hole is punctured on this seal so oil will be forced into the tube. I wonder if this seal is compromised so a star washer was used to hold the hex key in place. That's one scary patch. If the key falls into the tube, no oil pressure and instant dealth of engine. Would be nice to send the IMS to LN engineering for them to repair and pin the sprockets.

Something is rattling in the IMS tube, probably the seal. We will see once the bearings are removed. Explains the large quantity of oil in there!!
