Chances are that someone here can recommend a cheaper alternative from a Indy near you.

I'm thinking DIY oil change & brakes after that...
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

It takes a steady hand, but it worked great and it makes the wheels look brand new.
This has been a dream of mine since I could walk... As of Jan 3 I am a proud owner of this a 1999 911 C2!

Bose, 6sp, 18" rims, OBC, and the basic "sport" seats. Bone stock with pzeros. Its not super loaded with options, but the motor was the strongest & handling was crisper than all the others I was looking at. The P.O. rarely drove it.
Now it's time for 1,000 bucks at the dealer for the 35k service

Now, paint those lug nuts! I took the easy way out and bought some touch up paint from an auto parts store and just painted the lug nuts without taking them off. It takes a steady hand, but it worked great and it makes the wheels look brand new. Plus, it only took 20 minutes! Get the paint for Honda, heather mist metallic. It matches the twists perfectly!
Congrats. Let the honeymoon begin. Nice color combo.
This forum is an unbelievable source of knowledge, great advice, and it will help you to save time and money. Always try the search forum as most likely your question has already been asked before.
Welcome to the club and fulfilling your dream.
Welcome to Rennlist!! Its a beautiful car.
You should be able to spend less than $1K for your major service. There is a list Porsche performs on a 30K service posted somewhere on this site which can be found with a search. Where do you live? Chances are that someone here can recommend a cheaper alternative from a Indy near you.
However, Tim K. AKA gota911, will be sending you a list of mods that will blow through your savings from that service shortly.
Welcome to a great club. Very nice car indeed with good miles that should serve you well! As others have stated I think you can do a little better on your service- mine was 6-700.00 i think last year- good luck!
Congrats on your dream car and welcome aboard!
$1K is waaay to high for scheduled service, do some of the work yourself and save considerably.
+1 on the pumpkins, especially with the black.
Looks clean and the interior looks unused. I bought my 99 996 C2 16 months ago and am very happy with the car with very few problems and about 6,500 miles driven since then. Welcome to the club cshade.
Choi, I know you make it a point to always try and point out the negative. But in this case (as most) I think you're wrong, and you're doing it cause it's what people expect of you.
If you notice, he has a two-tone thing goin' on. Stripe painted over glovebox area, black air condition surround, black center console and around stereo, as well as black floor matts. so, it seems to me, the black seat-backs go with the scheme, especially since the car does not have the full-leather package.
I wish I knew the codes...but here are some more pics. Or, as I like to call it "porsche ****"
Thank you all for the kind comments. I am so excited about the new car! I grew up underneath 356's (pics comming soon) and 914s and 66 911s....basically if it had a porsche crest I was able to view, even work on, but not have for my own!
A few quesitons & responses.
1. The orange side markers stay. HOT.
2. Painted seatback---not hot.
3. Painted lug bolts: good idea, but I shake too much when I get near the car! Someone has to have some stainless bolts around cheaper than ebay...eh?
4. List of upgrades: Send it! Currently looking to lighten the wallet (and the car) with a new battery, stiffer, lower suspension, spare rims & autox tires, and maybe a little motor massaging from jones autowerks which typically remains trade/proprietary secrets, simply tracked as "guaranteed to go x faster" next to a dollar amount by the owner...
5. In case of emergency does anyone know a reputable shop in Houston?

The clear sides are Euro and it's a FACT that they look way better!
Seriously tho, I doubt you'll find one person anywhere on Renn or any other P board that like the pumpkins. but hey, it's your car....enjoy it!
lol...
Although with a few key mods, maybe a little tequila, that pumpkin might be a keeper.
1. Remove the braces (upgrade to a grill?)
2. lase corrective eye surgery
3. Perm.
4. More make-up
Welcome to the club.
+1 on the getting spoiled for anything else. You're screwed for life now. The 996 is an especially nice driving Porsche IMO.
Don't be afraid to drive it, and do so in good health.
Thanks again all for the support!
Jasper, you were right, I've driven her to and from work every day until today. When I traded keys for 35k service, the one I got back went to a 4-runner. It's not a terrible car, but, like the poster says, there is no substitute. I am counting the hours till I'm back in my womb of speed.
Thanks again all! I'd like to do some track days, maybe a few autox's.
First things first: I'm getting set up with a conservative alignment, new tires, and eventually, a little more grippy steering wheel.
I can say now, nearly 10,000miles since purchase, the honeymoon hasn't ended with this nearly daily driver!
