If you ever plan to do a concour, you might want to adjust your wheel center caps so that the point of the shield points to the valve stem.

I do have that wheel, but have not thought too much about replacing the crest on the steering wheel.

I would like to replace the gold crest with silver crest?

What I want to also do is replace the steering wheel (airbag) crest with one that matches these.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Got some silver crests all around from Boothe. The monochromatic theme is complete now. The wheel crests screw on the flange inside the wheel from the inside. Very nice...
Leedav How difficult was it to install the hood crest and the center caps...I have a 04 arctic silver cab with metropol blue interior and I think the silver crests look great...Does anyone have a steering wheel silver crest ?
The hood crest is a 5 minute job, unless you lose one of the nuts behind it inside the hood webbing.
The wheel crests took me about 10 minutes each. You have to take the wheel off, and pop the old crest out from the inside. I took the time to clean the inside of the wheels and also remove some old wheel weight glue with some denatured alcohol. The new crests have three screws inside that you tighten with a small open end wrench. The tips of the screws are tapered and they grip the inner flange of the wheel opening. I have the shiny wheel bolts from Boothe too...I'm pretty happy with the way the whole thing looks.
Lee, your car looks great. I have a MY02 C2 coupe also in arctic silver and have the badge and caps on order from Boothe. They should be here any day. What I want to also do is replace the steering wheel (airbag) crest with one that matches these. Did Ralph happen to mention whether he has them as I forgot to ask? Any idea where to get one otherwise aside from overpaying at a dealer? Thanks.

Lee,
Your car looks great!
If you ever plan to do a concour, you might want to adjust your wheel center caps so that the point of the shield points to the valve stem.
I never would have thought of that. I guess that's why I'll never do concours. That and the fact that it's stressful enough to try to keep the car just "nice".
Lee,
Very nice. I noticed that you have the billet center caps with the Silver crest as well. Did you get them from Ralph Booth? I have the same set of these center caps... love them. Your car is looking great!
Lee, I must say that I have noticed folks on the forum here talking about silver badging and quite frankly I thought to my self" what's the big deal" but after seing your car I see. It looks great. I gotta do it. Is it true that the centercaps are $80 a piece? I guess you gotta pay to play. Man this toy of mine is gonna catch up to the Harley real quick! Mods-Mods-Mods
Lee,
Do you have a 3 spokes steering wheel? If so do you know how to take the gold crest on the steering wheel off? I would like to replace the gold crest with silver crest? TIA
I do have that wheel, but have not thought too much about replacing the crest on the steering wheel. In fact, I had to go look at pictures to see if I had one!
I think if you call Boothe he'll tell you that there are instructions that come with it (I'm guessing here though).
right on brah...My feeling about the inside of the 996 is that it feels "orange" due to the dash lights. I did the badges outside because I like monochromatic color schemes in general. If I could get the dash lights to be the same color as on a Lexus (the only thing I like about those cars), a silver crest would be awesome. Just my opinion.
Have been in Shanghai and Hong Kong...still trying to get back to LA later this month to spend time with my car but this work thing is really cramping my personal life

I think you are more neurotic than I am. BTW, did we ever talk about your front side reflector lights being unlawful in the state of Oregon? LOL
Your car looks real nice.

Weissach...why such the pessimist?
We post the mods b/c we ALL share the same thing...."a passion for our cars" and love to share with others that feel the same way. How do you think we get all of our various ideas? We see how certain things looks on certain cars and then we can get a visual if that is what we thought we wanted.
