Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

13 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I took my '04 C2 to dealer yesterday for some minor warranty work and mentioned that right rear fog light did not work. Service tech said 'yeah, that's right, it doesn't work' because the European practice (laws?) was for only the left rear fog light was supposed to work. Has anyone re-wired or adapted the right rear fog light so it will function? If you have, I could use some "how to" help to get it working. Thanks, in advance, for the help!

POST 2Original post

I saw a hack for this but can't remember where. You need to install the bulb and bring a wire across to the right side.

POST 4Original post

It's not supposed to. Only on the driver's side.

POST 5Original post

It isn't supposed to. You have to splice a wire from the left fog and run a wire to the right side below the spoiler. Honest.

POST 6Original post

There is no bulb in the right side lamp here in the US. Only one side is lit on all cars that have rear fogs. To the contrary of other posts, there is a connector in the taillight housing and it is wired through the connector. But unfortunately that wiring is not connected to anything, so the only way to get it to light up is to splice a wire from the left lamp, run it through the engine compartment and over to the wire that runs to the right bulb (which you have to supply). Add your splice to the wiring harness on the car, not on the taillight housing, so when you remove the taillight, it is not stuck to this jumper wire. It is a very simple hack, and when you are done, your rear will look like this:

POST 7Original post

The rear "fog" light in the rear is placed on the driver's side only to let people know clearly which side cars should pass on... this serves handy in bad weather conditions

POST 8Original post

So, I take it only the right one works in the UK.

POST 9Original post

Yup. I heard the siamese twins moved there so the other one could drive...

POST 10Original post

Why would anyone want to wire in the right one, if both of them light up, it looks like the brakes are being applied when you are on the road.

POST 11 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

leedav, thanks for the reply. Orient Express, thanks for the info and the pic. Your cab looks great!

POST 12Original post

The key reason is that you only turn the rear fog lights on when you are in the fog! (that is why they are called FOG lamps.) In dense fog you want all the visibility that you can get, that is why I have both of them wired to come on. Otherwise the lights should not be on. Same goes for the front fog lamps.

POST 13Original post

When I bought my '99 C2 Cab earlier this year it did not have an owners manual with it. I searched and found a "like new" complete set including the hard to find CR-210 radio manual, service cards, warranty docs, radio code cards, etc. all in a perfect condition leather (like) OEM pouch. Cost me $200 for all that. Then I did a REALLY strange thing ------------- I READ the owners manual. Yes I am ashamed to admit it -- me a full, red blooded American male who has wrenched on cars and airplanes since I could hold a wrench - I read the owners manual. I must admit there were parts that moved a bit slowly, some chapters made me smile in delight while others made me sad but I read the whole thing nevertheless. Not the best literary piece I've ever encountered but alas - a must read. One of the lessons I learned from this whole experience?????? ONLY ONE LIGHT COMES ON WITH THE REAR FOG LIGHT Thanks for indulging in my experience. Maybe next week I share how I learn how to set the speed sensitivity (sensitivity training???) in the radio to make it even louder at higher speeds. But for now --- Bye
