First of all, the tire shop over tightened the nuts and it took a lot of strength to loosen the nuts with the tiny little "socket and stick" that came with the toolkit!

I also had an old used Ludwig set which was pretty amazing.

I've owned Slingerland, Gretsch, Pearl (multi concert tom set) and several Yamaha kits.

Back in junior high school I saved up some cash and bought a used Gretsch set...nothing has sounded as good since.

(Note to self: buy a decent tire iron for the trunk.) Then I had to use the tiny little jack which is not the easiest thing to turn, although, even if I had a hydraulic jack it probably wouldn't clear the sideskirts.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

My left rear tire went flat on my way home Friday night. What a pain in the @$$! First of all, the tire shop over tightened the nuts and it took a lot of strength to loosen the nuts with the tiny little "socket and stick" that came with the toolkit! (Note to self: buy a decent tire iron for the trunk.) Then I had to use the tiny little jack which is not the easiest thing to turn, although, even if I had a hydraulic jack it probably wouldn't clear the sideskirts. I finally got the tire off and put on the donut spare but then where do I put the rear tire?! Porsche of course thought of everything and had a heavy duty plastic bag to put the tire in so your back seat doesn't get dirty.
Anyway, all is well that ends well and the new tire will be mounted today (had to rush order one since nobody in the area stocks Pirelli P-Zero Rosso 265-30s.)
Excellent...congratulations...it's a great looking set up. Back in junior high school I saved up some cash and bought a used Gretsch set...nothing has sounded as good since.
Yeah, Gretsch drums sound great (most of the time) but their quality control is non-existent. I had a Gretsch set years ago, and some of the drums were nice, but some had some pretty shoddy workmanship. Never again for me I'm afraid.
Yeah I hear you. I also had an old used Ludwig set which was pretty amazing. Despite trying others, I am still playing a Pearl Export set that I bought in 1986!! Still sounds and looks great even after being shoved in cars for years that they certainly don't belong in!
Get rid of the Yamaha kit and get a DW Collectors for a start. You are filling up a Porsche here not a Toyota......and yes I have actually used mine several times to transport my kit. But being a cab it makes things a bit easier if the top is down.
????? Yamaha drums kick ***. (owner of cherrywood recording custom & rock tour custom sets).
Gretsch & DW make nice shells, but drums are about hardware too.
I really don't care for Drum Workshop drums believe it or not. After Yamaha, I think I like the Tama stuff best. I've only played a few gigs on DWs, (they weren't mine), but they didn't really feel right for me. I really don't like their mounting hardware either. They make some nice pedals though.
I've owned Slingerland, Gretsch, Pearl (multi concert tom set) and several Yamaha kits. The Yamaha are my favourite, although their bass drums aren't always 'there'.
