rennlist is THE BEST FORUM

Sorry to state the obvious but it has to be said. Rennlist and renntech are the best car sites on the web, PERIOD. I'm a member on clublexus as well and those guys are the biggest windbags I've ever had to deal with. I'm trying to upgrade my navi on the lex and have yet to recieve any useful answers. Posts turn into lengthy discussions about nothing that don't answer the original post. I'm glad that any questions about my 996 are answered quickly and efficiently here. Keep it up guys. Bobby

I belong to a lot of forums and there are no dues. What benefits do you receive when you join? I do agree that this is one of the best car forums. You don't get a lot of my M3, etc. just pulled on a Ferrari Enzo or a Porsche GT nonsense. I answered my own question about member benefits by clicking on the appropriate site.

You voluntarily fund a resource from which you presumably are benefiting. I bet you don't contribute to public radio either do you? You were probably also the guy who shorted or skipped altogether your part of group pizza bills in college, weren't you? Dave, is that you, you cheap bastard? You stepped on a bag of crap! Yes, there is good info here however, people like lvdell and others are complete jerks. They continually preach to you as though you were supposed to be impressed by their presence. Unfortuneately, these few seem to speak out quite frequently. There is a great number of less pronounced people/personalities that will provide information and are generally helpful. I've been told to payup as well, many times........................ And as for you dorks that keep demanding payment, get over yourselves. This is not your board because you paid someone. The board belongs to everyone big and small, paying or not paying. I think the board owners probably realize that making your playground exclusive to paying members only would be terminal. And another thing, 911's are great but my 355 is even better. I do know the wealth of information here is very worthwhile and much appreciated. That in itself is worth a membership, but knowing you're aligning yourself with some of these jerks and paying for it, that's another story............... Sure, you don't have to fund it and nobody has a right to suggest that you should not be here unless you do. Nonetheless, I don't see how you have any "right" to be here at all, and how you can "take the high road" by defending your right not to contribute voluntarily. Moreover, this topic has nothing to do with new money versus old money, but rather with cheap versus willing to fund something you like. There are some people on this forum that can be irritating, but it's a very large community and you're bound to run into all types. I payed to join rennlist because I get a ton of information from it, it's a site that I spend my time on, and I certainly wouldn't want it to go away. Believe me there are so many other things in life I pay for (and much, much more) and get much less from.

I didn't pay for about two months when I first came on, after awhile I realized this was much better than the bling crap forums and paid up. To each his own, but I wouldn't curse you for not contributing, it's purely voluntary. I predict that one day in the future you'll probably find yourself on tha 'paid list'.

I'm with Doc... I was freeloading for a few months as well, but after all the useful info I got from this site I felt guilty and obligated.. Plus I got neat stickers!!!!

The only time I look to see if someone is a paid member is when the poster is bitching about the forum rules or something a mod did.....or is just abusing other posters in general.....otherwise I don't really care. I joined because I get a lot of real value out of this site and so it seemed like the right thing to do. Hell, RennTech won't even let you post an answer if you are not a paid member.....It may be an interesting site, but it is hard for me to tell based on those marketing practices. I regularily check into all the other 928 content boards and IMO, none of them are in the same league as Rennlist. The Rennlist 928 forum is full of a lot of technical stuff because you can't buy a new 928....that makes it much more valuable to me than the the subject matter generally found on the 996 site...... FWIW, I gladly pay for membership at Rennlist because of the benefits I get as regards my 928, I prolly wouldn't be a paid member if the only thing I got out of this place was 996 content. Just a different perspective......

I read through a lot of posts and can't see anything which makes sense in regards to the accusations made against LVDell. He may have overreacted at some point when a picture of a sheep was posted which was suppost to be funny. But not all people have the same sense of humor. I did not reply as those things usually end ugly. It turned out that I was right, but what does that mean? My recommendation: Before posting something which could be taken as offensive, breath deeply, wait 15 minutes. Read your post again, delete it.

Honestly, I appreciate the ability and the freedom to post anything I like and that holds true for ALL of us--maybe it should be on the OT board but WTF--relax. I am still glad to be here and I am glad that you are all here too...GROUP HUG!!!

Jim, you're killin me! Trust me, on this one, I don't lose any sleep over it. I said my piece earlier in this thread and some people will just be who they are--attention seekers. I hold no grudges and don't get drawn into battles. I respect anybody's intelligent opinion. Some people will just comtinue to be who they are and there is nothing that can be done to change that. FYI to all.....this has nothing to do with paying or non-paying members. I would have more respect for a courteous user than a paying *****. Some people just put a bullseye on their head when they are both a ***** and non-contributing. Attacks on non-contibuting users don't happen (very often) when they are just part of the intelligent conversations that happen here on a daily basis. ps. this is not directed at ANYBODY in particular just tired of seeing this thread (and others) go to sh*t to a point where we don't even remember what the topic was to begin with. My mistake, it was the link to invoice me later that was down, I had a bad episode with credit card use on internet, wanted to pay by cheque...and the site to "join and get billed later" is still down, so instead of using my card, I mailed my cheque. Any how, a great site, undoubtedly the best porsche site....everyone should join, but on their own and not coerced.
