Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

2 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello, just registered tonight. Just last week I purchased my fitst water-cooled 911, a 1999 996 that I found on Bring a Trailer. My first Porsche was an '86 Carrera coupe that I purchased in 2009 and simultaneously owned a Beck Speedster. A little over two years ago, I traded both those cars for a '92 Acura NSX (which I still own). There was something about the Porsche that I missed (I think it was torque). This is also my first registration into the Rennlist forums and thought it best I start following the conversations. I live in Wisconsin so my driving time is limited to March-November. I picked this 996 (Paladio over blue) up in New Orleans and did a 2 day 1,027 mile return trip without a hiccup. Well, I was caught in a southern Illinois speedtrap zone near Cairo, IL. I'm 71 years old, haven't had a speeding ticket since I was 21 and I got nailed for 81 in a 70 zone. Totally bogus speed trap I have since learned. Since returnig home the weather switched back to winter and haven't done anymore driving since last week. However, my first 1,000 mile test drive was quite enjoyable. A much different experience than my '86 Carrera. I like the extra power and ride, though the build quality isn't quite the same. I did enough studying to come to expect that and am really enjoying the car nonetheless. Plenty of bang for the buck as many have noted getting into one of these during these bargain, entry rates. So for now, that's my brief intro. My name is Rich and hope to meet a number of you over the next year or more. Thanks for listening. Now to make myself familiar with the interface here. Like, how do I attach a photo?
