Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi all As some of you may or may not know I have bought a Gemballa GT-600 Front TT front bumper cover. MY question is how many of you have made the switch, and what was the cost involved...I don't mean painting and re and re, I mean all the brackets, ducts , trim . pieces ....ext ext ...required..My dealer just quoted me around $ 1000.00 , and they are using my ducts & rebar, this is not including paint and install .....ARE THE TRYING TO SCREW ME??? My car is a MY 04 C2......I have a list of parts they are trying to sell me so do i need them? Thanks in advance for your help ..... this is a pic for referencing

POST 2Original post

Given what you paid for the bumper I think you are being quoted a little high..shop it around..I had my Targa converted to a factory TT front, I paid $1000 all in , including paint and delivery...do not let the Pfaff bodyshop do the paint...they have a great service/tech dept but the bodyshop is brutal

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

OK thats good to know.....where do you, or anyone else suggest?

POST 4Original post

Talk to Gert about the hardware www.carnewal.com You can e-mail him with questions. No affiliation

POST 5Original post

Call Mario Pacione at [phone removed]( HP Cars), ask him to get a quote like the job he did for my (Scott) 996 targa bumper conversion...the work was flawless...you can search for the pics on the forums..cheers

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Any one Know what parts are required for the swap?? I know these so far Bumper cover Turbo grills and ducts *Bottom rebar needs to be cut down... Thanks Alon and Moggle for that tip*

POST 7Original post

i believe there are some additional supports in normal 996 bumpers that need to be cut down in order for the turbo bumper to fit any competant bodyshop should be able to do it no problem it will fit fine, but be warned it is NOT a straight swap.

POST 9Original post

Did you talk to Gert yet? He will be able to answer all of your questions with part numbers and prices in response to a single e-mail.

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yea I did ...what a great guy, he is not 100% of the parts i will need,I guess what ill do is start the swap and find out what parts i need. The only reason he is not sure is because its a Gemballa. Thanks for your help Paul

POST 11Original post

Paul, Is the Gemballa bumper different than a regular turbo bumper? If it is not (from an attachment viewpoint) there is very little that you have to do. I replaced my stock bumper with a turbo bumper and the only issues were: - the eyebrows under the headlights had to be pried off. Your options are to buy new ones (about $150) or you can silicone the old ones back on, - the ducting for the brakes may need to be slightly modified, but that is no big deal, - and lastly, at the bottom center of the bumper, it will not reach the attachment points for the stock bumper. There is about a 4" gap. So use a piece of perforated angle iron and bridge the gap with a bolt on each side. Other than that, the turbo bumper is a perfect fit as a replacement for the stock bumper. With regard to the install, the body shop that repainted it for me did the install as part of the price, which was about $400. Lastly, something to consider: I let my newly painted bumper dry for 30 days off the car, had it installed and immediately went and had a clear bra put on it.

POST 12 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks i was thinking to do the clear bra , seeing how its a new hood and bumper..

POST 13Original post

A guy over on 6speed did this very thing and had a very detailed writeup. Standy and I will see if I can find the thread.........

POST 17Original post

You do not need new ducts, re-bar, etc. 1- The ducts will not bolt onto your non-turbo radiators/condensors (yours will work fine) 2- The re-bar can be cut in length by 2 inches per side and no one will ever know 3- You should use new lower fender liners from a turbo/C4S/40 Jahre otherwise yours can be cut to fit

POST 18 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I called Alon, those are the front only (liners)? they are in stock, i will go to pick them up....Is it still a go for sat?
