I started out with the same car as you recall, lost her to a fire....and used the opportunity to move on to another level.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

48 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

< Sigh > My 2004 C2 is on Autotrader. < heavy breathing is causing the monitor to fog up! > Just to clarify, it is NOT listed by me and I have no affiiation with the seller. Tim's former 996

POST 3Original post

Oh, I'm so sorry. I'm amazed that you found it. I'd hate to see that.

POST 5Original post

I thought you returned the yellow pumpkins and got rid of the smoke/clear side markers?

POST 6Original post

What, did it go to auction? Or is that who you sold it to?

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 5794063

Arnee, I never had pumpkins on the car. It had clear side markers on it when I leased it.

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 5794107

I returned it to the leasing company here in Dallas on 6/2/08. I guess it went to auction and this group bought it.

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 5794371

Since my car "might" be going to my daughter (check out the "Kaboom" thread for specifics) I thought I would check out 2002 - 2004 Porsches available in the Dallas area. That's how I found it.

POST 11Original post

Now the burning question is, are they asking more or less than your lease buy-back amount?

POST 12Original post

This is one time when you have to think... Was it meant to be... me and my car together again??? DUDE, its beautiful, really... and priced very good (opinion)... I will spot you 5 yards... grab the ball and run for the in zone!! (IMHO) E

POST 13Original post

It would be cool if you could snag the car back for less than the buy-back amount.

POST 14Original post

Good luck Tim. That would be something. Andy T

POST 15Original post

Tim, who knows the story, it is what it is and I'm sure someone will be VERY happy with it. No reason to look back, NEVER look back, ONLY look forward.

POST 16Original post

Quotes source post: 5794632

Hey, now that it's for sale in Texas, maybe they converted it into a submarine!

POST 17 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 5794529

IIRC, their asking price is within $300 of the lease buy-back amount. I'll bet they got it for $32k +/- at auction.

POST 18Original post

Quotes source post: 5794649

That's what I figured. I'd bet you could get it for $34K if you pushed them - now that would be cool.

POST 19 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 5794548

Thanks, I was quite partial to her looks also.

POST 20Original post

Quotes source post: 5794654

For sure, I leased a car once and had a buy out of about $10k... I bought it straight from the lease co w/o turning it in for $7k, they really didnt want it back... with this soft market, you might have some leverage too.. plus you know the car (except for a little while while it was on tour w/o you) E

What's a couple of Type 2 over-revs between friends!

POST 22Original post

Tim, I hope you throw them a low ball offer and get your beautiful car back.

POST 23Original post

Quotes source post: 5794463

I have a friend who let's me use his Manheim internet ID. I'll try to see if I can find what it went for wholesale.

POST 24Original post

Quotes source post: 5794567

Absolutely! Nothing more I'd like to see than Tim back in that C2! It's in perfect shape. Unlike some others of us who lease cars, Tim actually really took great care of his. Deckman, I'd love to see what his car went for wholesale. Right now, I'll bet that car can be bought for very close to selling price at auction.

POST 25Original post

Quotes source post: 5795511

Yup, I agree. The important thing would be to not let it slip that you have a history with the car and would like it back.

POST 26Original post

Quotes source post: 5795520

Really good point, although I still say look forward and not back. Going back to the old girlfriend always seems like a great idea at the time....safe, easy, comfortable. You know what turns her on and off, her good and bad, all her quirks etc... But in the end it never works and you should have just let her go and move on.

POST 27Original post

Quotes source post: 5795887

Good analogy. I like it. Anyway, one tactic is to say that you like the car, but would prefer to buy a white 911.

POST 30Original post

look away Tim... the mileage is within kaboom range... Im with Arrogant, always look forward... long live the 911

POST 31Original post

Tim, We will support your decision; whichever way you turn. At then end of the day we just want you to be happy. Best,

POST 33Original post

Hey Timmy, keep hope alive, step up to a pre-owned GT3.

POST 34Original post

Tim - You were so bummed when you had to let it go, I say get her back! Unlike an old girlfriend, the Porsche never loses it's good looks! Your favorite color, your care, your car! Get it!

POST 35Original post

This is more intriguing than a daytime soap! Will the car return to it's rightful home or forever be banished to a used car lot...stay tuned

POST 45Original post

Tim: I know how much time, effort, and money you put into her...and I remember how you tried to sell her to another forum member rather than turn her back in....but I think that you should move on to another flavor. I started out with the same car as you recall, lost her to a fire....and used the opportunity to move on to another level. I believe that if you do decide to get another Porsche, you probably are entertaining the prospect of something a little different.....yes/no??? Whatever you decide...the best of luck to you....I've enjoyed bantering with you on the forum. Chuck

POST 46 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Guys, Thanks for all of the words of encouragement and the best wishes. I really do appreciate it! Chuck, I am thinking the same thing. When/if I get back into another Porsche it will probably be a 997. I just hope that there are some still around in 2028, which is probably when I will be able to afford one. :sur: For the time being, I think I am stuck with my POS Honda Accord.
