I recommend to substitute the coolant, clean the whole circuit , and clean the front radiators

When you say "just two bars light up" I am assuming you need to fill 3 or 4 bars or so.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

So yesterday I noticed my oil was low (at only 2 bars full on the screen), I already know this is an RMS problem because I had the car inspected by my local Porsche dealer & they told me I had a small leak, but they told me it was "no big deal."
I read some threads on here before about coolant getting into the oil or oil getting into the coolant. How do I know if this is my case? Sorry for the ignorance, but I'm a newbie at Porsches, & really at cars for that matter (I'm only 18, so this is barely my 2nd car, lol). I mean I have no overheating issues, no issues with the engine, no check engine light on or anything, plus I'm sure if this was happening, they would've noticed it at Porsche. But I'd like to know just to be safe. Here are pics of the coolant tank/cap & oil tank/cap. Thanks.
Also, how much oil do I need to add if only 2 little bars are little up?
Cool, my stress level just went down by a lot. Thanks a million.
So now how much oil should I put in her? When I check my oil, 2 bars light up. Can someone tell me how much oil is supposed to go into an MKII 996, & how much each little bar is of oil? Also, what oil would be best? I keep hearing Mobil 1 0W-40 is the best. But I live in San Diego, so no extreme weathers here.
Should I just go to Jiffy Lube & get an oil change while I'm at it? Or will they kill my car?
Thanks.
Unless you have more than 18,000 Km or/and 6 months (roughly),
just add less than half a quart per two bars.
When you say "just two bars light up" I am assuming you need to fill 3 or 4 bars or so.
Overfilling is worse than under-filling, so do it little by little.
It must be nice to have a 911 at such a young age!
Take care
John
Hey dude check your coolant cap part no. If it doesn't end in .03 order a new one from
www.sunsetimports.com
(call it in).
Don't even know what you are talking about regarding oil level, you didn't take a pic of the dipstick.....
Whatever you do about the oil make sure you use Mobil 1 0-40,the Porsche stuff.
Welcome to the Porsche guild, now get out before you spend $$$$$ on pointless mods.
Remove your age from your post or else this thread will be high jacked.
The coolant looks dirty and very old
I recommend to substitute the coolant, clean the whole circuit , and clean the front radiators
Porsche doesn't replace it a as a maintenance programm
But the coolant has a hard wear. I've seen some 996's coolant circuit in very bad conditions because of the wear
All water cooled cars need to replace the coolant unless every 4 years
There are several ways to mix the oil into the coolant or viceversa.... oil separators, broken cilinder, rusty ducts...
Never, never fill up the circuit with normal water. It could turn the circuit to corrosion, and finally cause an engine failure
