Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Front pads and rotors on a Cayenne ran me about $425, so you are right on target.

A friend of mine helped and we blasted through it
I cant believe I used to pay someone to do this! It was not a hard job at all!
That is good to hear. My brake parts are on a UPS truck somewhere heading east.
Ferdinand is kind enough to teach me how to do it sometime in the next few weeks. I still can't believe that a complete set of brake parts for the 996 cost me close to $1K though.
I was actually suprised at how reasonable the brakes on the 996 were compared to my M3. Last time I put brakes on the M3 I had $900 in the OEM european rotors!.
Is there a DIY write-up anywhere? I'm helping a friend next weekend, and I've never touched a 996. I do all the work on my 993, figure I have to learn a bunch in the next week so I don't mess anything up on his. All advice appreciated!
Front pads and rotors on a Cayenne ran me about $425, so you are right on target. PAP-parts might have been a little cheaper than Sunset. I got ceramic pads from PAP and the rotors/hardware from Sunset.
The true prison scene is when you pay the stealership $700-$1400 for labor!!
Good job!
