Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Leading evidence: 'Repair rms' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check clutch' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Park Place repaired my RMS leak & didn't change any fluids.

the receipt said 7 so think they drained and replaced the oil.

When I had mine done at 29K miles, I had them check the clutch.

Suggestion
I had them change the clutch anyway, for $600 worth of parts, labor free since they were taking the engine/tranny down anyway.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4th Porsche, 1st RMS at 10,800 miles on a 2002 C4S. Park Place in Dallas says they have and do all the latest things. Just commenting here, I don't feel special today.
Bill
Park Place fixed my RMS leak at 9.9K mi in January. I've put about 1K miles and one DE behind me since. So far no problems, but obviously time and more miles will tell.
After I looked at the reponses here I talked with PP and they have my car ready for pick up tomorrow. I saw comments about oil and transmission fluid change. I asked the service person and they said no need to do this. Should I expect them to have changed these fluids?
I also wonder if there is anything I should look at when picking it up? Loose or missing bolts, (assuming I could find them), or any other things? I don't like the idea that each and every fastner might not be reinstalled as per specs. I do drive it over 100 (way over) sometimes and I want to be safe from mechanical failures.
Any thoughts?
Bill
Less than a day I think as I took it in Wed night and called Friday and it was done. I went out of town so that is why I did not get it back Thur. although PP told me it would be ready the next afternoon.
I always worry about my car, I wish it were not so!

Your comment made me wonder how many 996 owners have RMS leaks and don't even know it? If you aren't aware of the RMS problem, you may not notice a couple of drops of oil on the garage floor. Sure, a conscientious Porsche mechanic would detect the leak, but the average Joe who is doing routine maintenance may easily miss it.
Supposedly the oil gets in between the two, leading to clutch slippage. When I had mine done at 29K miles, I had them check the clutch. Supposedly everything was fine. I had them change the clutch anyway, for $600 worth of parts, labor free since they were taking the engine/tranny down anyway.
Picked up the car today. They did pu tin some oil but the service tech couldn't tell me how much. the receipt said 7 so think they drained and replaced the oil. Oil level is now one bar below the line, consistant with the dip stick. When I took it in all bars were lit and the dip stick showed over the top. I asked if that would have been part of the problem but no one committed.
They also showed on the invoice they "touched up" the clutch and flywheel. I was told this was sanding type of operation to remove hot spots, which I think oil on the surfaces could help create due to some cooling effects. I don't know, anyway the clutch takeup is smooth and seamless, better than before.
So I can't tell anything else except while I did enjoy driving the Boxster with the top down, the C4S is so much better, I was glad to get it back. I'll watch for leaks of course.
Thanks for the comments. I think PP did great, no complaints.
