Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion

I bet the dealership would have had to spend weeks and replaced a dozen parts to fix it -- and they still wouldn't have had a clue what was causing it!

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

9 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

When Lerxst did his DIY pulled the transmission thread he posted a pic of an oil leak that he hasn't noticed.... https://rennlist.com/forums/996-forum/450954-my-diy-experience-pulling-the-transmission.html I had the same weeping leak and decided to pursue the source.... It turns out that it is a failed "O" ring at the cam position sensor (right next to the AOS)... tight fit, pull the AOS bellows out of the way and the sensor is held on with an allen screw...took 30 min to pull out.

POST 3Original post

Sure doesn't look like 30 minutes from that pic.

yeah, good find. I bet the dealership would have had to spend weeks and replaced a dozen parts to fix it -- and they still wouldn't have had a clue what was causing it!

POST 6Original post

Nice find Redridge...now, about that reassembly...

POST 7Original post

you replaced it with the tranny in? I just chased an o ring up front to the condensor and its very good feeling to fit a "big" problem for under a $1 (less your time of coarse)!! WTG! E

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I havent replaced it yet... will find out tomorrow how long this will take... It also helps that I have a lift yes... all this with the transmission still attached.
