Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I've been thinking about covering a few pieces like the sterring column covers and other bits in Alcantara but I can;t seem to be able to find that correct blackish-grey color that is used on the headliner.

I'd like to replace my vinyl roof liner with Alcantara.

I did it myself by using the originals as patterns.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hey,
here's my small budget project.
originals as templates:
speedo pod or whatever that is called:
Powdercoated twists. Cost $ 340:
Wheels in car. Bumper cover is missing as the original one will be ditched in favor of a RUF-piece :
Before:
Interior almost finished. GT-3 Console delete missing and 80's fur will be replaced with alcantara on the lower part of the panels. Total cost including painting the interior pieces ~$250.
When You take the gauges out from the pod, it can be removed by taking out one screw in the left hand end of the pod and then carefully prying as it's held in place by clips. If I remember correctly that is. But it's very easy to see how it comes apart when the gauges are removed.
Hope this helps.
Nice work Splitwindow. By the way, is that your Ghia in your avatar? Beautiful. I've been thinking about covering a few pieces like the sterring column covers and other bits in Alcantara but I can;t seem to be able to find that correct blackish-grey color that is used on the headliner. Any suggestions?
Thanks for the comments.
Yep, that's my '59 KG in the avatar. That was my daily driver for a couple of wks when the P-car was torn down
For the material, I'd contact
http://www.gulffabrics.com/
and ask if they'd have the correct material?
As my car is the low-spec one with original cheapo interior, I can't comment whether or not my stuff matches the OG one or not...
Well Chad, I can tell you that when I had my 1999 and I wanted that headliner, it was not realistic to buy one from Porsche, even a used one on E-Bay was going for about $350 or $400. If you have someone who can cut and make one for you, do it.
That'd be a nice mod. I'd say it would be a rather tricky one though as the material would need to be sowed so that the bows have their respective 'tunnels'...
Unless You have a little seamstress in You that might be hard
Of course You could take the original out and take the OG one and the alcantara material and have someone copy that for You and install it Yourself?
That's what I have discovered myself, Alon. I think I will try that route. But first thing first. I need some Sparco Evo II's. The plan is to custom cover those with alcantara.
Why the Sparco's? I am 6'6" and 250#. I want to be comfy.
Chad
I know, I was trying to make a joke and actually typo-ed 350 instead of 250. I hope that I haven't offended anyone now
I'm not too far behind at 220 pounds and 6'3".
Splitwindow,
Is there an issue unpluggig the gauges in terms of the computer registering fault codes, milage or broken seals indicating that it has been taken apart?
Ciao,
Johannes E.
Hur mr du Johannes
Don't know if the computer registers some fault codes which do not cause any lights to lit in the dashboard, but at least I didn't get CEL or anything else when everything was hooked up. Mileage was also correct so no issue there. I didn't notice any seals in the unit which would got broken.
