i would still use thorobred for regular servicing, but for brakes and other mechanical stuff hes cool

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

29 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 2Original post

Get the polished exhaust tips. Chrome tips are too much bling on a Carrera IMHO. What kind of tips do you have on your car now? I saw these tips on FVD's website and I think they look great (polished not chromed, of course).

POST 3Original post

Have to agree as well.....polished. Chrome is for the Escalade not the 911

POST 4Original post

whatever you do imo make sure they look like the C4S SS ones like below. Best looking tips for the shape of the rear end imo.

POST 5Original post

Did you see the price of those friggin tips??? Over $1K!!!!

POST 6Original post

$.6k after tax! call it repairs & maintenance!

POST 7Original post

Dell, No, no, no -- I would never recommend $1,160 tips! The tips cost $425. The tailpipes cost $1,160. Anyway, $425 is still pricey but it is still less than the Tequipment sports (larger) oval tips. endpipeskit double tube 996 C2/C4 02- FVD 111 996 T02 $425

POST 8Original post

Do you have a link to them? I didn't see the ones that were 425.

POST 9Original post

these tips won't fit pre 2002 c2/c4 will they?

POST 10Original post

Hey Dell, FVD's online store is a pain in the butt. It doesn't let you right click or view the page source so I don't have the URL. But here's how you get to the page: 1) Go to http://www.fvd-usa.com 2) Click on Skip Intro to skip the stupid Flash piece 3) On the main page, click on the Online Shop link in the left nav 4) A pop-up window will come up for the online shop 5) Select Mod. 996 (98-05) in the Car Type dropdown on the left nav 6) Click on Exhaust -> Tips on the left nav 7) Scroll down to the tenth item on the list (after the tail pipes and the bypass pipes) is the double round exhaust tips.

POST 11Original post

Here's a screenshot: Dell, I was in Vegas last weekend (March 4-7). I love your town. I used to work for SAIC before I joined Proxicom (got in right before the IPO ) If I had a gig in Vegas I probably would've stayed with SAIC!

POST 12Original post

PROG.....I did have a gig waiting for me when I got here 3 years ago but then Bechtel bought our operation out here and I decided against it. I am still on the books with SAIC but just not logging and hours till we go back. Only 1 more year here (on my wife's contract) and then we head back to DC!!! Fun to visit Vegas, but it blows living here. MUNDMAN....As for those tips, they don't have them for the 3.4, just the 3.6

POST 13Original post

Jeff, The stock 02- C4S tips will not fit on 98-01 C2 and 99-01 C4 (narrow body). However, Dansk makes an aftermarket version that will fit. Check out Mid America Motorworks (formerly Tweeks). http://www.tweeks.com/shop?frame=5.59.5662

POST 14Original post

nice catch programmatore. I've been looking for those tips for a pre02 for ages! cheers

POST 15Original post

Great price too ($349). I paid almost twice that for OEM sport tips (large ovals). I think I might like these better.

POST 16 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hold on, guys....the "blended" pipetips from FVD (where it looks like one tip is slightly imbedded in the other), in the picture early on in this thread on the black C4S is NOT the $425 tips....the $425 tips are not imbedded....the imbedded ones cost over $1400....I called Rhonda at FVD, and she told me they're basically Gembella's, with the FVD logo...the owner of FVD is very close w/the Gembella company.....the $425 tips aren't as attractive.... I'm not sure which way to go now!!!! I love quality, and I'm willing to pay for it, but my wife would have my head if I spent $1425 for tips!!!!!

POST 17Original post

If you want the embedded look, go with the Dansk tips for $350. They are on the MidAmerican website.

POST 18 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

are these an easy install....this may be my answer!!!!! Thanks

POST 19Original post

I believe the tips just bolt on. You may need some rust remover and elbow grease...

POST 21Original post

Why not go with the factory OEM 4 pipe tips? I bought mine at Sunset for under $500.

POST 22Original post

i took my stainless tips off yesterday to put onto PSE - what a f*cking nightmare they do just bolt on, but it will take a while to get them off and i would advise getting two new clamps from thoroughbred for about $30 call in advance to order them!

POST 23Original post

I'm so happy I paid $150 to have my GHL's installed at a shop...

POST 24Original post

i got PSE installed at a shop for $150, i just thought i would save some cash by taking off my old SS tips.......... glad i did

POST 25Original post

Actually, I wish I had time to knuckle bust these jobs myself...more power to ya!

POST 27 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Do you ever use Andrew @Music City P&A to do any work on your car? I hear he's got a quality facility, and a whole lot cheaper than Thoroughbred!!!!

POST 28Original post

thats exactly who I use nice guy who doesn't seem to be a crook i would still use thorobred for regular servicing, but for brakes and other mechanical stuff hes cool the first muffler set i got was fabspeed and he charged my $200 and something to fit, but cut me a deal for $150 for when i changed them to PSE
