The other wings are made by other companies (Misha, Strosek, etc) so you'd have to ask them what 'testing' they've done if they make any suspect claims.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Anyone have any recommendations where to look for a wing for my 996? I am open to suggestions as to type? Thanks..

POST 2Original post

i think the cab roof limits your choices as far as wings go. you can check in with the usual aftermarket guys, techart gemballa, fvd, 9ff porsche tequipment.

POST 3Original post

There was a gal on 6speed, I think her userID was PorscheBabe and she had a GT3 (mK2) wing installed that was custom cut down so the cab cover mechanism cleared it. Looked really hot. It is a white CAB that also made some mag cover as well. Do a search over there and you will find great pics as well.

POST 4Original post

Found it...... http://www.6speedonline.com/forums/s...?threadid=9534

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

LV, that is exactly what i was looking for. I just saw a blue one with a wing at my shop yesterday but didnt ask what type it was, and i dont think he had mod the wing to get it to work... but that is what i want!!!! Looks bitchin...

POST 6Original post

Robert I have an 04 cab and just put a Getty design aerocab wing and it looks great...it comes with the brakelight and wiring ...the quality is very good...my bodyshop which does all the PCNA cars at the Porsche driving experience in Birmingham, Ala told me that it is one of the best aftermarket wings that they have worked with....I talked with Neal at Getty Design and he was extremely nice and helpful...check them out at www.gettydesign.com..they advertise in Excellence...Dr.Z

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Dr.Z, Thanks, i will take a look at the site!

POST 8Original post

JMO, but sometimes a wing can overpower a cab, appearance wise. They can look awkward and ricey unless done just right, Don from cape cod has a nice one on a cab for example.

POST 9Original post

Robert The wing that Don from Cape Cod has is the same one that I have(Don's is OEM Porsche)...in fact I searched for an aftermarket wing like his and finally found a reputable company(I did deal with one company that makes very poor quality parts...they market them as urethane/fiberglass composite but these parts are really 100% fiberglass and are very poor quality...PM me and I will tell you their name).....check out Misty( Don's car)...I think that you will like it....Dr. Z

POST 10Original post

aftermarket wings = poor quality, cheap materials, bad fit, suspect aerodynamics up to you.

POST 11Original post

I have the Misha Wing 996wings.com It's aftermarket and fit and finish was great.

POST 13Original post

NOT TRUE. Some wings, like all aftermarket products, MAY be poor quality. We've seen a wide range. We are producing a top-of-the-line kevlar full carbon wing now, and there is nothing like this on the market. We've seen the Misha Wings (good), and Strosek (good), and some crappy ones that were sent to us for painting. But not all of them are poor quality or cheap materials. That generalization just does not hold water. Perhaps you had an experience with one brand in particular? We have painted some wings that were extremely hard to do - very porous fiberglass that required painting the wing more than 3 times (complete). But again, it's not true that all aftermarket wings are cheap or poor quality.

POST 14Original post

Itzkirb, is Misha's wing scaled down since it is not on a widebody? I love the look on your car. Just worried that it would be overpowering in person on a narrow body.

POST 15Original post

You may be producing the highest quality wings out there, but are they actually engineered to complement the aerodynamics of the car? Has it been in the wind tunnel like Porsche's cup kit? IMNSHO, unless the wing is actually functional and part of a balance aero package, it's the epitome of rice.

POST 16Original post

The kevlar wing is a nearly exact match to the GT2 wing blade, nothing more, nothing less, other than significant overall weight savings. The other wings are made by other companies (Misha, Strosek, etc) so you'd have to ask them what 'testing' they've done if they make any suspect claims. We were commenting on quality only.

POST 17Original post

And functionality doesn't have anything to do with quality? Sorry, couldn't help myself.
