Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I just got two quotes from local P dealers for a 30k service. One was higher by $250. Anybody have an idea why the difference is so much. Here are a couple questions: Could one dealer be adding extra service to the Porsche recommended service? Have you experience a sizable difference in quotes for service yourself? Thanks. Pat

POST 2Original post

pre '01 cars get plugs, later don't until 60k. My dealer told me 1000$ for 30k svc on my '03 C4S. I may just do it myself.

POST 3Original post

I was quoted $900 for my 99 C2 Cab last summer by both dealers in Atl.

POST 4Original post

what gets done @ 30k? i doubt its anything major, if you have the time, you can save a lot of $$ by doing it yourself.

POST 5Original post

Just do it yourself. Forget about whether it is cheaper or not. Learning about your car will benefit you down the line and make you feel better about yourself.

POST 6Original post

I was quoted $900 by Thoroughbred Motorcars, Nashville, TN

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Interesting. I was quoted $850 by one dealer and $600 by the other for a 2000 C4. It seems like I'm getting a pretty good quote. Thanks.

POST 8Original post

Ask what are the items they perform. Some will include brake flush which isn't part of 30k. $600 sounds pretty reasonable. Best to do it yourself. Invest $100 in tools (ramp, cheap mechanic tool set if you are starting out). Buy about $100 of parts and fluids.
