0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Suspected cause
I suspect the dealer required a larger deposit when this car was ordered.
Leading evidence: 'dealer required a larger deposit' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'dealer required a larger deposit' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I wanted to get another offbeat color, but it didn't work out that way with my GT3.
Yes. But I agree with RLandis -- it only matters what
you
think since you'll be the one driving the car.
There were a lot of mid-90s Ford Taurus' with a similar color. I'm glad Porsche discontinued that color. I think it was called Ocean Jade Metallic.
I don't think it's necessarily girly, just not of my particular taste for a Carrera. I think it looks great on a Boxster though. Certain colors do that for me. Like Zanzibar...looks HOT on a Carrera, not a Boxster.
Honestly, I was all ready to pull the trigger on this car until a friend said it looked great but was a little girly...it was liek a stab to the heart! I thought the color was screaming too. Now I have been looking at it differently.....maybe I should just stick with silver or Black....
But I would still like to hear more opinions....is this car girly looking????
Kevin Garnet had one that color when he lived around the corner from me. He has since moved so I don't know what he has now. I don't think Kevin would appriecate you calling him Girly.
If you really like it, then go for it. If you have any reservations, then pass. Passing on this color might save you a lot of regrets later. For me, its just not a good color for a Porsche....
You can tell if you like a car by whether you turn around to look at it after you park it. If you like it, that's all that matters. However, an odd color probably should lower the purchase price. The limited buyer's market shrinks. I suspect the dealer required a larger deposit when this car was ordered. AS
Back in the late nineties "911 & Porsche World" magazine did a cover feature on a 993 Twin Turbo S in that color with some billionaire from England. Bad to the bone. Just go all-out aggressive with the aero and wheel mods and you'll love it.
It is a unique and outstanding color IMHO. I owned a 2003 BoxsterS in Meridian Metallic. Everyone would say, "Wow, beautiful color, what is it called?"
I think it is one of those bi-modal colors. Most people will either really like it or really hate it and only a very few will be ambivalent. For me...I don't care for it at all.
When I first saw the car in Kevin's drive way I thought was a ugly color. But when I saw Kevin in the car it and he looked good. I think car colors are like suits and shirts what looks good on one person might not look good on another. IMHO YMMV yada yada yada.
yes, clay aiken.. the epitomy of honesty and straightforwardness.. wait, did i say straight? i mean...
so the point is.. if you get the car, atleast clay aiken will want to drive with you?
For some reason, just doesn't work for me. I like "classic" colors, and that's a little too pastel/fleeting for me. If you like it but are concerned about what others think (I'm seeing mixed opinions here), maybe pass...
Girly-men drive cabriolets !
Therefore the color is good.
Seriously, that is a good color on a cab. Unique yet easy to keep clean. I washed my BLACK 993 every 4 days. Waxed it about every 3 weeks. Good thing it was a small car.
Arctic Silver is a compromise. Seal Grey is better.
I'm just kidding about the cabriolet pilots, so don't send hate mail.
Not girly at all. Besides, it makes the car distinctive. Most 996's, especially the cabs are normally far too understated. A unique color distinguishes the car.
Looks gaaaaagious to me. Love that colour. Go for it man........but get under its rear end and hump it fore leaks before you take the plunge.
This is girly!
Im guessing the reason for posting a question about the color means there is some doubt. You need to LOVE the color or there will always be a cloud hovering over your head as to whether it was a good decision or not. If you are asking other people about itdont buy. Wait for the color that leaves no doubt.
My old 996 was Wimbledon Green, a shade darker than that. I loved the color and the car even more because it was so unique. It's a color you never see because the color sample at the dealership is the ugliest thing ever (I saw a 993 in that color and it looked awesome in person so I ordered my 996 that way). I called it Love-It-or-Hate-Green because of the feedback I'd get when driving it around, roughly 98% for and 2% against. A lot of people go out of their way to tell you how nice it looks.
I sold it last July. The buyer came over (the first person to look at it), I opened the garage and backed it out and he bought it on the spot without even driving it and very minimal haggling.
I wanted to get another offbeat color, but it didn't work out that way with my GT3. I sure do miss that car, it'll always have a special place in my heart. If it makes you happy, go for it!
Girly? Thinking along those lines is what actually makes you girly. From what I can see, it's light green metallic. Like it a lot, and saw it years ago on an early 80's 911 Turbo with the side "Turbo" script. Way cool.
Geert
that's a florida coast car... personally i wouldn't mind having a vehicle like that in south beach... or maybe in monte carlo, or some various european countries... although if i lived in chicago, detroit, or a place where water wasn't abundant.. it just doesn't seem right... imho of course..
