It comes in a spray can and directs you to cover off anything you don't want sprayed....I used newspaper and painters tape.....the directions specify: "Changes or renews color on most flexible and rigid plastics, carpet, vinyl, and velour.

Forgot where I saw it but there is a product that re-dyes your top. It is ONLY for black tops so you should be good! I can't for the life of me remember where I saw the product though. sorry.

I have an 87 factory slant with the black top. I noticed that some of the side fabric down the column was fading and had lost it's color. I went to a shop that specialized in the restoration of classic cars, and the shop owner recommended "SEM Color Coat". The color he recommended was Landau Black. It comes in a spray can and directs you to cover off anything you don't want sprayed....I used newspaper and painters tape.....the directions specify: "Changes or renews color on most flexible and rigid plastics, carpet, vinyl, and velour. I used it to renew the black fabric and it has retained the black coloration in spite of a number of the fact I've washed the car a number of times. Hope this helps. Chuck

I believe that those products are designed to keep the top clean and maintain the waterproof status of the canvas.....I dont think they actually dye it or restore the color. The black SEM Colorcoat I've been using has restored and blackened the color. I use the Ragg top products to maintain the waterproofing. Im sure that either of the products do a good job.

Mike, The product you want to use is SEM spray paint. It is a great product, I use it alot. I have sprayed large areas, tops headliners, be careful though, it can look spotty. Do light coats and at good distance. Becareful not to get it too thick, it will look as though it as been redyed. Good luck!
