I am a bit of a stickler for properly securing any lines as I had a good friend die in a single engine plane fire/crash that was traced to an improperly secured fuel line.
Leading evidence: 'improperly secured fuel line' (1 discussions report identifying this cause; no attributable repair resolution). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'improperly secured fuel line' (1 discussions; 1 report identifying it and 0 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace with one' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

My tiptronic had a full faced grommet there (almost like a seal), it needed to be replaced with one that had a hole for the clutch line.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Where the blue clutch line passes through the front left inner fender well, behind the front strut / spring, is there mesnt to be a grommet there? If so does anyoine know the part number as I cnlt see it on any of the Porsche parts diagrams.
Thanks.
I've put a generic one in there for now as it just doesn't feel right, but it'll be interesting if anyone can confirm if they are supposed to have one or not.
On my Tip to manual swap I got a grommet at the hardware store and cut it to get it around the blue pipe. Similar to SoCal911's picture. I am a bit of a stickler for properly securing any lines as I had a good friend die in a single engine plane fire/crash that was traced to an improperly secured fuel line.
The parts diagram shows a grommet #18 & #19 ....#18 is for manuals with a hole in it and #19 is for Tip and has no hole in it .. Part #
99970221642 .
If you are a stickler for OEM this is what you want otherwise any grommet the right size will work to protect the line ....
If
I think thats the grommet for the firewall. My tiptronic had a full faced grommet there (almost like a seal), it needed to be replaced with one that had a hole for the clutch line. Using the part number you referenced above.
Maybe it will work in both locations?!
that's what I am thinking ..
Personally I would not spend $8 and wait for it to come from Germany just to get OEM..... I would go to Home Depot and get one the right size or slightly larger and cut it down to fit...
Back in the good old days when grommets were not readily available I made many a grommet by hand by splitting rubber vacuum line length-wise and cut to size to use as a grommet for line protection building Race Cars...
I think parts 18 and 19 are indeed for the firewall, not where it passes through the inner fender well.
On the diagram, where the clutch puipe is labelled with the number 9, this is the location where it passes through, yet nothing on the diagram.
For those interested, I put calipers across the pipe and the hole and measures just over 8mm for the pipe and approx 15.5mm for the hole.
