Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

i used a long 1/4 extension and a wobble socket to tq it.
Leading evidence: 'Use long 1/4 extension and a wobble socket' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Repair "' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

I dont know if I would do a temporary "repair" but if its your only car, I think some saran wrap and lots of tape would get you by for a day or two ?

I somehow snapped the oil fill tube off at the transition from the flexible part to the rigid near the fill cap while changing the o2 sensors this morning.

Has anyone changed the oil fill tube - if so, what has to be removed to gain access to the two hold down bolts on top of the engine?

I will take a look at potentially using glue - may be a good alternative for the fill tube.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Thank you in advance

I broke mine but it was in my Boxster and after a 40 hour five day supercharger install. So, I was wiped out and paid a local shop around $300.00 IIRC. Wish I could help you, but at least you'll have an idea of going rate.

cost of about $30
2 screws... BIATCH to get to... I think Tippy has removed this before, I have been in there, but didnt look at the access to that area. but from this pic, it looks like I can almost see the bolts... (my car is not home)
doesnt look too hard (unless it is a 3.6 and look way differant)

Thank you for the info - it does roughly define the time / effort involved.
Unfortunately the closest dealer is over 2 hours away - this will probably have to be a DIY with the tube on order from Pelican.
All that is on the engine is a flexible stump. The tube sheared off cleanly even with the idler pulley / belt......

Looks like a good excuse to also change out the alternator which is lazy to excite recently. It appears as if the alternator has to be removed to gain access to the tube which is bolted to the top of the block.
Is removing the alternator the correct approach? If so, is there a DIY for this part in additon?
FYI - I have a 99 3.4 - mech throttle (if significant).

I broke one on a boxster while taking out the expansion tank (broke while trying to separate the tubes). It was a BIG pain in the ***. The alt has to come out and the bolt on the back side of the tube is really hard to get at and to tighten. i used a long 1/4 extension and a wobble socket to tq it. But like i said this was on boxster....
Or, you can just glue it back on which is easier. I shortened mine deliberately and epoxied the ridgid part into the other after cleaning both parts. That was 5 years ago.
I will take a look at potentially using glue - may be a good alternative for the fill tube.
To add insult to injury - while looking at what is left the oil fill tube, I broke the plastic water union to the right of the oil fill pipe. This appears to join (vertical union) a short hose going to the head to a bundle that loops over the alternator / oil fill. This hose can be seen in Ivangene's photo just behind the airbox (union behind box bolted to engine).
Does anyone know the PN for this part? (I know a vacuum union would work - minus the bolt down - but would like the retention point.
Thank you
Marlin
