Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Leading evidence: 'Run into issues by mixing my tire matches' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check on tire rack' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

At that point I'll replace all 4 with something a lil more cost effective.

Dan, you have another option, which is to replace your fronts with 235x40x18s.

Suggestion
If you do end up changing sizes be sure that your rotational percentages are within 3% or you will heat up the differential and potentially burn it out.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I know this has been asked many times, but I'm struggling to find my answer.
I currently have 225/40ZR-18 Michelin Pilot Sport 4S XL on my front, and 285/35ZR-18 Michelin Pilot Sport 4S XL on the rear.
It's a 2002 Carrera 4 Cab. I realize now that my rears were too big.
I'm currently looking just to replace the rears. And looking to try a cheaper option since I really don't drive my car hard, nor track it. Just drive a lot of miles.
Will I run into issues by mixing my tire matches? I'd be keeping my fronts for another season most likely.
What rears would you recommend I try? Currently looking at :
Hankook Ventus V12
Continental ExtremeContact DWS06
Sumitomo Z5
I know tire sizes, but all of the other gobbly gook codes don't really make sense to me...
Personally I’d keep the same tires front/rear. Depending on how worn the fronts are, the new rears can be shaved to the same diameter to keep them matching or close enough.
Mismatched tires may not let the car handle the same as it would with a matched set. Rubber compound and grippiness will vary too. The rears will wear more than the fronts and I’d stick with the Michelin as well.
Dan, you have another option, which is to replace your fronts with 235x40x18s. You will have ~0.5 differential in diameter. It will be cheaper than going with all 4 tires or just replacing the rears. That's assuming you are running 8/10 wheels.
Fwiw, I run the 235x40x18 and 285x35x18 Michelin All Season 4s during the cold weather months without a problem on 8/10s. It's a much softer ride. Certainly not a performance ride since the sidewalls are taller. But it works.
Note: I have 2002 C2 w/o PSM. Tire diameters get trickier with a C4/C4S. Check on tire rack for diameter sizes.
I should have expanded my comment earlier, I kept it short as it was displaying weird on my phone.
I had meant to reference the tread shaving in conjunction with the stock size on the rears.
If you do end up changing sizes be sure that your rotational percentages are within 3% or you will heat up the differential and potentially burn it out.
I ended up just reaplacing the rears with the same tires. Michelin Pilot Sports. But 285/30's instead of the 285/40's.
When I originally ordered these tires, I was mid road trip driving it back to MN from purchase in LA. Probably not the best time to make detailed thought out decisions. Tire rack then called me back saying the 285/30's were out of stock and that the 285/40's would fit.
Findign out afterwards that it actually screws up the circumference with like a 7% difference.
The 285/30's should bring it back to about a 1-1.5% difference.
I have separate winters. I'm expecting that next spring, both my front and rear tires will be worn & ready to replace together. At that point I'll replace all 4 with something a lil more cost effective.
I think for my driving style the Pilot Sports are overkill.
