And like I said before: You don;t get yoru hands dirty on this mod and you don;t need any tools (except for a shop vac to clean your drivers side footwell first.)

Probably the best bang for the buck SOP mod there is.

Anyone know if that situation has changed (or with Softronic)?

But on the PLUS side: you don't have to jack up the car - don;t have to drain the oil - and you don't have to use any kind of tool.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

...this thing is cool. Installed in a 99' C4 Tip - probably the 'doggiest' 996 there is (supposedly). Throttle response is significantly 'speeded up' and feels very 'snappy'. Car feels like it has way more power than it does and results in a permanent grin whenever your foot is on the gas. Probably the best bang for the buck SOP mod there is. I can only imagine what it would feel like with 25 or so extra horses that are promised with a sport cat and Fabspeed or equivalent intake mod. And the SOP feel must be even better with a 6-speed - unbelieveable. I give it 4-stars-Plus out of 4 stars.
Cruise control works fine...
Tranny shifts fine...
Car goes like Rocket...
...Priceless....
Well worth the bucks and the install is EASY but a PITA due to contortionist requirements to install. But on the PLUS side: you don't have to jack up the car - don;t have to drain the oil - and you don't have to use any kind of tool. Very neat - this is a secret weapon but the genie is out of the bottle now
Marlon, did your car have a drive-by-wire tip-in dead spot? Like when your totally off the gas, and roll into it gently, and there's a brief delay before the gas pedal motion is converted to the engine speeding up? And if so, is the first mm of throttle response any different with this gadget?
Rally - My impression is that there is no delay off idle - none. My SOP is telling me that it is the first 30% or so of throttle pedal travel that is the most affected. You have to sort of be careful actually because it is so quick to go when the pedal is pushed. Makes the car feel like it has more power. The engine does not hestiate at all.
Having said that the engine does not hesitate - let me qualify that by saying I did not do any full-throttle-from-a-dead-stop starts I was too scared to. I will tomorrow.
I might try one--I like to play with the heel/toe technique, but it is pretty tricky (for me, anyway) with the 996 pedal heights and/or the gas pedal programming profile.
Another 'voice of experience' - until a person tries it, it might sound kind of gimmicky, but after owning six or seven 911's and playing with everything from overbore TB's-to-sport mufflers and a lot of stuff in between, this thing makes a difference in the way the car feels. The engine revs up much faster - so in practice it might even shave some time off a lap even juice up a qtr mile. I am very skeptical about these sorts of claims and things, but I have to admit that it works. If it did not, I'd take it out and send it back - simple.
...and you don't even get your hands dirty
If it gets rid of the dead spot at throttle tip-in, there's nothing "gimmicky" about it. I'm seriously considering one of these but am balking at the price a little. That said, the e-gas system has driven me nuts since I got the car. I can't believe it came from the factory this way...
From what I understand, an ECU flash eliminates the dead spot and much, much more. I believe the cost of GIAC and Softronic are $800-1000. In light of this, does the $299 price point for Sprint Booster make sense?
That's a good point. Heel/toe with a slow throttle response is like hitting a changeup. Regarding remapping the engine, I asked GIAC a couple years ago and they didn't offer an M96/03S (i.e., X51) remap. Anyone know if that situation has changed (or with Softronic)?
Well, I'm glad the dead/flat spot isn't just a "noob--learn the car" issue for me.
Having experience with GIAC products in the past, the driveability benefits on part throttle FAR outweigh anything else. Time to do some more research. Shame that a flash costs $1k, when a whole friggin' chip cost only $400 for other cars.
Maybe made sense for a $90k car, not so much for a mid-$30s one.
Well said, would be really great to run a SB'd egas car against a cable-car and non SDB egas car to compare. My feeling is that the SB car would be a very close call with the cable-car.
$300 sounds pretty good to me considering there isn't a single performance mod available for a Porsche under $300 besides a B&M shifter. You also have to factor in the exchange rate as these are not made here in the USA which stands at 1.30 or so.
I also want to clear up that these products will not be offered in a group buy at the manufacturer's request. I apologize for any confusion but we haven't advertised this and we do not have permisison from the manufacturer to do so.
FYI- ALL SPRINT BOOSTERS CAN BE TRIED FOR 30 DAYS RISK FREE. IF YOUR NOT 100% SATISFIED WITH THIS PRODUCT FEEL FREE TO SEND IT BACK FOR A FULL REFUND AS LONG AS ITS RETURNED IN THE SAME CONDITION YOU RECEIVED IT IN. FEEL FREE TO POST UP ANYMORE QUESTIONS YOU MAY HAVE.
I'm so curious that I'm going to order one and check it out for myself. The risk-free offer is too good to pass up and I'm sure I can find a spare hour to install the thing.
For what it is worth, I was at my indy's yesterday and he mentionned that you can program select the same effect with the Revo software. Maybe the others Giac etc...have that adjustment also.
Pete
The SB + the LWFW would almost be dangerous though
You would be bouncing off your rev limiter all the time.
