Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I'm looking to get into a GT3 but the wife says I need to get rid of my car first. This is a daily driver with track duties. It has a bunch of extras, a new engine, and 2 warranties (engine and aftermarket) - both good for 9 more months. The car is not pristine, but the price reflects its flaws.
Here is the most pertinent info:

Bumper to Bumper aftermarket warranty good until 4/22/2010 or 86,000 miles ($50 deductible) (should be transferrable for a fee).
Car has been updated and maintained by Ruf including religious oil changes, brake flushes, scheduled maintenance etc.
Car is currently set up for track use, but I have all stock bits.

[The car would need a serious detail and the Ruf front bumper needs a respray to look that pristine again. Exterior has a few rock chips as well. ]
Summary:
MK1 996 with updated engine still under 2 warranties. This is a GREAT daily driver that is
very capable
at the track. When washed and polished up, it is still a looker. However, it is not in concours condition, but mechanically it is sound (since most of the major components are new) AND still has a warranty.
I have title in hand and need to move this quickly to facilitate my other deal, so the prices are:
$26.5K as currently setup
and
all extras are yours.
[Wheels, stock parts, etc.]
$24.5K with suspension, but without track goodies
(minus the GMG roll bar, Cobra seats, extra wheels, harnesses, camera mount, fabspeed)
$23.5K if you also remove upgraded suspension parts
(i.e., PSS9 and sway bars) - this would put you pretty close to factory, but with the Ruf Aerokit, new engine, 3rd radiator, both warranties, upgraded stereo and the few other mods listed above.
Stock front bumper is yours either way, and it's already sprayed to match.
PPI welcome (Dallas has 2 dealers, Ruf and a number of indy shops nearby)
Please dont hesitate to contact me with any questions or requests for photos.

Thanks Andy. Still a lot of moving parts, so moving up to a 3 is hanging in the air. But, it would really be less complicated if my wife didn't mind me having 3 cars. And, if it doesn't work out this time, there's always tomorrow
I do have the front GT3 control arms. They are reverse mounted for extra camber. I don't remember the actual alignment numbers now, but should be around -2.5 front and -2.0 rear (or something like that). I didn't get around to putting on the toe links though.
I also should have mentioned that the car has the X51 oil pan as well.

Tom, the fact that it's not in concours condition is hardly a flaw! And silver is an easy color to renew with the right materials and technique.
I'm just guessing that the amount of money you have put into the car exceeds your asking price, so what you really want to say here is that the price reflects the cost of all of your upgrades, and that you're throwing the car in for free!
Good luck, and hurry up and get that GT3! I've been waiting for you
Great marketing idea! Free car - you pay for upgrades only! lol.

Congrats on your ride, that think looks like a beast! It looks like you and me are the only ones skipping spec boxster...
Heh, since we just had our first baby in May, my wife isn't going to let me into a Sweet Ride 997_3 like that! I suppose I could wait a year and do it then, but I got a hall pass to get a 996_3 now, so I'm trying to strike while the iron is hot. I'm pretty sure I'd be happy with a 6_3, and the prices have started to crater on them.

Thanks all for the nice comments!
Below are some very recent pics (July 8/9) after the car had a wash. Still cleans up pretty good! Actually a really awesome 10-foot car now that I see the pics! lol. You can really see the reflections of the house/trees etc in the paint. (also note: 96 degrees at 9:42 PM! Yikes!!)
When she goes, I'm really going to miss her...

I have a 996 GT3 in mind, but am waiting for PPI results. Should be Wednesday. Car will be delivered to Ruf a 7-10 days (about) after that.
You free that day

I will be in Greenville, SC the next two weeks but I will be back in town on Saturday 7/25 and Sunday 7/26. I would love to meet you for coffee one of those mornings.
Congrats on selling your 996, and good luck on the GT3 passing the PPI. Looking forward to some pics if your purchase goes through. There is hope for any of us looking to sell/trade up to a GT3 based on your success. Nice going!
I was in the same boat too (and my C2 was similarly modified also), maybe 996 GT3 prices won't continue their fall for too much longer? Eh, maybe I'll hang onto my C2... Anyway, congrats and make sure you tell us about your GT3 also!
