Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

About 3 days ago, my car stopped locking/unlocking with the button on the key... the red light on the key still flashes nice and bright. So I've had to lock the car with the key in the door handle - how 20th-century. Think it's just the key's battery? Or some greater electrical gremlin?

POST 2Original post

Does your second key fob work? You may need to do a soft reset of the fob (install battery reverse polarity for 10 seconds, then reinstall correctly). If that doesn't do it the key may need to be reprogrammed with PIWIS or PST2.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

When I get home I'll try the 2nd key fob. I'll try the reverse battery thing, too. And, if I need, I assume Durametric can do the key reprogramming? (But isn't that for just the immobilizer?)

POST 4Original post

Quotes source post: 6732681

Unfortunately durametric will not perform this function. There are two functions...one is for central locking (the remote function), the other is the immobilizer (integrated transponder coil). In both cases you will need IPAS and 24-digit code (barcode label on key grip). Make sure the remote and interior alarm dash light work properly. 1. If the LED on the hand−held transmitter stays dark when the transmitter is operated, this is an indication of either an empty battery or a faulty hand−held transmitter. 2. Radio transmission is OK if the LED on the transmitter flashes when the transmitter is operated and the alarm readiness lamp on the dashboard flashes rapidly.

POST 5Original post

Make sure your memory seats work too if equiped. They have to go to a special to program this feature.

GT3 seats, sorry.

POST 7Original post

Been there done that. I'll bet the remote on the key is kaput. Switch it to a valet key and use the other. Oh and BTW, it isn't covered on warranty.
