Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello, 1. I only have one key. It seems that you can arm and disarm the alarm system via the physical key in the lock (not just by the button on the key). Does this mean I really only need to buy a second key WITHOUT the alarm button (i.e., buy the cheap metal key without the expensive remote piece that needs to be programmed)? Or would I be missing out on some type of functionality. The second key will go to my wife for her occasional drives, or as backup. 2. When I turn the key to the right and hold it there in the lock, the sunroof and windows close. Alternatively, when I turn the key to the left, only the windows open. The sunroof does not open, along with the windows, when I turn the key to the left. Should it? 3. When I start the car, my engine lid light comes on. It goes off after driving a little bit. I had a another person tell me that their 911 does the same thing. Is this normal? Thanks, Todd

POST 3Original post

1. Probably 2. No, sunroof should stay closed. More often than not you would only want to have the windows open with that key. 3. Your engine lid is trying to escape and make a run for Germany, better tie it down with some bungee cords.

I think you can get a non-remote key - but it still will need to be "programmed" to the immobilizer of the car.
