Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I ran the course both with PSM on and off and didn't really notice a difference in how it ran.
Leading evidence: 'Run course both' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Run after' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. Next run I cut two seconds off my time and did the same thing for the run after that.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Yesterday the local PCA chapter held an autocross in Charlotte so I figured this would be a great opportunity to get acquainted with my car in a performance driving setting.
Wow what fun it was to throw my car around the course and see what it is capable of (at least in my hands!). The first time through my time was pretty slow. The averages during the day for the course were in the 46-47 second range. My first run was a 52!!!
But the car felt really stable so I knew I could do better. Next run I cut two seconds off my time and did the same thing for the run after that. My best time of the day ended up being a 45.9 with the winner of the event finishing off with around a 41 second lap time (in a 997 turbo) so I think for being my first I did relatively well.
As for my impressions about the car - it is a LOT more stable than I ever anticipated it would be. I ran the course both with PSM on and off and didn't really notice a difference in how it ran. It was probably because I wasn't exploring the limits of the car but hopefully that'll happen in time...
Even when I thought the back end was going to start spinning on me, it still held on. The car also had nice acceleration on the straights. The course was short so I was in first gear the whole time but when I needed power, I was never short of it.
Then of course when punching it into the corners the brakes did the job quite well. I was real happy with my improvement in time throughout the day and the car's performance as a whole.
I also got a couple of comments on how my car's exhaust sounded at full throttle on the course!
So next up is a DE that I want to try in October. I think I can get addicted to this type of driving - it sure beats commuting to work in my car every day!
Thanks!
The cost was $25 for four runs. But we got through the four before lunch time so we had three more runs after lunch. Seven runs for less than the cost of a night at the movies was a worthwhile investment in my book!
The event started at 10am (inspection was at 9am) and we were done by 2:30pm.
So guess who's going magnetic numbers and helmet shopping this week?
Unfortunately I couldn't make it... was out of town. I have done the last two DE's at CMP... great fun. Bought my helmet at the Simson outlet in Mooresville... they have good pricing.
I called them on Saturday morning to see what their hours were. They close at 12pm so there was no way I was going to be able to make it. Fortunately they had several loaners on hand at the event.
Congratulations! It's an addictive hobby. I've been autocrossing about 8 years now and I still find it challenging.
Keep at it, take a school (most clubs offer a autocross school at the beginning of the season) and you will watch your times come down.
Good for you! Sounds like it was really fun. We had a similar event last Friday, but I was out of town and had to miss it. I'm looking forward to my next opportunity.
Wow how did you manage that? I'm in Southpark and live up near Concord. It takes me 45-60 minutes to get home every night. I can't imagine getting to Moorseville before 6pm unless I left at 4pm.
Yeah I know they don't offer loaners at DE events which is why I have to get my helmet before then. That is if I could still go to the one in October...I just noticed the second day is the wife's birthday!!! I brought it to her attention yesterday just to get a reaction. So I have to think how I'm going to work around that one!
You're not kidding about it being addictive. I had dreams that night about the sounds, smell, and excitement about the event. There were quite a few air-cooled cars out there that really have a unique combination of these elements that made them quite entertaining to watch when I was manning one of the corner stations.
But mostly it was quite an experience putting my car through the course and getting a feel for what it could do!
I'm surprised it took me this long to get around to doing this. I had my 944 for nearly seven years and tried to do one once when I lived in New York. I overslept and got there late so I didn't have time to pass inspection. But I'm glad I went and certainly look forward to participating in more of them!
