Porsche doesn't make a "blank" plate for that spot (like the "batwing"), as far as I know, so I assume they used the CD tray one, because with the surrounding faceplate on the receiver, it's a little wider than a CD case.

I followed some hints from fellow list members and used the clear silicone and just held in them place overnight, with blue painters tape.

Just dry fit everything first, in case you need to trim a tad and I used a toothpick to apply the silicone inside the rings.

I have a AS painted "batwing", but I may change the stereo and move the AC controls, so I'm waiting to install that and get the cubby tray painted, etc.

I won't say it was hot, down in south Louisiana...but I did have to use the wet-vac on the carpet, after the pedal install.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Got around to doing some initial mods, I wanted, this past weekend. I won't say it was hot, down in south Louisiana...but I did have to use the wet-vac on the carpet, after the pedal install. Alright, first was some bumper plugs, to clean up the front-end. Easy enough...., and btw officer, no that is not what you think it is, sticking out of my bumper. 100_0207.jpg 100_0215.jpg I also added some aluminum gauge rings. Nice easy mod, but wish they were just a tad less shiny, to match the other brushed aluminum in the car. 100_0210.jpg 100_0218.jpg Lastly, I added some aluminum pedals. I really like the look of these on my car. Adds some visual impact on that dark floor (black pedals/black carpet), and matches well with the Artic Silver on Black, plus some of my interior accents. 100_0212.jpg 100_0217.jpg Here's a shot of the interior, when done. 100_0213.jpg 100_0216.jpg

POST 2Original post

yep, that brings it all together nicely! good job!

POST 3Original post

Nice job. Looks great. Is that a satelitte receiver below your stock stereo? How did you mount it so cleanly?

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 6703851

Yeah, it's a XM/Sirius receiver that was already installed in the car, when I purchased it. Porsche doesn't make a "blank" plate for that spot (like the "batwing"), as far as I know, so I assume they used the CD tray one, because with the surrounding faceplate on the receiver, it's a little wider than a CD case. All-in-all, it was a very clean install.

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yeah Ed, got both the pedals and gauge rings from an Ebay seller, here in Louisiana. Seller's handle is " sportscarextras ". Here's a link . The gauge rings were aluminum, not plastic and the pedals are about 4 ml thick. Both items are made in Tawian, but good quality. Had to snip one of the gauge rings, a little, for a perfect fit and the brake pedal (for a tiptronic), isn't curved as much as the original, so that wasn't a perfect fit, but still doable. Dana

POST 9Original post

results look great though, really made a nice subtle "pop" to the interior - great pics too!!

POST 10Original post

Nice job! I've been looking at the same for my AS cab... Your's is the fourth painted center console I've seen and I'm really liking that. Other than the gauge rings, is there anything else you're going to go aluminum on? Did you remove the gauge, or install the rings while it was in place? Thanks for sharing the pics. Rudy

POST 11Original post

I just want to compliment your post and the trouble you went through on the before and after pics. This is one of the more interesting posts in the last few weeks. Great job

POST 12Original post

POST 16 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 6704723

I love the painted console...I also have the painted seat backs. I do want to continue the paint scheme up from the console to the radio. I have a AS painted "batwing", but I may change the stereo and move the AC controls, so I'm waiting to install that and get the cubby tray painted, etc. That's probably it for the aluminum accents. For me, a couple of things here and there work, but too many pieces and you lose the subtleness. Having said that, the final touch I'm thinking is the aluminum trim for the strip below the airbag and above the glovebox. That piece actually follows across to the drivers side, with a couple of small trim pieces and kinda breaks up the black with that horizontal line. Just not sure yet? May look for more pics, first. As for the gauge rings...I just did them in place. Real easy DYI. I followed some hints from fellow list members and used the clear silicone and just held in them place overnight, with blue painters tape. Just dry fit everything first, in case you need to trim a tad and I used a toothpick to apply the silicone inside the rings.
