Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

10 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Should there be an ID# on it somewhere that should match the VIN of the vehicle? Thanks, Todd

POST 2Original post

No number to match the VIN. there is a Porsche part number on the engine case. Remanufactured engines have an "x" at the end, so if you engine was replaced with a reman, it should have the x.

POST 3Original post

post a picture... many people can tell just from looking at it - took my shop guy like 2 seconds to say "yup, original motor" pics of the underside and sides behind the wheels something to do with a coating? on the original motor ? ? ? ?

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Ok thanks. My car should arrive on or around Friday. Will follow back up with y'all. Does anybody know exactly when the 996 switched from cable throttle to e-gas?

POST 5Original post

Order a CoA from PCNA. It will have all the information to match chassis/trans/engine. http://www.porsche.com/filestore.asp...letype=default

POST 6Original post

Original engines are coated in cosmoline, reman are spanky clean.
