Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

That said, I replaced the oil pressure sending unit..
Leading evidence: 'Replace oil pressure sending unit' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check connections' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

the pressure would drop to 0 but the car sounded the same and ran the same.

what are you running under that bonnet in the rear?
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I recently got this car and on my first track outing I noticed that I was getting what seems to be false oil pressure readings. ie. the pressure would drop to 0 but the car sounded the same and ran the same. The readings were Intermittent with no signs of 0 or very low oil pressure.... (If my oil pressure dropped to 0 for 15 seconds while driving 100mph+ on a track my motor would be toast). That said, I replaced the oil pressure sending unit.. Since then my readings seemed to be "normal". I just came off of 5 straight track days and noticed yesterday I again received the bogus readings?
What could be causing this?
I'd start with the connectors on the cable that meet the sending unit. It's possible they're loose on the new unit, causing an intermittent disconnect. There may also be a slight layer of corrosion on the connector preventing good contact with the new sending unit.
Andy
+1 for connections.... clean the hell out of them and make sure they are in firm contact with the terminals....
I suppose it is possible to have a defective unit too.... ???? just a thought
I too have had the rush of seeing the pressure drop to zero . . . but only happened twice, then never again. Looking at other threads on this, I have also heard the connectors are not very well isolated from water--just in case it had rained or you had detailed.
Funny--my first reaction when I saw this was to look in the rear view mirror for smoke!
Pete,
I couldn't find a pattern with the reading nor did I push the envelope with; once I noticed the needle moving around and eventually dropping to zero I pulled into the paddock ASAP... However the one time I noticed it was on a straight at Road Atlanta... Un Nerving @ 140+ mph
Thanks. Stock 3.6 engine. Straight out the back. It's real Loud!
No real mods to the engine besides cold air and exhaust. Koni challenge requires stock. Better for my wallett.
Back on topic. Any other odd ball causes for oil pressure fluctuation. As mentioned I don't think I'm hitting 0 oil pressure but if I'm getting a dip in the oil pressure it may cause the sending unit or guage to show movement albiet too much movement. I just want to be careful.
