Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

25 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

2 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

New solution to eliminate the look of that unattractive white square on your windshield. EzShadow and new black attachment strips make the EZ Pass virtually invisible without impacting the EZ Pass use. Not having the EZ Pass affixed creates safety issues at the toll plaza and the possibility of fines. You can paint yours black but it is messy and still leaves the attachment strips quite visible. EzShadow is the simple and inexpensive solution. Check it out at www.ezshadow.com . See the difference it makes in the comparison below.

POST 2Original post

Spray painted mine black (including the strips)...similar results... midnightrun.jpg

POST 4Original post

I just put mine up against the winshield when I come to the EZpass station and it beeps. Do this for all my vehicles as I hate that thing on the winshield. But I live in CA so maybe it is different here.

POST 5Original post

I mount mine behind my inspection sticker. Works fine. -td

+1.... I dont do tolls much anyways.

POST 7Original post

I hold mine up to the windshield when I need it and it's in the glovebox the rest of the time. Not really a problem here.

POST 8Original post

Quotes source post: 6680246

But.. but.... you dont have a glovebox ??

POST 9Original post

Quotes source post: 6680275

I knew someone would chime in with that... the glovebox in the rear center console.

Oh! I thought that was a humidor, my mistake

POST 11Original post

Ours are little stickers with the RFID chips built into them. So now when you sell the car or replace the windshield the sticker is destroyed when you peel it off and they will glady sell you a new one for $15.00. You can not longer rent/lease it. You have to buy the sticker.

POST 12Original post

Someone posted that they hid it under the plastic near the drivers wiper and that worked. You could not see it at all.

POST 13Original post

I just moved to Indiana to take care of this problem. There are no toll roads in Fort Wayne, so no EZ-Pass is required.

POST 14Original post

My car is white, so I guess the EZPass doesn't really stand out that much. Now I'm going to have to go and check :P.

POST 15Original post

i put mine between the passenger seat and console. No one sees it there the transponders always pick it up. i live near Philly, and i go through 20-30 tolls a month. roy

POST 17Original post

I leave mine in my center console because I have a cab and fear the gash and dash bait that an EZPass could present. But it does beg the question: has anyone left the EZPass in the center console and gone through a toll? Does it work from there?

POST 18Original post

I have an exterior ez pass (black transponder mounts to license plate) works great, and im not sure if an ez pass is worth anything anyway.

POST 19Original post

Quotes source post: 6690878

I have done that by accident and it did not register. I was lucky not to get a ticket.

POST 20Original post

Quotes source post: 6692801

Dont they just take of picture of the plate and bill you? That is what they do in CA unless you do not have your vehicle registered with the toll authority..

POST 21Original post

Quotes source post: 6692961

That's what they claim, but I'm guessing that their system is not as effective as they would like people to believe. Mine was an honest mistake and I never heard anything back, or had anything added to my monthly bill.

POST 22Original post

they make them to attach to the license plate on the screws that hold the plate on. the glass on certain cars like a surburban is too thick to register as you go through tolls. You just have to ask them for that model when you order one. I've got them on all our cars...

POST 23Original post

Is it OK to paint the white EZ Pass unit? I thought of that, but worried it would interfear with the machines reading it? If not, I have some nice flat-black paint waiting to hide the ugly POS !

POST 24Original post

Quotes source post: 6696797

I figure that as long as it's not metallic paint you should be okay.

POST 25Original post

You know I went to the exterior first because ez pass started sending me violations from the NJ-PA crossings near philly last year, not sure why but the exterior fixed it for me, and since my car is black it doesn't stand out much.
