I am due for inspection, and figure I can try and put on a traditional air filter, reset the codes, and take it through inspection with no faults.

Hello, Is there some type of software program for my laptop that will read the OBDII codes and reset them? Is there a special cable that needs to be purchased to go from the laptop to the car? My engine light comes on intermittently and am told it is due to my K&N oil based air filter and the MAF. I am due for inspection, and figure I can try and put on a traditional air filter, reset the codes, and take it through inspection with no faults. THanks

While you can pick up a OBD II reader at any auto part store for less than $100, the Durametric has some additional funtionality including the ability to clear airbag lights and read the DME. I bought one a couple months back.
