Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I really amazes me how inexpensive these used cars are.
Leading evidence: 'Use cars are' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Use car as dd' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

My plan is to use the car as DD for the next two years, and then slowly morph it into a dedicated (ish) track car.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Rennlisters, a long time lurker here, finally in the market.
I've been on a 2-3 month hunt for a 2002-2003 996, coupe, manual tranny. Color is not as important - rather prefer a well cared for, PCA member car. I have found tons of cabs, but few well cared for coupes.
I figured dropping a post in here would not be a bad idea if anyone is thinking of moving on from their current ride.
All threads are weak without pics, so here is what is being replaced...
If anyone is thinking of selling, or know of a good car please let me know. Quality of the car is much more important than mileage or cost.
Thanks!
Thank you for the reply.
Im located in the Houston area, near the medical center.
The most important aspects of the car is that it is a coupe (c2 preferred over C4s), and it has a manual transmission. Of course, anything in addition (PSE, Bilstein PSS9s...) would be great, but not a must.
I figure that this interest of ours is so addictive that even the most cared for, babied cars are eventually sold for something faster, newer, older...
Good luck on your search! I am not selling (planning on keeping this car a VERY long time) but there are sure to be some folks looking for something different. This is a small community and you will get a nice car from an enthusiast.
Still more details needed. How many miles? Warranty? What will you use it for: casual use, DD, track? Distance from home willing to look? Price willing to pay? If you buy one from a Rennlister you have a much higher chance of getting a well cared for car than from a stealer or the average Joe.
Im thinking the same way, looking for a 99 to 04, would prefer a 99, money.
Im sure Ill only have the car about a year, two at most, then moving on to 997... Turbo? Whatever
TONS of Cabs out there, finding a good C2 kinda hard.

I'm in Reno, shopping Sacramento and BayArea.
My plan is to use the car as DD for the next two years, and then slowly morph it into a dedicated (ish) track car.
Im willing to look anywhere, but having grown up in Wisconsin, am concerned about harsh winters on the cars (read: salt) and its subsequent rusting issues --> so northern cars must have been garaged for the season.
Miles are less important to me if that car is well cared for and would evaluate on a case by case basis. Ideally I'd like less than 40K miles. Im willing to pay market value (or above if it is exceptional). I have been researching prices nearly daily and have found most 2002-2003 vintages between 34K to 44K (some even CPO).
Thanks.
Malakas- My '03 C4S coupe is for sale.

It was my daily driver in summer and winter and certainly saw its share of winter chemicals. But, it was garaged day and night, detailed annually and cleaned as often as poissible during the winter. I think Porsche would be the first to tell you that the paint and structural members of the car have been treated to withstand any material deterioration from winter chemicals. PM me if you would like more information.
