Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

39 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

ls911 - OK, so we have had some fun with you. Welcome to Rennlist. It is customary for "newbies" to introduce themselves, tell us a little about their car and to post a couple of pics of the car, because we LOVE pics! So now comes my usual and customary "newbie initiation" comment: Come on "newbie," post the !@#$%^&* pics! < Tim whispers so only ls911 can hear > The other guys make me do this to all the "newbies!" If I don't do it, they won't let me stay here. < Tim stops whispering > We are just having a little fun with you, no malice intended! Once again, welcome to the Porsche Phunny Pharm.

POST 14 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Ok gents, you all got me good. I must admit I have been enjoying all the comments and feedback. I Just bought a 2001 996 about a month ago. It has been very well taken care of (Seattle area). I am the second owner, 12,200 miles, PSM, 6spd, sport seats, white dials/alum. trim. I USED to be a big corvette fan (owned 3 of them) but I always had an interest in the 911. I made the big move on one and it is better than I could have ever imagined. Now I am addicted and can't stop reading, researching, cleaning and driving it. This took me to the orange cap subject. I probably should just get the fabspeed and call it good. Niagara plastics does not have the cap serial number available using their web search. Seems like the cap and fabspeed do the same thing (?) I am looking for just a bit more sound and thought this might do the trick. It's probably the start of an adiction

POST 15Original post

Great looking car. Welcome! Dell, you were correct onm the pumpkins! ls911... you will be modding your car a lot if you are going to habg out with this crowd. First suggestion... change out the orange side markers and put some clear ones on. Welcome again.

POST 16Original post

Your car is a low mileage looker. Nice pics and welcome. I'm in the minority, but I still have my pumkins and prefer the look.

POST 17 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Appreciate all the compliments. I had the side markers replaced a few weeks ago after learning of it and seeing the difference on this site. A cheap change that made a big difference, cleaner look. As far as mods go I am open to them and any of your suggestions. I will do more as time and $ allows. For now it is stored for most of the winter (downside of Spokane living) Glad to be part of this great site Thanks again

POST 18Original post

ls911 - Great l@@king p-car! Thanks for sharing the pics and the info about the car. Before you do the "orange cap" mod, do another "orange" mod, as Dutchie said, and "harvest those pumpkins," and replace them with clear side markers. The orange cap mod is not really that great, it only adds noticeable sound at WOT (wide open throttle) but it is easy and cheap. Here are a few additional ideas on some mods to help you with the addiction! o B&M Short Shifter. o Aluminum Gauge Rings. o Aluminum Pedals. o Garage Door Opener Switch installed in Horseshoe. o Paint the Brake Calipers Red. o Paint "top hats" Silver. o Increase your remote key fob range with the antenna DYI. o Stock mufflers to PSE mod.

POST 19 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I took note of all those suggestions and will look into them. How do you go about installing the garage opener? is it a DIY? What are the "top hats" Thanks Ludwig

Great cost effective improvements, I will work on them this winter starting with the garage opener. Your 996 looks great, I'm surprised it's for sale, unless your are upgrading. Very helpfull tips/mods Im all over it Thanks again Tim

This Is911 (more like Was911) newb got an 01 996 in 07? And now he's acting like he owns the 996 forum. You can now go on your rampage like a girl while I go shopping for a car or two. Oh, I have an orage cap I found in my neighbor's garage, if you still need it. It's a little chewed up by a rodent of some type, but useable. I'll be glad to send it to you if you pay the S & H. Yeah, you may start today's chore of writing posts in here so you can meet your daily quota

Strangely, the habitat of these rodents like raccoons, possums, or some mammals like deers happen to be high up in the hills in the bushy areas like North of Beverly Hills above Sunset, Bel Air, Malibu neighborhoods with home values in the multi-millions. Once in a while, they do chew up what-could-have-been-free your orange cap, but no it doesn't suck living around them.

You're a high roller, you are, it's ok My bad for bringing back that last thread, it's just such a classic, I undertand you closing it and reaching back for something, anything....lol This has all been way to easy and predictable, I do feel sligtly guilty. Will leave it alone now... Best of luck with your new car JJ

POST 31Original post

You can't be serious? Pitiful attempt at a thread jack.

POST 32 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

lol Well....you kind of need to know the JJ style to appreciate.

POST 33Original post

So... who's going to start with the keyboard warrior threats? (I have an idea who) I've kinda watched this grow into a multi thread dispute..... Somewhere, at some point in time, this is going to get ugly.

POST 34 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

No worries Eharrison, have never and will never threaten anyone, not my thing at all. Yes I admit I made some fun of him and his threads (I did know he would go off on me) but that is as far as I'll go. I do agree this is now old news and I'm done with it. I do not like closing threads for several reasons, if need be or requested I will do so.

POST 35Original post

ls, seriously consider getting those rear strakes to complete the kit. it gives that narrowbody rear some additional width that i think looks fantastic. as for the battle between JJB and ls.... dude guys seriously you both sound like cool guys so let's try to make up. can't believe i'm the one trying to put some water on the flame. why not start over and start from scratch? there are too many nerds in here so keeping the cool kids playing in the sandbox together well is my interest.

POST 36 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Will consider it BC, I have to see them up close and personal. By pictures they seem to look stuck on with glue, like an after thought or something. Will keep my eyes open for a 996 that has them. The JJ thing got a bit overblown, no real battle in my eyes, just a little poke and fun. I will stop as I've previously stated, probably most are sick of reading about it. I was very surprised on what you wrote You must not be completely off the meds, right? Well...done with my work and rennlisting for now the Zags are on shortly

POST 37Original post

Oh well, then I'll have to watch Amerian Idol then for the cat fights.... FYI, I stayed at the Davenport Hotel in Spokane in December. What a hotel! I like your town too. I hope I'll head up there again and enjoy more of it. So where are the good bars downtown?

Yes, a great hotel it is, built it by Kirkland Cutter, famous architect. I am a bit out of the bar scene now but know of great restaurants with nice lounge spots in both Spokane and Coeur D Alene. If you make it this way again feel free to PM me. I'll be glad to buy you a drink and get you the info you need. I will suggest to you another great place to stay, The CDA resort, ID. Top notch lakeside resort that has won many awards. In the summer time Coeur D Alene is the place to be An easy 40-45minute drive to downtown Spokane, no real traffic. Comparable rates to the Davenport. Regardless were you stay, a visit there should be on your list http://www.cdaresort.com/
