Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi all,
I found a 996 turbo 01 and inquired about it. But it has a lot of issues. I was wondering what you all thought. This is just stuff the used car dealer told me based on a porsche dealer inspection, not even based on my own initiated ppi which I would also do cause there are some porsche pros near me.
Anyway, this is what they found:
1 headlight washer not working
cig lighter not working
alignment needed
bank 1 lifter dampage (what does this mean?).
rear spoiler throws code, I think it goes up and down manually with button, but not automatically.
The tiptronic shift buttons are backwards, upshift is downshift, downshift is upshift. Thought you all would find that interesting.
Body drains are dirty (I have no idea what this means).
It has an entirely aftermarket exhaust headers, cats, air diverter valve, whatever that means.
Clean carfax, but the owner can't find service records.
Anyway they want $45k and it has 55k miles on it.
Paint and inside is really nice.
Needs new front tires.
So, I think I'm passing. Might have to go out of state. Save me on sales tax I think.
So if someone wouldn't mind explaining to me what the bank 1 lifter dampage (slight leak?) and dirty body drains means, I would appreciate it. Also, I think I need to hear someone say I made the right choice in passing on it. Man, I wanted it to be in good shape so bad.
Thanks all sorry for the long post.
I'd pass - no records, obvious modifications to the car that don't seem to be well documented, lifter damage that will need fixing, etc. Seems like you could find a nicer car out there with fewer potential issues.
lifter damage means opening up the engine, body drains dirty means was an outdoor car (not covered)... sounds like the owner didnt care much for it....stay away.
