My bumper and skirts were oem, but I used a mashaw wing, which fit and looked great, but did take a little prep work to rid it of pinholes and other imperfections.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have a 04 996 that I am thinking of installing the OEM Aero Kit on. The car was rear ended and pushed into the car in front of me so I figured why not. The body shop that I am going to use to repair the car quoted $1,500 to paint and install the kit. I thought that was a little high as they are already being paid to repaint the front bumper as a result of the accident. How hard is it to install the kit if I just had them paint it? I have had the front bumper off and reinstalled by myself in less than an hour. Is the aero kit bumper any harder to install? Thanks.....

POST 2Original post

the kit is a DIY... I did the MK1 install and is easy to do.

POST 3Original post

The install is pretty easy...I also did it myself on a 99 (MKI). Installing the skirts took some time, but not much longer than installing the bumper. Is the kit you plan to use OEM? If so, the labor should be a lot less because the OEM parts (as opposed to aftermarket fiberglass or frp) are MUCH, much easier to prep. Maybe your shop is quoting you the amount of time for aftermarket parts. My bumper and skirts were oem, but I used a mashaw wing, which fit and looked great, but did take a little prep work to rid it of pinholes and other imperfections. Good luck.

POST 4Original post

I did my bumper with the help of a friend - took a couple of hours. The dealer did the side skirts and charged $150.
