This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Does anyone have any official Porsche GT3 side sills technical diagrams. I think the document number is 80180. I am arguing with a garage about holes that were drilled into my 996 to attached the side skirts on!!!! They have now been removed by another garage and cleaned and filled and re-attached with tape which is what they should of been done with in the first place. However the garage owner says that they should be screwed in????? Any help much appreciated. thanks Nick

POST 4Original post

I think that the original kit relied upon double-sided tapes plus a couple of plastic screws in the wheel arches to locate the sills. Later kits were supplied with rails that were screwed to the original body and the GT skirts were then clipped, taped and screwed to the car. My local Porsche approved bodyshop insisted that that was the only proper way.....

POST 5Original post

both my stainless and carbon ones were held in by double sided tape

POST 6Original post

I think we are talking about side skirts, not door sills. Mine are clipped and glued (holes were drilled). If they followed the tech bulletin, you will have no corrosion. But they are not coming off.

POST 7Original post

I would suggest that you be very careful about attaching the side skirts to the 996 via double sided tape. Just rear of the door sill my skirts have peeled away due to the slight concave body. In discussion with RUF and others I discovered that most are using a bead of glue along the edging to ensure the skirts don't peal away. D.W. 2001 C4 loaded with RUF aerokit

POST 9Original post

My understanding is that you'll need both.... (several drill points per side)
