Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

15 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm talking about 2002 year models. Which of these have less depreciation. C2 C4 C4S C2 Convertible C4 Convertible Targa

POST 2Original post

My guess would be the C4CAB and C2CAB. But the best source is the numbers at the back of excellence that list those numbers over the years based on the market conditions for used P-Cars (granted MY02 has only been around 3 years).

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Why Cabs depreciate more? I thought people like Cabs.

POST 4Original post

Sorry, I got it totally backwards. I read your post too quick.....I thought you meant which would not depreciate as much. Sorry. I change my reply to targa and C2. Targa b/c it is to close to the pricepoint of the CAB and C2 b/c of the abundance of C2's out there.

POST 5Original post

You asked what would depreciate less. I think it may be the C4S because of less production (?), although I am not sure.

POST 6Original post

Next year's model will almost always be worth the most. Just joking...I could care less what my car is worth in value as long as it runs the way it's supposed to and I have a great time driving it. I bought mine to run it into the ground, not for an investment. I'll bury it someday and then get another.

POST 8Original post

for now the 05 c4s and turbos are the same as last year, so should have less depreciation, wouldn't you agree?

POST 9Original post

for now the 05 c4s and turbos are the same as last year, so should have less depreciation, wouldn't you agree? Personally, if I were concerned about depreciation, I'd hesitate to buy a new 996-based 911. This isn't a knock against the 996, but as the 997 becomes known as "the new body style" then the 996-based cars will depreciate more. Especially true once the 997 Turbo and C4S come along (which will happen soon).

POST 10Original post

We all know that letting someone else eat the new sticker down to used pricing is best. As far as used 996's holding their value. I would think GT3 and TT would be the surest bet. I think a Targa is an interesting buy though, they are "out" right now but might get popular again. If they do there are very few of them and might demand a premium. I think that Porsche sold too many 996's, and continues to make many more, for this to be a collectors item for the next few years.

POST 11Original post

I agree. Plus, although it's more expensive than finding a good used one, there's no feeling like getting a new car that has never been potentially abused or neglected by another driver. There's a different connection to the car.

POST 12 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

That's true. Just like a newly wed couple.

POST 13Original post

LOL! Well, I wouldn't suggest marrying a virgin. That's WAY too risky!

POST 15Original post

I don't want to go off topic, so let me just say that I wouldn't want to play the role of COACH for too long....
