This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Does anyone know where i can get the installation guide for the factory sports exhaust??? I looked online breifly to no avail It looks really good sitting next to my car but it needs to be wired in and connected to the vacum hoses somehow. P.S. yes i am to cheap to pay to have it installed.

POST 4Original post

Screw the electronics You will soon be a convert to the "always open" camp. Just install the mufflers and enjoy...

POST 5Original post

cheap? yes if you are trying to save money on installing electronics. no if you are just installing the cans. Loren has a great site over at renntech.org if you want to DIY. Trust me you don't want the electronics. My wife insisted on them and I refused (caluclated risk) and she is glad that I saved the $700 b/c PSE sounds great open all the time!

POST 6Original post

I had a local independent Porsche guy install my PSE last May on my 40th. I guess I was expecting more, but to me, it sounds relatively quiet compared to the Fabspeed muffler I ran on a '94 3.6 turbo, and the B&B setup I had on my 2000 Millennium. I didn't post earlier as I heard it takes awhile to break-in, but now I'm 3,000-3,500 miles into it. Don't get me wrong, it's an improvement and worth every penny of the $1,500 I paid to Brandywine, but to my ears, I can't understand why anyone would want the hassle/expense of installing the electronics. With the PSE, my 996 is comparable to my R32 on full throttle.

POST 7Original post

I am quite happy with my PSE. I did not have the electronics done and have no regrets. For me, it is loud enough. Much louder than my R32 exhaust. As pointed out, check out renntech.org. You should join, it is a great site. roy

ok got the instructions and joined Renntech. All is well. the sound is amazing so thanks for the help

POST 10Original post

It's cool to find another 996 owner with an R32? Aren't these fun daily drivers? When I made the comment about the PSE vs. the R32 exhaust decibel level, I should have noted that I have done the "flapper valve" mod to my exhaust (using the fish tank valve sold by Blue Racing). PSE costs $1,500, the fish tank valve cost $5.00; I guess VWs are just cheaper to mod than Porsches! What color R do you drive? Mine is T-red, and stock. Any serious mods yet on yours?

POST 11Original post

wknopf, its a GREAT daily driver. I have had it for about 3 months. Deep Pearl Blue. Only mod is european HID's (did not like the stock headlights). Also added Sirius radio. But the P-car is now finally set up the way I want. Added the euro M030 and porsche short shifter. You have a very nice collection as well! roy
