Yes, the cab and targa switches are the same, except, that I cannot tap into the outside posts because they are being used for the remotes themselves.

In other words, I cannot use any of the posts for the hack, I must have someone solder directly to the board.

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I am using the switch from the Targa sunscreen as my garage door opener in my '02 Targa. The switch works great (I have two separate remotes) and it even looks like a garage door opening, but it is not lit. It is my understanding that someone who is very good with electronics could hack this to make it light like the rest of the buttons on my dash. It really bugs me right now and is a little difficult to see at night. Does anyone know anyone who has done this before and who would be willing to help me out on this (of course I will pay for the work)? I have a spare switch I could mail to the person. Thanks in advance, TD

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Dell, Thanks for the quick response. Yes, the cab and targa switches are the same, except, that I cannot tap into the outside posts because they are being used for the remotes themselves. In other words, I cannot use any of the posts for the hack, I must have someone solder directly to the board. I am not talented, or patient, enough for this. As always, I really appreciate your help. Someday, we will meet, and the drinks will be on me. TD

POST 4Original post

A drink is DEFINATELY in order. I can wait to get the heck out of this desert! Be back in DC hopefully next summer when my wife's contract expires here (the whole reason we came here from DC). As for the hack for lighting, the person you really need to talk to is Sandy over at Renntech. He helped me out big time when I wired my OBC hack.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Sounds good. Maybe I will head out to LV before then. If you can't get a drink in LV, then something ain't right. I appreciate the advice. Do you think Sandy will respond to my post?

POST 6Original post

Right about the drink surplus here. Drinks with every meal. No wonder why there is such an addiction problem in this town (gambling, liquor, women). The men have no chance. You can run, but not fast enough! As for your swithc post.... I would modify your post title to end (Sandy, Loren, anybody?) If you don't get any hits, let me know and I will get you Sandy's email address.
