Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

everyone has said their piece, and talking on the internet is like discussing american politics: you're never going to change someone's mind, so to each their own and to all shut the hell up and lets do less whinin' and more drivin'.
Leading evidence: 'Replace someone's mind' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace someone's mind' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I bought a Sony DSC-T20, silver Porsche hood crest, "aluminum" gauge rings from eBay, and some "carbon fiber" mirror covers from eBay.
I'm not a photographer by any stretch of the imagination and I'm just learning/experimenting with this new camera, so it may need some tweaking. I may try to post some more once the battery charges.
Enjoy!
To be honest I don't remember exactly. Just do a search for them on eBay. I think they were around $150.

Rings came from eBay, just double sided sticky stuff used to install. If I am not mistaken they are some kind of high grade plastic or metal. Very nice fit and finish. I think you can get them from bumperplugs.com and Pelican Parts as well. Crest came from Pcars.com, just need a socket set to install. It took me like 5 minutes to install it, even came with a new rubber seal. Looks good with cleared headlights and side markers. Nice and clean front end, and plus I am not a big fan of the color gold or yellow for that matter.

bud, in all honesty, i'm glad u got a new camera and all, but the ebay mods aren't cutting it. save some $ and lower the car and get some phat wheels. then be done with it.. all this little stuff adds up to pretty much nothing. it's not much diff than what a scion guy does to his car, what an escalade guy does to his grill... etc.
go big or go home
I knew I would catch some flak for buying cosmetic or "pointless" parts from eBay, I am fine with that, it's my car, my choices. In fact I'm not sure why I am responding to your post. From one of my very first posts you have made it no secret what you think about my car, quite bluntly I might add. In the beginning I nearly didn't become a member because of you, I was afraid you represented the Porsche/Rennlist way of thinking, I didnt feel welcomed, but other Rennlisters assured me "thats just Ben". I couldnt imagine what affect you have had on other users. I digress. I have been around here for almost a year, and while you have made some valid posts on certain subjects, overall youre just a pretentious dick. All due respect.
Go home
Ben, I apologize for calling you a "name", that doesn't mean I don't stand by it. Its not my nature to flame and argue over something so petty. I came here to learn and share, not to put down or degrade people for their choices or words. I know this is just an internet forum and everybody is entitled to their own opinion. The above post was just that, my opinion.
Drew
drew,
nice mirrors, glad they fit properly, i had a bunch that did not and was so sad
do you remember which seller you got them from.
i like your dvd collection btw, and the monster SVS sub
is that the PB/12 Plus?
great choice with the PB12 plus/2, that thing must pound SUPAR hard. i was looking at it, but it was out of my budget at the time and i went with the axiom EP500. what's the rest of your system like?
I have a Phillips 50" something something plasma, Klipsch RF-52 Home Theater System minus the sub, Yamaha HTR-6090 AVR, Toshiba HD-A2, and a Dish network VIP211 HD receiver. Oh and the best upgrade so far is what I received recently, its a Auralex Great GRAMMA Subdude underneath the SVS sub.
"The SubDude Sound Isolation Riser is an incredibly effective device that's used to float a subwoofer and yields nearly total acoustic sound isolation, resulting in a purity of tone that has to be heard to be believed!"

I wonder what percentage of 996 owners feel lowering the car and putting fat rims and tires on it is pure rice? Definitely not for everyone. And every mod doesn't have to be performance related. Someone wants to spruce up the gauge cluster or protect their mirrors from chips certainly has the right to without being told to go home, I think.
Rims are a very subjective item, but I have no desire to go bigger than the 18" turbo twists on my C4--I think the "rubber band" look looks pretty silly, IMHO, and would be even worse on 19" rims (25-series rubber? Good luck with the potholes!). This probably goes along with my aversion to lowered cars--they all seem to end up looking like someone chopped the springs or something.
And I could make fun of the giant wings all day long. I guess I'm a "less is more" kind of guy when it comes to modifying my car.
Just because you asked...
Ahhhhhh...you're a man after my own heart. I agree with your philosophy in full. The only mod I've done is removal of the Carrera nameplate from the back end of the car
def not 4 everyone since it is a pricey endeavor.
but uhhh... fake cf mirrors less rice/kraut than pss9s and perfect fitment wheels?
lol u guys r reaching here a tad itty bitty
I don't think thats what he is saying, if you read his post. I think he was trying to say that no matter the mod its subjective, and even if someone puts a tri-level pink and orange wing on their car neither you nor anyone has the right to treat them the way you do around here. Youre just rude and somewhat of a joke around here. Doesnt that bother you? It doesnt bother me as much that youre rude, but to why people tolerate it.
Fellow Rennlisters, tell me if I am out of line and I will shut up.
^ out of line? no, but there's no need 2 go out of your way to reason with someone. Ben likes the blingtacular O.G. hiphop style, good for him.
Drew doesn't want his car to look like it just rolled out of some rap video being shot in so cal....excellent.
everyone has said their piece, and talking on the internet is like discussing american politics: you're never going to change someone's mind, so to each their own and to all shut the hell up and lets do less whinin' and more drivin'. Forum members offer suggestions and advice...how much you value it is upto each person and each situation.
all i'm doing is sharing my thoughts/opinion on the matter. i stuck up for you in the past (when some fool with no ***** went so far as to tell you you needed a haircut), but if i see something where i'm like that's not cool i'm gonna say it. then u get your panties in a bunch and start calling me names. c'mon dog. that's weak.
if we were to keep our thoughts to ourselves here, what's the point of this forum? it's to be heard and i enjoy being heard whether a person likes my comments or not.
and so far as i go talking about your mods, i rarely if ever take it to a name calling level unless that's where it's taken by the person responding to me.
i've never called you a name and i won't relegate myself to that like you so clearly did to me. but sure as hell i'm going to poke some fun at your choice in mods if it's straight up tasteless. fake **** cf mirror covers is a tasteless mod on an otherwise fine piece of machinery. you'd think u leave that stuff for the vws/hondas out there, but as you can see clear as day... a lot of that pointing needs to be pointed straight at 911 owners.
at ease
yea look at my car... ain't nobody in no rap video going to commission my car to be on no hip hop video.
all my **** is quality. period.
but i get your point and agree with most of it.
Thank you. I am happy to read your comments and will remember them before the next time I post. I just wish all the salt and crap were off the roads so I could go for a drive. I did take the Subaru out to a local trout hatchery and caught this little beauty today.
I find some of Ben Choi's comments to be annoying....and others' as well from time to time.
But when you come on the forum and ask us how we like your new 19" Kinesis wheels (as a hypothetical example), don't expect us to be like women who comment on someone's new hairstyle by saying "oh, that's cute!" even if it looks terrible.
If we don't like your wheels, you'll hopefully hear the truth. It shouldn't be a personal attack obviously - just an observation/opinion that your wheels (or other mods) either look good or they don't. In that regard, Ben's philosophy is appropriate....even if his technique seems to be, at times, unnecessarily insulting or rude. :-)
I figure that if you ask for opinions, you want opinions. Around here, that comes with certain risks.
I like your mirror covers, on your car, assuming the quality is good. Not my thing, but it suits the look you're going for nicely.
But this opinion is coming from a guy who likes his car to look sleeper-stock, so it's worth everything you're paying for it.
Jake, nah, VGM911 is spot on. If you ask for a forum's opinion, be ready for comments of all sorts. Hopefully everyone mods their car they way that THEY want to and we can all just have fun throwing around our very enthusiastic opinions. Hell, it makes for a lot of fun in these threads and I love hearing the different comments.
By the way, imdrew12, I think the aluminum gauge rings look pretty damn nice from the photos.
Say it's not for me and leave it alone if you do not like it. Go big or go home type stuff is just being immature.
I'm on the fence on the silver badge. I bought one thinking that was the way to go, but when I hold it up to the hood I'm not sure I like it. Had it for three weeks???
I bought it because I just don't like the color gold and it helps to clean things up if your front end lights and side markers have been cleared of the amber.
Yeah I agree with you, especially with the black and silver you have in the body and wheels it looks good. For some reason, I'm not sure I like it with my silver.
