Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

30 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

You know the ones. Larger oval diameter than stock. I have some GHL tips for CHEAP if anyone is interested and once I get these, my black powder coated ones will be available too. Please PM or email me. Thanks! C.

POST 2Original post

I got these ones, which are not Tequipment. Dansk does make Porsche exhaust stuff, though, and I was very pleasantly surprised at how superbly made and finished these were for quite a bit less money. These are about 1/3 larger than stock. Don't know if it's helpful, but thought I'd throw it out there. http://www.automotion.com/productpag...d=4&pid=109172

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks Bruce. What are the measurements? Could you shoot me the specs? A photo of them mounted on your car would be VERY helpful as well. TIA C.

Hey, Chad. About to catch a plane, so this is all I can do for you at this moment. Here's a crappy cell phone pic that will give you a vague idea. I can put a tape measure on them later this week and give you dimensions. To my eye, these don't make a statement; they just look more natural than the stock ones did.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks Bruce...have a safe trip. C.

POST 6Original post

Here you go, Chad. I took these just so you can get a sense of the size, and how they sit in relation to the cutouts in terms of space and protrusion. You're a nice guy, but I wasn't going to wash the car just for you. You fragile types might want to turn away and not look at these. This, kids, is what a big city, daily driven 911 looks like in February. Consider yourself warned. P.S. The finish is actually chrome. These are just filthy. But it's a good quality finish. No pitting or corrosion, despite the harsh environment. The insides come finished in black.

POST 7Original post

Chad, adding to Bruce's info, you'll notice that the Dansk tips aren't angle-cut, unlike the Tequipments. In other words, if you're standing behind the car and looking straight down at the rear bumper, the Danks tips don't align with the bumper contours like the Tequipments. I also had the Dansk tips on my prior 996, and I was very happy with the quality and finish, especially the thicker rolled lips. I eventually swapped them out for the Tequipments (solely for the flushed look), however. Interestingly, mine were finished in silver on the inside, unlike Bruce's. Hmmm...

POST 8Original post

Geez, I was sure Ben was going to yell at me about my winter wheels...

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks Bruce. nope - those are the very same that I have at the moment. I believe the Sport tips are 5-6" in dia. Thanks for your help. C.

POST 10Original post

those tips are huge. any bigger it'd look silly. hey bruce i got nothin' but love for ya and your.... ahem... wheels LOL

POST 11Original post

Chad...not sure that porsche sells much larger tips for the c2 996. i do recall, however, seeing some large oval tips from fabspeed that may interest you. just make sure that they fit perfectly around the recess in the bumper or else they will look out of place as Ben mentioned.

POST 12 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 5154465

They do...I had them on my last car. Looked great and filled the tip area quite nicely. My last car also have the sports exhaust (PSE). I think those tips came with that setup... C.

POST 13Original post

chad would like to see pics of those when you get them. i know that the oem sport exhaust come with different tips, but have not seen the "sport" tips that you refer too..

POST 14 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Here manny... This is off from Pelican's website. These are the tips that I would like.

POST 16Original post

chad..fabspeed sales those as well for about $450.00.

POST 17 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yes manny...thank you. I am looking for some used ones before I pull the trigger on some new ones. Thanks, C.

POST 19Original post

i sold mine 3 days ago! for a second there i thought nobody wanted them. good luck on your search!

POST 20Original post

chad...does this look like the ones your interested in? they are from my previous 01-cabrio. if they are let me know and when i get home i can take measurements to let you know the exact sixe. they are oem

POST 21 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

WHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA that was pretty siq

POST 23Original post

on the narrows, i like a more conservative tip and prefer a flat bottom kinda like the ones on the MK2 Carrera - not sure if anyone makes them, but my trained eye... i'd design one like so for the mk1. i think rob's tips are too round and big just like his ego. HEHE

POST 24Original post

Quotes source post: 5161539

I quite disagree. The square-bottom tips are more congruent with the MKII's flatter bumper fascia, but they wouldn't go as well with the MKI's as it's more rounded on the bumper bottom. I think the large ovals look more appropriate for the MKI (and this has nothing to do with Rob's ego).

POST 25Original post

Simply go with the Sports Ovals from Porsche, I have them and the are a perfect fitment for a MK1. Here is a representation I hope helps....

POST 26Original post

Chad, Why don't you like the black tips? Just curious.

POST 27Original post

Quotes source post: 5162066

Those are nice. I totally understand the point of view expressed by some that the tips should blend into the surface design of the car, if that's your thing. Me, I prefer tips that look like they're part of the engine, kinda peeking out from under the car. Less sleek, more mechanical.

More like my Dip Stick. It's all about the girth!!!!

POST 29Original post

chad...i think these are the one's you want. they measure 5.5" and 3.5" across and in height respectively. if you are interested i'll sell them to you for $175.00 plus shipping. this is half the cost of brand new tips. they are from my previous 01 cab. let me know....manny.
