Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I know that this has been posted a million times however I really cannot decide on whether or not to change my wheels to 18" or 19". I like the look of the 19" rims however I am concerned that they will look strange on my 996 which has a stock suspension, no body kits or upgrades. Most of the cars in the pictures that I can find have been lowered or have some sort of aero kit- these all look great however I cannot picture my car with these wheels. Does anybody have any pics of their 996 without any mods but with 19" rims? Any color however Guards Red would make it easier for my simple mind to picture the rims on my car. Thanks

If I was in your shoes I'd go with 18's.

POST 5Original post

Here: https://rennlist.com/forums/showpost...05&postcount=1 Stock C4S w/o no aero. Lowered w/ PSS9. 19" Work Brombachers. They're currently being refinished to brushed aluminum centers instead of the black since the black seems so "played-out." I'll post up pics when done.

POST 6Original post

Here you go 19" on an un-modified 996 And here's the space between tire and lip with the 19s fitted

POST 7Original post

Quotes source post: 5166996

I whole heartedly disagree

POST 8Original post

Go with 18's if stock. Go with either 18's or 19's with aero, or if lowered, or both. It's rare to see 19's on a stock 996 that work...cdodkin's is one of the rare ones. What happens is that 19's will make the car look much higher than it should, unless you put really low profile tyres on.

POST 10Original post

19's are the new 18's...which means that 18's are the new 17's...17" wheels don't look good on a Porsche Go with the 19's

POST 11Original post

Here was mine when I had some 19" on - unmodified. (Just put the stock wheels/tires back on to sell it however)

POST 13Original post

19s look horrible when not lowered. 18s look fine. lowering on stock wheels looks horrible due to the offsets. your car lowered with 19s will still look much better than stock suspension with stock factory wheels. if u can't afford to lower with 19s, save your money and pony up when you can do both at the same time. u won't regret it.

POST 14 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the great advice and pictures. I think that I am going to get 19's and lower the car. The pictures of the cars that were posted were very nice. Thanks

POST 15Original post

I went from 18" Twists in the summer, to 17" Twists w/ winter tires. I don't know about everyone else, but going from 17 to 18" means a much stiffer ride. I can't imagine the ride on 19" rims!? One pothole and it's over, no?

POST 18Original post

19's are the way to go when "dropped", otherwise as I mentioned stick to the 17 or 18.

POST 19Original post

Quotes source post: 5170921

my advice is a lil diff -if factory 18s, drop conservatively (i.e. don't drop it as much as you would on 19s) -don't ever do 17s (nasty ugly)

POST 20Original post

I have never understood why people refer to the whole wheel as a "rim". YOu should consider weight as much as size. I've had racing wheels on previous cars that were larger but in fact lighter than stock. Also, your choices of tires are smaller and more expensive when going up to 19". Get a lightweight 18" wheel and instead of blowing the budget on 19's upgrade the suspension.

POST 21Original post

19" Champions on my bone stock 996. Looks pretty good to me.
