Should that reset the system even if the door was not locked?
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Probably been addressed, but it's Sunday and I'm feeling too lazy to search. My car's on a battery maintainer for the winter. I don't lock the doors during storage. I went to start it up today with no problems. All electricals work fine. But, I didn't see the little red light near the front cowl flashing, and neither of my keys would open or lock the doors electrically. Doesn't sound like a key battery issue to me, but could it be just that? The fobs are from '04 - not sure how long the battery lasts in them. Any thoughts? Thanks!!
BTW, the C4S is such an incredibly beautiful car. I never get tired of its looks - just so classic. Coming out of storage in a couple of weeks (roads permitting) and as I said in previous posts, I VOW to drive it this season. With this incredible car and the TT roadster s-line which is on order and expected in 2-3 months, I should have two really fun cars to drive.
After five days, the system goes into preservation mode and won't allow the remotes to open the door. Just insert the key into the door to unlock and start the car and it resets the 5 day countdown system. Happens all the time when my car is parked at the airport for a week. Oh and Phil,
!
I call this the Auto-Guilt-Inducement function.
I feel guilty if I haven't driven my car for more than 5 days.
If I need to manually open the door, it's a clue I have been ignoring my sweetie.
< Tim bites his tongue, shakes his head, and thinks to himself. Why does Phil do this to himself? He is either the bravest guy on Rennlist or the most trusting guy here. OK, I'll be nice >
Phil, do what Phil (pongobaz) said. Unlock the car by inserting the key in the door and start it up. That will restore everything to normal again. Well, at least what's "normal" for you!
Should that reset the system even if the door was not locked? When I store it, I leave the door unlocked. BTW, I am either the bravest or dumbest guy on Rennlist!!
