Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I bought a second hand PCM2 to replace a faulty one in a C4 2003 UK spec, when I called de Main Dealer about getting it fitted they asked for the chassis number from the PCM2's donor car which is a salvage car with out VIN numbers removed from insurance company

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi Guys Hope some one can give me any ideas on this I bought a second hand PCM2 to replace a faulty one in a C4 2003 UK spec, when I called de Main Dealer about getting it fitted they asked for the chassis number from the PCM2's donor car which is a salvage car with out VIN numbers removed from insurance company Is it true they need that number or is just for security reasons and/or is there any other way around it to get the PCM2 working?? Cheers

POST 2Original post

If it is true PCM 2.0 you should not need the vin. This is a MOST unit - correct?

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi Steve I think you might be on to some thing !!?? What do you mean by "true PCM 2.0"?? (it is the fibre optic and the cd unit !!) When I powered up in my garage with a separate battery it didn't ask for a code number or any thing like that and worked fine, but then some one say to me that the unit will locked up it self after 48 hours if a code has not being uploaded in to it via the OPC computer ?? Cheers Ivan I have attached some pics of the actual unit:
