Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Has anybody w/an '02+ run 265/35s on the rear (like the earlier cars)?

Suggestion
A common mod in the M3 circles is to run oversized tires in the front to accomplish the same thing.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I have an '02 Carrera Coupe with 285/30 18 tires on the rear. I would like to put on Michelin PS2's but they only make a 295/30 18. This is the standard size for the turbo. Has anyone tried this on the normally aspirated 996?
I use the car every day and also use it for DE on the track.

There is no point in going bigger and/or for the PS2. You'd be happier with the 285/30 which is available in the PS Rib lineup. Practically the same tire with a different tread.

I'd also worry that increasing the stagger between the front and rear tires would only enhance the 996's understeer. I'd pick a different tire that is available in the appropriate size.
What size does everyone have on the fronts? I have 18 carrera 5 spokes...I would like a bigger front if possible?
Any advice would be appreciated.

Has anybody w/an '02+ run 265/35s on the rear (like the earlier cars)? I run this in the winter (wintersport m2s) and it gives the car a more neutral bias. Plus, they have slightly taller sidewall for a bit more cush.
I may go 265s for my next summer set...
Stiles there will be no detriment in running 265. I do think you'll loose a little grip because its slightly narrower, but at street speed it does not matter. If I were you I use 275/35 if you want more sidewall. Its closer in width to the 285 and the height is taller than the 265. As far as the original poster the 295 will fit and like I'm telling Stiles there is no detriment in handling at street speeds. Its up to you which way you want to go. I would do the 295 if your set on the PS2.
What I'm wondering is if a slight loss in rear traction might actually be a good thing, on the track as well, when it comes to balancing the handling further away from understeer. A common mod in the M3 circles is to run oversized tires in the front to accomplish the same thing. I think the '02+ cars have too much grip in the rear..., IMO.
