Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I may be showing my ignorance, but what are the actual changes made to upgrade the suspension and what are the most overt advantages- I have a 98 996.
Leading evidence: 'Replace made' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace made' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

So no use worrying about it cause there is nothing to do about it, but Porsche should face up to their responsablility and officially extend the warranty of the 996carreras RMS since its a design flaw of the boxster/carrera engine, but so far they are no pressured to do so.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Just got my 'new' 1999 c4 ( 19k,aero,leather,sport seats/wheels/and exhaust). It's a fabulous car, superior to my 993 in every way.... that should start a fight! My question is 'what type of suspension was standard on the 1999 c4'. Was it the 'sport' usa suspension? Regards.
No, the car comes with a standard suspension. The C4S comes with the Sport suspension.
But tht is good news, because now, you have an excuse to switch to ROW M030 sport suspension. You won't beleive the improvement in handling!
Couldn't agree more with C4C_Leon, among other things, it will remove the excessive standard-suspension understeer of the C4's. Just make sure it the RoWM030, not the US M030.
I may be showing my ignorance, but what are the actual changes made to upgrade the suspension and what are the most overt advantages- I have a 98 996.
Thanks.
munro86, best I can do is reffer you to this article by Panorama which explains its all b/w standard, RoW M030 and US M030:

Congrats JRW911, best performance upgrade for the money on a 996.
Yeh sure-its a reference to General Franco, a former leader of Spain- You seem to be the only authoritative source of Porsche information from Spain, so as a "leadership" comparison/association, I used a one of the most well-known historical Spanish figures. John Cleese once made a similar joke in Fawlty Towers-so if you've found it offensive, I apologise-this was not intended.
Munro86
No offense take munro86, I just wanted to know if you meant it as a joke since a refference to Franco sometimes can be intended as an insult here since he was a fascist military dictator in power for 4 decades in Spain and its still recent in the minds of older folks specially.
I don't mind at all, but keep it in mind if you call it to someone here in Spain you don't know well enough though, its like going into the Calle 8 in Miami and shouting "viva Castro!"
Carlos,
We have almost identical cars... unfortunately my sport seats aren't heated. My car has 19k miles on it. In your opinion, when, if ever, will I be clear of an RMS failure? Thanks for the article reference. Regards.
J. Wood
JRW911,
I don't have an answer to your question unfortunately, nobody knows except Porsche but they won't disclose any info or stats relevant to the RMS issue (wonder why).
As a refference, my car's RMS started to leak at 30k miles, so your are not clear yet
and in Spain, like in GB, you have only 2 years warranty and if out of warranty, the RMS leak is your problem, they will not take responsibility for their design flaw. However, in the US, some people had their RMS fixed out of warranty from good will by PCNA.
There is no way of prevenyting a posible RMS leak, if its going to happen, it will happen no matter what. You can have only a few k miles on a babied commuter 996 and get it, and you can have a freq tracked 996 and never see a drop of oil. So no use worrying about it cause there is nothing to do about it, but Porsche should face up to their responsablility and officially extend the warranty of the 996carreras RMS since its a design flaw of the boxster/carrera engine, but so far they are no pressured to do so. Its not a dangerous leak though, you can still drive around with an RMS leak until it gets fixed, and if its just the RMS alone and is no other related issues, its only a $800-1000 job if PCNA doesn't wnat to cover it out of warranty. Unfortunately, putting a new seal in doesn't mean it won't leak again in the future necesarily.
munro86,
No apology needed at all since your intentions were well intended. We are from all over the world here and this sort of stuff is only natural. No offense taken.
Franco was indeed a real nasty guy that killed many people but he also did good things though, being a fascist military dictator during Hitler's time, he at least kept Spain neutral to the ****'s and avoided WWII destroying Spain, he also saved Spain from pro-russian communisn which was growing popular before his coup. But his coup also led to a civil war that savaged Spain and cause many deaths, and during his 4 decade rule he murdered many inocent people for political reasons and deprived Spain from democracy until the 70's. So he is still kind of a taboo here. Anyway, enough off topic, I'll get back to cars now
