Sorry to hear that the RS Clone turned out to be a dud - that must have been frustrating.

I've been looking for the right XAA car for a while and this one checked all the boxes for me.

My OEM XAA wasn't a high spec car other than a few checked items (polar silver, litronics, and some other things) but it did come with the twists.

Suggestion
On the topic of aero - does anyone have a proper DYI write up on how to adjust the wing angle to the mid point and highest setting as seen in the last photo?
original side radiator ducts are most likely reused too

The bumper install looks to have used the original centre radiator blanking plate, so I suspect the original side radiator ducts are most likely reused too.

MBA sailor, love the color and the body colored wheels. Clear sides are possibly the only improvement you can make on your car....it looks amazing.
Porsche-t, white and black looks awesome.
Hey Gator, I like your side skirts. A bit more subtle than the factory aero ones. Where did you get them? Was thinking they'd look good on mine (also a '99):
In zenith blue of course...
Hey Wayne, Happy New Year to you and your family. Your car still looks fantastic. It is hard to improve on your factory wheels, with the factory aero kit. I do not blame you for keeping your Porsche forever. Why upgrade? You might get a few more HP, but it certainly will not look any prettier. I drove mine today, after it had been parked for a month....it still puts a smile on my face. I doubt that I will ever part with it.
Randal, your Zenith car is very pretty...that is a striking color.
Happy new year to you too!
The car is still running well. I detailed it over the holidays and it's amazing how good the paint looks for a 15 year old car. Even though I have to say that my M3 outperforms my 996 there's something about the 996 that just manages to keep me interested.
It's good to see you still hanging out here. It's nice to see a few familiar faces still around. I took a break from this place, as I got tired of the negativity and irrationality of some of the discussions. You can only take so much doom and gloom.
It's nice to see that your car is still running well. Do you have a new salvage project going? I think the last time I stopped in here was just around when the Maserati was sold.
Wayne, I understand your frustration with the doom and gloom posts. Both of the 996s that I have owned were extremely dependable. Your car looks better than the day you bought it...the factory aero kit you added really makes your car.
I promised my wife that I would not buy any more project cars until we have a dedicated shop. We are relocating our family to Idaho. We are done with CA.
I bought my dream air cooled 911 a few months ago....a 1980 RS clone. It broke down twice trying to get it home. I returned it to the seller. That experience cured my car addiction for a while.
Wow! Lots going on for you - that's pretty cool and I wish you well with all the changes.
Thanks for the kind comments on the car... year, she's pretty, I guess that's why I have a hard time thinking of giving her up... she's prettier than the M3, still looks awesome for her age, and as you said, incredibly reliable. I've never owned such a reliable and low maintenance car. That's what has annoyed me in the past when people bad mouth the 996, it really is a great car and at the height of the hysteria (fueled by some on RL), a relatively small percentage of failures was hyped up into the end of the world. It's easier just to tune out the BS on IMS, oil, etc and just focus on driving the car - way more fun!
I don't blame you for getting out of Commiefornia. My mother-in-law lives there and I shake my head at the stuff happening there. Pretty sad considering how nice it used to be. My wife grew up there and our first home was there, but there's no way I could live there now... hell, my entire firearms collection is illegal there - that's enough reason not to be there. Idaho is such a pretty state, I'm sure you'll find somewhere nice out there. I'm jealous.
I'm sorry to hear that you don't have another project going, but can totally understand - you put so much time and effort into each project, I really don't know how you do it. Regardless, I'm sure something will catch your eye after your move. You've not attempted a Ferrari yet, so I could see one of those in your future.
Sorry to hear that the RS Clone turned out to be a dud - that must have been frustrating. Do you have photos posted somewhere of the car?
Wayne, here is the RS clone. It is too bad that it was not in the condition the seller described. It looked great, but leaked oil like a sieve, had no oil pressure (possibly due to being about two and a half quarts low on oil), and had a serious misfire.
Thanks for the kind wishes. We are excited about moving to Idaho. I have always wanted to live on a river. Real estate prices are about half of what they are here. The laws in CA regarding firearms are crazy. I can't wait to throw away the bullet button on my AR and get a real magazine. My oldest son is working at a gun store, while going to college. We are a family of NRA members. The smog laws also drive me nuts. I will be parking my 911 until we move. I did not pass the visual inspection due to my headers, high flow cats, and CAI...it has never been a problem previously at the same smog shop.
When I was in college, I worked for a Republican governor (Deukmejian) and volunteered on Reagan's campaign. I am looking forward to living among like minded people.
Oh Mark - heart braking in so many ways - that RS clone looked awesome. I can see why you bought it. Pity about the mechanical problems. That really sucks. Sorry to hear that the 996 didn't pass inspection. To be honest, I did always wonder how you managed to have all those mods and get through the visual inspection. Sorry to hear that you shop changed it's tune.
Well, it will be something to look forward to when you can open her up on the nice empty roads of Idaho.
It's a pity we don't live closer, as I think we have a similar philosophy in life. I'm envious on the Idaho move. I've actually been land shopping here in NC as I would love to get a nice big plot, put a cabin and a firing range on it and hang out on weekends... combine that with fishing for my kids and you have heaven. I can imagine that it will be such a relief when you get the move done. When will the move be done? I really don't understand how CA has made such a huge shift in politics in the last 20 years. It has been very odd to watch... the sad thing is that the people I still know in CA bitch about it, but still keep electing the same politicians that keep sticking it to them.
As for the firearms thing, I keep hoping that the courts will catch up and free CA firearms owners. I feel bad for you guys. Sounds like your son will keep you stocked with a good collection of new toys when you move. I've just added a new Sig Sauer 516 into my collection (actually 2, as I liked the first one so much), so give it a try when you get the chance, I think you might like it. I was out on the range today breaking it in with a new Nikon scope... so much fun!
Wayne, I was really disappointed by my air cooled experience. It had been my dream for years. To be honest, my 996 is a better car for me...faster, and way more comfortable. It taught me to be happy with what I have.
The money will be better spent on our retirement home. My dad is 87 and my wife's parents are in their 70s. We are looking forward to having them live with us. Two out of three of our kids will be moving also, the third will only be about 7 hours away. We are looking forward to lots of fishing, shooting, hiking, etc. My favorite house has 70 acres on the Snake river with two houses and three gigantic shops (the largest is 12000 square feet). We could have an indoor range or kart track.
I also wish we lived closer. You and your family will always be welcome guests at our family compound. You sound like a kindred spirit. We are hoping to be moved by summer. Your cabin plan sounds like a great idea. The quality time that you would spend there with your kids is priceless.
The laws in CA are only getting worse. We recently passed an initiative that reduced numerous felonies to misdemeanors. The law is retroactive and will put thousands of convicted felons back out on the street....yet gun ownership by law abiding people is becoming more restrictive. Time to move.
The Sig 516 sounds like a great gun. My son raves about it. I bought the Colt AR, because it is what I carried in the trunk of my K9 unit for years. We bought our oldest daughter her first pistol (Sig Mosquito) and our youngest son his first pistol (Glock 19) for Christmas. Your range day sounds like fun. I will be taking the whole family to the range in the next couple weeks, so they can practise with the new guns. I share your dream of having a home firing range.
OP, sorry to kidnap your post.
I'm envious of that! I'd hate to have to buy the ammo for it though - that's a pricey piece of kit.
Mark, I'll take our conversation to PM in order not to hijack the thread any more.
The side skirts are from Tech Art. They were actually factory installed based on the special order from the original owner. I have never seen another one with those skirts.
Porsche-t, very cool toy. You were smart to escape to Texas.
Here are a couple aero pics to try and make up for my thread jacking. The first pic is a real MK1 GT3 that made it to the US.
Thought I'd share mine...
New Porsche owner and new member here!
Pick this up a couple weeks ago and wanted to post as well as introducing myself.
Already picked up some 18" CCWs, a roll bar, Recaro Drivers seat, new aero additions, temporary lowering suspension, and a few extra little goodies. Just wanted to add to this awesome thread!
Maybe, but they aren't pointing at the valve stems like they should be
Paul, you have by far one of the best looking 996s in my opinion. That blue really suits the Aerokit well.
My red threat. On the lift getting ready to go up for the PPI oil check before purchase. I met a nice chap at the West Houston airport with a turbo I believe, and we talked a bit. I told him what I paid for my car, and he was aghast.
True that, and I love you too.
Those pics make me feel all warm and fuzzy.
(Oh, and did you say "chap"? Can't you get punched in Texas for that?)
(Oh x 2, and red bumper plugs bumperettes would look good on your car. And possibly LED taillights)
You take issue with 'chap' but let 'aghast' slide by?
I can talk 'Texan' if I want but avoid it online.
I would paint the bumperettes maybe when I redo the front bumper. Sometime this fall.
Am a bit new here. Just been lurking for a while. 2000 C4 loaded heavy piggy. Been in the family its whole life. This is from the first day it came home with us.
Sorry for the dirty garage, New house so we are slowly working on it.

well I am having fun driving it now that spring has finally arrived up here. Previous owner did the brake and suspension work. There are no adaptors that I can see so I suspect he used GT3 hubs/carriers, assuming they bolt on.
I LOVE that ArenaRed.....plus I like how the back bumper stops are painted. I would de-pumkin that car! But oh so beautiful.
Batteaux....man, your car looks awesome!
We still aren't really sure. I love the wheels, but we had (flaking) chrome twists on it for 15 years so these still just don't look right. We also aren't really fans of dark wheels on black cars. As indecisive as she is about what wheels she
does
like, however, they'll probably be on for another 15 years
Not with that body, too scared of messing it up but my son made me put it on for him.
Nope. Real deal. HPI Racing has a bunch of Porsche body shells, but it looks like the 996 GT3 may be EOL now
They still have a couple 996 TT options as well as a bunch of 997 variants, a CGT, and a 955 Cayenne (I have that one too but the paint got messed up so I never finished it).

Sonuvagun! My suv/winter/rv mobile is an Element. It being so versatile and solid is the only reason I am in a position to enjoy a C2. The F355 is my favorite Ferrari for several reasons, that is a latent, lifelong goal to enjoy a blue on tan targa 355 6spd.
Alas, my 996 is not an aero
This would be a fun project though - aero kit, wheels, calipers in Silver to not copy tooo much. Too much of a clone if you don't go yellow brakes and have a silver carrera logo on the back??
My 2004 Cab has the side skirts and rear wing but the options list I found for '04 indicates you couldn't get the full "aero kit". Not sure why no aero front spoiler on a cab?
You can't beat the element, I bought it a little over a year ago for $4250 with 152k miles, and have put over 20k on it so far. Its great for the dogs and moving, and amazingly good in the snow! I like the new Pilot's and HRV but I can't justify the extra $25k for one!
The 355 is a fun car, I did the engine out and interior "resto" myself with hand tools, its not rocket science.
You can find some aero parts in the classifieds occasionally at a good deal but I don't want to find out how much it will cost me if I ever need a bumper or rear wing!
^^ What he said. Unplug the harness, swap the fan over, remove 4 bolts, lift entire engine lid off. Then set the aero piece on, bolt it down and plug in the harness.

Probably following me until you blew past.
Yes, Autumn Thunder and the June DE at Mid-Ohio at great events. OVR-PCA is a great region and puts on fun, well-run events.
My 996 is one of my favorite cars that I own. Absolutely love the look when it is lowered. In this picture it has MkII GT3 wheels which I also love.
Here is a picture of my 996 Aero with MkII bumper. Adding the MkII rear transformed the look of the car....flows so well with the rockers. The car was also just repainted a year ago to clean up the track patina. Right next to sits my 993 Aero. While it is factory aero, the car was not shipped from factory that way. I plan to put it back to stock next year and keep the kit if I get bored and put it back again.
Another great view with Cargraphic wheels. De-ambering the lights made a huge difference in the look. Have been playing with tinting the headlights yellow.
So I've been looking through this thread and searching for Aero kits, but I'm somewhat confused as to what Aero kit options there is for the 996.2.
Is there a vendor on here who sells them? Is there only one option or a few? I read something about GT2 or GT3 kits. Thanks guys!
Nice...first time I have seen them on another car. Looks great on your car. I use them for winter and use MkII GT3 wheels for the track during the summer. Much easier to clean!

so many aero kits - love it!
I haven't seen another car with the C4S specific factory-aero like mine.... how rare is it?
I know it was way to damn expensive an option when new - so a lotta folks didn't check that box.
I just bought the OP's old car, and then found it here on Rennlist. It sits at 162k now, will be getting it delivered next week. First 911, but I'm educated in the pitfalls of 996 ownership. Excited to put a few thousand more miles, and some track days on it.
Weird coincidence, Gator, who posted a picture of his aerokit right below the OP, sold his car to my friend Kris Murphy. They will be reunited IRL next week.
Interior will likely be for sale shortly if anyone is interested in full leather Boxster Red with Carbon trim.

I'll be honest....I just can't get enough of your Aeros….though I favor my yellow mk1 ....I do think everyone of these is really quite spectacular....low browsing
This use to be my car... how ironic to have come across it online after all these years. 99 996 with aerokit pack. I changed the side markers to clear from orange and changed the exhaust tips myself. The rest including the carbon fiber pack was straight out of the manufacturing line in Germany. I had tons of fun with this car and it still looks nice... enjoy it...
The rear wing and side skirts look like 996.2 GT3/aerokit or aftermarket copies. Getty makes decent copies of that wing and maybe the skirts..
Your guess is as good as mine on the front - maybe an add on lower aerokit-like section like some of the aftermarket offer?
It also looks like they flipped the center radiator GT3RS/GT2/cup style (note the upper vents in the bumper).
Thanks for making me feel not so crazy! Yes, I admit, I do the same! Also can't help turning around after I park it at work and looking back, what a site!
Is there a group for us, like "Porsche Lover's Anonymous"?
If Paul is going to play... then so am I!
Just got here out last week, replaced the plugs, plug tubes and coils... not a fun job but she idles really nice now!
as good a thread as any to return to RL. Just picked this up last week locally. 2000 C2

Here's my 00 C2 with factory aero and factory Sport Classics
Looking through this thread got me wondering, when did Porsche remove the amber turn signals from the headlights? Were the clear turn signals a factory option or just a mid cycle change?
Also, the badges everywhere on my car are red/black/silver, no gold/yellow. Was that an option also or did a PO go nuts swapping out every badge on the car?

of course i am partial... But i have always loved the 996 aero....but the more pictures i see of all of the arrow out there the more i am in love....nice samples posted today....i haven't been a fan of 19s in the past...but decent posts have convinced me otherwise...really like those lobsters on the car....
Thank you. Ive always liked the look of them. I wasnt sure how Id like them on the car, but it drives so much better now. They are lighter than stock, so that might play a part in that. This was from a drive yesterday. My buddy picked up another 911 and put lobsters on it yesterday with 305 rears.

I am new to Rennlist. First post. I have owned this car for a year now and just love driving it. 6 speed, Arctic Silver. 18GT3 wheels, lowered with KW coil overs, I think it has a beautiful stance. Fister exhaust sounds fantastic. Previous owner did absolutely everything this car is mint both cosmetically and mechanically. I had no idea what an aero kit even was... but I just had to have this car. Glad I bought it. Makes me smile every time I drive it. Nice to know that I have something a little bit special.
Vancouver British Columbia. Sea to Sky highway 99. The drive up to Whistler is quite something, mid week you have it all to yourself. Right in my back yard!
Hello other local aerokit - love the GT3 wheels. Nice porteau pics too. I try to get up there for a picnic dinner a few times a month in the summer. Hope to see you up there.
Theyre holding up great.
The color is slightly off, and Im thinking about having them repainted by the shop that painted the Taco spoiler and side skirts.
They did a great job of matching my Seal Grey variance.
Its not real noticeable except in direct sunlight.
Most people say they dont notice it until I point it out.
But it bothers me.
It is a splitter that I believe is mkII Gt3. I have an unpainted one still in the box for backup and I would post part number but I am on a plane. It is posted already on another thread in this forum so maybe a search will get it sooner.
I also have a cool picture of both of my Aeros that I posted on another thread
Thank you. It helps to have a GF that is a photographer, among other artsy jobs, haha. I know the wheels arent for everyone, and the GT3 wheels you have were my first choice, but I like them. Lighter than stock and the ride is completely fine, even though they are 19s. My buddy has like 6 or so various generations of GT3s. Mine feels about the same as any of them, so not harsh at all.
Thanks a lot
Only a few weeks left of the season here in Norway, so it`s soon back to the garage to do some more work on it during the winter (rear spoiler (gt3rs), kill switch and some more race prep)
Ive had it for a few months now. Working on minor things - wheels powder coated gloss gunmetal, new tires (old ones were 2006 DOT), reconstructed a few carbon dash pieces, working an intermittent parasitic current draw that is gone when the radio is requesting a code.
Thanks! They're BBS RE wheels. I'm located in Edmonton and a part of the PCA Polar Region. It's a C2 that I picked up almost 4 years ago and have been modifying since.
What are the rear side skirts that mount on the rear bumper behind each wheel called?
What was the factory option for hese? Meaning, which car did they originally come on and what was the aftermarket code to order them?
Does anyone know of an aftermarket manufacturer?
Thanks
They are called spats and they attach via screws. It was a factory option coded as XAD. I assume the option was only available if you also ordered the XAA aerokit because I've never seen a factory non-aerokit car that still had the spats.
Great pics in here!
For those of you that have aftermarket Mk 2 wings and bumpers, what company do you recommend most? I'm in the dark here as to who I should go with?
I know it's not permanent but that front plate on the RS hurts me in ways it shouldn't since it's not mine.
But good lord the Mexico blue accented 996 GT3 RS is everything that is right about this world. *sigh*
This looks fantastic....always loved the 997 gray black GT3RS look...glad you tried this bold combo and looks real nice.
i am partial to yellow aero's. They all look so good.
everytime I see your car with those lobsters on it I just can't believe how good they look. I was never a fan of them on a 997 but seeing them on an aero I just can't believe others have not done the same. If it weren't for my love of 6GT3 wheels I would do the same...may still try anyway.
Thank you! I really like them and they make the car look way more modern than with the stock wheels, imo. I LOVE the .2 GT3 wheels, but these were a lot less. I paid about 350-400 bucks for the wheels, and then had them refinished. So about a grand all in. Im running 10mm spacers in the front. Nothing in the rear. Only way I will swap them out is if I find a steal on either .2 GT3s or some BBS LMs or E88s. Id go back to 18s at that point. 👍🏻
Is it harsher than 18s? For sure. But, I dont really think its bad at all. I did a few things at the same time I swapped the wheels, so its not a great apples to apples comparison. I installed B6s and H&R springs at the same time. Ive also done a couple other suspension things, like bushings. Having said that, and after driving on New England roads for a year, it is stiff, but not bad at all. The changes give the car a much more aggressive, planted, and sporty ride. But hitting a bad highway overpass expansion joint at speed isnt very enjoyable at all. Im sure 18s would improve that, but its not bad.

great looking car, reminds me of my old one. might be a decent purchase for someone hoping the market will go up on low mileage aerokits in the future
Reviving this to post the car I recently acquired (not XAA, but genuine aero kit), and because the recent auctions for 1999 XAA cars have been a blast to watch.
My headlights looked a little used over the time so I refreshed them in a store here in Germany. Polished inside and outside and painted the inlays matt black except the reflectors to be TV (Road legal approved in Germany). I think I will post some more detail pictures soon if you want too.
Paint color it Violet Chromaflair, it is unique to the Millennium Edition. Since you are also in Utah, I took the wheels to Armor Coatings in SLC and had them powder coated Melted Bronze.
Been in West Virginia on business for 7 weeks now for business, thought it would be 1.5 weeks. Have driven 3500 miles so far, the roads are over the top. Stopped for some bar-b-que today after a walk in Pipestem state park.

In a sea of greys, silvers, and blacks...., aero sporting a bold color really sets it off. Speed Yellow is definitely in the top two, and I'm sure we can all agree that Guards Red really should have been called Speedier Red.
Hopefully you get the tach situation sorted before Leguna!
Well I do agree with you with a minor modification... I am in love with just about every color Aero especially the MK1s. The reason is I think complete package looks so well integrated with the soft but sporty lines....and as someone who has owned 997(C4S) and 991s (GT3 and Turbo S) in the recent past...(all great looking cars), they don't strike my fancy like the 996 Mk1 Aero....arguably best looking 911 GTish car.
BTW....your car is stunning in Red.
Absolutely and don't disagree with you in the least. The MK1 is truly something special in regards to 911 heritage. 2.5 years of GT1 inspired headlights that will never be seen again coupled with XAA package, it doesn't get any better!
Appreciate the compliment, the same is shared with yours. GR was second choice to SY in my search, so I'm envious.
BUT RED IS STILL FASTER......
Finally finished putting my aero kit together. OE front/side and Ruf rump. A cop said he should ticket me right now, cuz it looks like it’s already going 20 over. If anyone is interested, I have a brand new, straight-from-factory, full aero kit II primed deck and spoiler with brake light, hardware (no spacers), yada yada I’ll sell for $2,500 shipped. PM me with questions.

Just want to make it known that if anyone has any aerokit pieces/parts, fr. bumper, side skirts, rear spoiler that will fit a 996.2 (2003 C2 coupe) for sale, PM me.
Here's my 1999. I just complete my latest mod on her today by installing the Xenon headlights.
I've owned this car for 15 years and it's the most reliable car I've ever owned.
Sadly, I'm getting the itch for a newer model, so I will probably end up selling in the next few months. Gotta figure out what a C2 with Aerokit is worth nowadays. I'm figuring in the ballpark of $25k
White isn't that common and I'd think it'd add to the value. Aerokit adds a decent chunk too. I don't know how many miles or what condition yours is in but I'd think unless you're well north of 100k that 25k is pretty low.
Thanks Ryan. I posted it on PCA and Facebook yesterday and the response has been phenomenal. Clearly you are correct in your comment bout price. I've got people ready to put money into my hand now, so I came in on the low side. Oh well. If it helps me sell with minimum hassle, then that's okay.
If BAT will accept the car. It's not an automatic. BAT has an overextended que, so they are picky.
And then there is the reserve number. My experience with BAT has them low balling the Reserve number to ensure a sale so they make money. So you can take a risk of not getting the price you want for the car.
Valid points I hadn't considered, and totally agree. It's a crap shoot, but seems to reach a larger audience than other platforms and even a low reserve seems easily outpaced these days. Granted that's across the board for sports cars in general.
Did you list it around $25k? I've seen prices for aero's range mid 20's to mid/high 30's depending on specs and mileage.
I listed at $25k and had 5 people wanting to throw money at me. Hard to get a sense of where I should have priced it and clearly I could have gone higher, but I got a quick sale. My car is in exceptional condition with desirable upgrades, so i could probably have easily gone to $28k, but I dont feel robbed, as i think I got a fair price and my car will go to a good home.
Not really my engine lid and spoiler is a lot less weight then the factory lid. Easily less then the skirts would add. The front bumper cant really be any heavier.
The advantage is at 130 mph the car sticks to the road much better. It adds low pressure zones not drag so it shouldnt make it slower.
Your opinion on the the looks, well u know what they stay about opinions
.
You probably could have listed for low 30's IMO. But, end of the day as long as you feel it was fair, that's really what matters. Your buyer got a great deal, you're happy, best of both worlds. If only everything in the world were that easy?
thanks. I have a 991 that arrived in town earlier this week. Im out on travel, so ive not seen it yet. Im going to see it tomorrow. If it checks out Ill have another white on black 911 in the driveway. Keep your fingers crossed for me.
Wow! Your new 911 is gorgeous. I love the white with black accents. I see the M3 turned into another P-car...good for you. We have a similar German car theme going on at our house also. I would love to hear how the new 911 compares to the old. I hope you enjoy it and have many years of happy motoring ahead of you.
Thanks! Yes, I traded the M3 for the Macan last year. I love the three white Porsche photo. You don't get to take a photo like that very often. It's even more amusing that they have three consecutive plates.
I got tired of the M3 being temperamental and thought that by moving to the Macan I would gain something that was practical, fun and less of a prima donna. I do miss driving the M3 like crazy. it was a really fun car to drive, but not a fun car to own. Unfortunately, the Macan has proven to be he highest maintenance car I've owned and I've developed a really close relationship with my service advisor. Guys at work joke about what color Macan loaner I'll be driving on any given day. It's a pain in the ***. I'll definitely need an extended warranty for it.
As for the comparison of new to old 911 - they're different. My daughter prefers the 996 and to be honest I can't disagree with her. The 996 is more raw and spirited. The new one is refined, quieter, and less of a direct connection of the driver to the road. Both are seriously fun to drive, but the 996 is just more connected to the driver, even if it is slower.
The 996 will be gone in the next week or so and I'll really miss it, but I've babied it well and it's time for me to send it on to a new home that will appreciate it. It's going to a first time Porsche owner, but he's a lifetime car enthusiast. I know he'll treat it well.
Now I have to figure out mods for the new 911.
Well, this is the photo of my baby leaving me to become someone else's baby.
I hope that the new owner shows up here so I can see her again occasionally.
Very nice car, but those are SportDesign wheels. Sport Classic is what my new addition has got.
0UWOGhe.jpg
Speaking of which, I just got my dream car last week! More pictures to come soon.
God, it's so pretty.
I've loved the look of the 1999 911 GT3 for like 20 years, so I'm a
little
bit obsessed with the SportDesign wheels.
The Sport Classic ones are very nice (especially in person), but I was actually hoping to find one that had the SportDesign ones instead. This car was too good to pass up just because of that, though.

Yep. Is it that obvious?
No, I got this one on Bring a Trailer all the way from Kansas City, Missouri. If there was a Guards Red 996.1 with the aerokit being sold locally, I must have completely missed it, despite the fact that I was looking on basically every site I could think of to try and find a car like this.
I had a chance yesterday to take out the car with my old DSLR. I think the pics turned out pretty good!

Great photos, and a great car. That's an XAA factory aero kit, right? What's the build date?
... found the BaT listing, 6/98. You should track down a set of the hollow turbo twists (option 408) to get that back to fully stock!
Thanks! Love automotive photography and it's been too long since I had a good subject for it.
Yep, you've got it. Its 23rd birthday is next month!
I actually really wanted the Sport Design wheels to complete
the 996.1 GT3 look
:
But I have to admit that the Sport Classic wheels are kind of growing on me. I may keep them.
Cross-post from main page.
https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...8-aerokit.html
I'm trying to find the first, second and/or third owners of an aero kit I recently bought to trace some of the maintenance history. It's a 98 build car that was sold new near Freemont, NY, and stayed in the area until 2010 when it moved to Cliffside, NJ. The easiest identifier that it was a silver aero kit with 17" wheels and might've looked something like this
yep, everyone one in NY. but most dealers purge their records after a while.
It probably was sold at South Shore based on the first registration location. but it didnt come up in their system.
PCA may have records if it was owned and noted by a previous owner. I tried that route as well, but the VIN didn't match anything in their database. I corresponded with Richard Alford at PCA last summer over email. No hits on my car at the time.
Picked up this bad Larry y'day, been shopping for a while and found a mechanic owned 2001 non XAA non leather car but has the factory kit
love it already, needs some work with tires but champion 19in wheels look awesome IMO

Personally, I think it'd look really unbalanced without the side skirts, so I'm glad I have them. But I'm definitely glad I don't have the XAD rear bumper side fins.
(Which weren't part of your XAA Aerokit.)

Hi, could you post pictures of the brackets on your wing? I'm repairing mine but can't find any pics of the hardware, nor and videos on how the wing works-does yours go up and down?
The carbon fiber wing insert is made by Cargraphic, but I think they discontinued that item. It doesn't move up or down. Here is a close-up pic for your reference.
Here's my recently completed attempt at a Mk1 GT3 touring guise using some non factory components. Ruf side skirts and a GT3 Tek front lip. Haven't seen that combo elsewhere, but I think they pair well together. Please excuse the paint condition for now. In desperate need of a wash and polish, and a full repaint might be happening in the not so distant future.
Looks good. I'm a fan of those wheels and wish I still had mine. Doh!
What kind of finish do your alien pass throughs have? I may paint mine, the silver is nice. Is it gloss or textured?
Thanks. Pass thru rosettes are gloss. Came that way when I picked up the seats, and I've seen others the same color, but I haven't been able to find that option listed in any of the PETs.
Good info - I've seen this wing before (painted though) and wondered who made it.
https://www.cargraphicts.com/en/bran...ic-body-parts/
It's still listed here, but not much info. Would be worth checking out if there are any more to be had. It looks awesome!
So, I've got a Mark 1 car and I've got a Mark 2 Aero wing on the back. I was considering doing the Mk 2 front end conversion (I have a Mk 2 Aero front bumper and everything else), but I'm also considering buying a Mk 1 aero front bumper as well.
However, when I've REALLY been trying to play "spot the differences" between the Mk 1 regular and aero, the one major difference I see Is that the Aero front bumper is all one piece and painted (and then you get the vertical painted portions, seen circled.) However, on the Carrera front bumper, the bottom is basically one very long ellipse, and in behind, you have black, unpainted plastic covering where the third radiator can be (and I think this is a separate piece from the rest of the main bumper, correct me if I'm wrong).
So, my question is, considering finding the Mk 1 Aero bumper is quite expensive and rare, is that the only major difference, or did I fail in spot the differences?
Pics below so I'm not rambling to no one.
I guess the only thing I'm seeing is that the painted portion (the vertical slat seen from front view) is much more obvious, but otherwise, I can't tell - obviously, if I'm missing something, fill me in
I have both of the bumpers at my house. The mk1 is different, from the front they r almost identical. U can cut out the center rad block off if u add a rad. Also the fender and light interface is different.
The mk2 bumper has a support structure that snaps into the back of the bumper.
The sides are different and the cup splitter for the mk2 does not fit perfect but can be used. I had to drill new holes and fex it a little but it looks good. The splitter is now N/A for porsche but Demon Speed will have a repro soon.
Yeah, SleepyCyclist, your car looks great!

I love the combination of SportDesign wheels and a 996.1 aerokit. It really gets that original GT3 look.
Someday, I would love to swap my SportClassic wheels for some SportDesign ones instead.
The Sport Designs are a great wheel. Robert, really digging your guards red aero car- I had the opportunity to snag a 99 factory aero, in guards red about 4.5 yrs ago. Should’ve moved on it that one. Either way, I just sourced all the oem aero parts the hard way and converted my 01 black car. 996.1 aero cars have really aged amazingly.
Decided to remove the side vinyl to enhance the lines with the aero rocker. I think, other than considering some SM-10 wheels, and the option to swap the Ruf spoiler with the OE unit, the look and stance are good to go for me.
Sleepycyclist, would also like to hear how you ended up sourcing your kit. FTWRLD- Heres some info how I sourced mine.
The front oem aero bumper came from a gentleman that was on 6speedonline- bumper was flawless.
Sourced the oem deck lid on eBay for reasonably less than they are starting to go for-still nowhere near prices a decade ago on these parts. The passengers side aero side skirt from a dismantler (inspect condition thoroughly with all these parts) I passed on more than a few front bumpers, side skirts and one beat up deck lid-due to their poor condition. The only part I had to source new through Porsche was the drivers side, side skirt. They do come prepped primed ready for paint and with hardware. Huge issue trying to find the drivers side skirt mk1 style used for me.
Had everything painted, then I installed. It was a breeze using oem parts. My best advice is to look on rennlist, places like LA dismantler, Porsche parts global (aka global restore), 6speedonline, and check eBay. It will take some patience, and there will be a few misc. parts for the side skirts you’ll need for install. I have a small parts list saved via email (There are small clips/screw locking syle supports for the underside of skirts, then you’ll want to source a heavy duty 3m tape.) If you end up sourcing skirts and other items, send me a pm and I can send the misc parts list over so you can prepare.
Option 2 of course is sourcing everything brand new through most Porsche dealers for extremely elevated cost$$
Option 3- is aftermarket I personally didn’t feel comfortable running a frp front bumper side skirts etc.) oem fitment/look is the way to go in my opinion.
My once upon a time 1999 996 Factory Aero kit car. It was a Porsche Exclusive car with many special ordered options including LSD, black metallic paint, sport seats, litronics and many other options. I miss this car, I hope it is still in the shape it deserves.
I just got this done, finally..... Didn't use the 3m sticky tape it came with, my body shop didn't trust it so it is glued forever
They did great work. The body kit is from Better Bodies Motorsports in San Diego, the shop that did paint and install and PPF front hood and bumper is Vital Energy Motorsports in Burien, WA. My car was the most inexpensive car they were working on, lol. All high end Ferrari, Lambos, Mercedees, etc.... Owner is Lynx and is amazing to work with if you are in the Seattle area, it's worth a stop by just to look. They do tons of cool stuff.
*I know the tail pipes don't match yet. I am deciding whether I like it sticking out a little or flush. I think I will go with the "sticking out" so it's flush with the rear diffuser.
Rugged? not sure I understand what you mean, but I'll take that as a compliment. I like it, some may too and others will not.
Not sure how much the front chin will keep her down at high speeds, but it looks cool, lol!
and, I don't have to worry about any of it flying off at highway + speeds after a year.
front bumper was OEM from Rose Passion
https://www.rosepassion.com/en/diagr...146?r=kva8bpc2
side skirts were installed by previous owner, but this is a good price (esp if you want to add the rear spats too)
https://www.suncoastparts.com/product/996G1SS.html
Tailbase/wing is the tough one. New is quite expensive ($6-7k).
OEM
https://parts.porschelivermore.com/o...bC1oNi1nYXM%3D
It will take some time to find one used. Be careful as even the embossed markings are seen on some copies (there was one on eBay a while ago). Look for the metal strip that bisects the top vents. Also need to make sure it's not damaged as repair can be cost prohibitive. Check all the forums - I ended up finding one on 6speedonline.
If you can't find a used one, this may be worth going aftermarket (Getty or Mashaw seem to have the best reputations; Mashaw also sells a harness)
Mashaw
http://mashaw.biz/996AeroKit.asp
Definitely worth waiting for a solid used oem lid, however the mashaw lid looks intriguing. The air duct for the aero .1 lid that he advertises is interesting. Ive seen some posts years ago regarding that duct. I wonder if there is any general benefit creating more of a ram/forced style air into the intake. Ive always wondered with the stock lid whether that affect somewhat occurs as well even without the actual directional scoop.
I might pick up one of the GT3Tek front chins so I don't have to pick up a Mk1 Aero bumper. I just don't have the space to store a whole bunch of extra bumpers!
Looking good, Nick! Border's opening soon - you should come up, and we can play with the Turbo
-Matt
My friend and I did the paint work and install on these parts so I think I can give you a fair assessment on the quality of the parts. I'm fortunate to have a good friend who does paint and body work.
The front bumper fitment and quality is perfect as you would expect from a Genuine Porsche part.
The side skirts were okay. If you go with the better bodies side skirts, make sure you let them sit in the sun for a bit and lay them flat so they take their shape before paint and install. There were a few spots in the corners of the skirt that requires a little filler because of small air pockets during manufacturing. It was minimal in comparison to other parts my friend has seen. They include the factory clips to mount the side skirts to the underside of the car. I ended up getting extra clips for some extra security. While the visible edge (below the door) looks good, the edge under the car was wavy once mounted. Heat and the extra clips helped fix that. They took some work but for the price, they're hard to beat. The one weird thing is the driver's side skirt was slightly longer than the passenger side. If you look closely at the pictures below, the skirt is just a little long in front of the rear wheel. The passenger side's skirt length was perfect.
As for the wing. Overall, I'm happy with it. It's pretty passable. The lower edge isn't super flush against the deck lid but the upper edge is perfect. Here is a better pic next to my friend's GT3. Let me know what you think:
Thank you for the quality response! I have a .1 so I wonder if the .2 skirts and wing would look bad without the supporting rear bumper.
Also Polar Silver + Aero = Nutty combo, congrats!
Looking bad ***! Did you find you needed to cut around bottom of Better Bodies side skirts so your jack & pucks wont interfere? My body guy said he had to cut away some underneath on the skirt so they wouldn't be in the way of the rear jack points.
Nick
Thank you! You're correct, it's polar silver. The blue really shows parked next to a GT silver GT3.
Thank you! I think you could pull off the .2 side skirts is the front number was equally as low as the side skirts.
Thank you! Your body guy is right. I didn't trim mine and I regret it every time I put my car on a lift. You can avoid the overlap with the car's jack point when using a floor jack. On a lift, the lift arm pucks/feet are too big and will push on the bottom of the skirts, causing them to flex.

Hi folks,
After seeing all these great looking 996 with the Aerokit............
I'm here hoping and wishing.................. anyone out there happen to have or know someone that have an extra set of an used but not damaged Aerokit sitting around and would like to sell? I hoping to dress up my 996.1 cab in Arctic Silver.
Thank you.
Yes. From a prior owner I’m trying to get her back to original so far taillights and headlights and rims have been changed
so basically I need a front and rear bumper covers
thanks Mike
From a drive yesterday. My friends new 1977 Carrera 3.0 targa. Had to add the numbers for a track day this upcoming Saturday with PCA. New engine management, pagid orange pads, fresh fluids, and alignment. My gfs sisters dog.
I'll post pics of my new to me 2001 Seal Gray Aero car once it comes back from the mechanics shop, in the meantime with regards to the front bumper.
The center middle cutout, why are some cutouts blocked off behind and some are open. I noticed today mine was blocked off but I like the open look better.
Best thread on Rennlist IMO. The best looking 911.
996 505 553 04
01C is the part number for the OE blocked center cover for .1 6sp cars. Costs about $100 new. You could do a number of things to block or modify the opening, but if youre taking the bumper cover off anyway, just do it the way it was engineered. If the center is open, without the center radiator or RS style ducting up over the hood, the air traps above the crash bar area and increases lift.
Are you planning on adding an aero lip to the front?
11/26/21 - This kit is no longer available, NLA. Cheers!
For those of you .2 folks looking for an aero wing, I have a complete, unmolested, not GT3 spoiler still in the factory box. If I decide (well if my wife decides) to sell it, I’d be asking $2,500 shipped. If anyone’s interested, PM me. I bought the full kit but kept my Ruf spoiler on the car.
One step closer to having my aero kit. Found my front bumper and now on the hunt for skirts. I may go through Suncoast since they include all the hardware but wanted to try and maybe score a deal on a used set. What all do I need for the skirts if I find a good deal on a used set?
Very nice. Did you recently buy this car? I almost pulled the trigger on one in VA that looked exactly like this, wondering if it's the same one? 2001 C4, seal gray, SportDesigns w/black centers, lowered on B8/H&R kit.
Right? Someone was interested in it recently, so I pulled it out of the box to make sure all the parts were where they should be. Now I want to put it on the car and see if I like it better than the Ruf.
Congrats Bkey. Welcome to the club. Car looks great and there are a couple of us out here with seal grey cars. I love the color. Color seems to always look a different shade of grey depending on the time of day. And doesn't show dirt. What more can you ask for.
@Bkey
What a great first post and what a great first Porsche. You hit a homerun. And that is likely my twin car but looks like yours is the C2 version. I would love to see your Frunk Sticker / Build date / last 4 of vin.
Great pics also, what city is this?
Congrats!
@Tom Loder
you are making it really hard not to install my Aero kit on my early 99 car! You're gonna miss that white car. I hope to see it on the roads soon. Is it going to a forum member?
I know I will miss it, but its a project and I dont have the time. It is going to a member and he plans send it to Flat 6. So it should be back into the road eventually
I thought I had shared these here, but I guess I hadn't! I actually took these a while ago.

That car was recently posted and didn't meet reserve. They then tried to put it on Craigslist for $45,000 I believe, so it must not have got any traction there either. Not sure what they expect posting it for a second time.
I saw that it had previously been listed recently, but didn't know the back story. It got up to $37,800 with fees, which is actually pretty good money. Per the new listing, and its mentioned twice, it was serviced in November. The service included a LN IMS bearing, clutch, water pump, belts, AOS, thermostat, coolant expansion tank, fluids and spark plugs. Will be interesting to see if the service and replacement of wear items changes the end result.
Yeah I ended up seeing that after I made my post. Interesting move. That's quite a list of maintenance they decided to put in, highly doubt they'll make that back on return. Definitely interested to see what happens.
Agreed. And, unfortunately, I think what the seller is expecting is to get the $40K+ they originally wanted
plus
whatever they paid for the maintenance/upgrades. If I were a betting man, I would expect it to fail to make reserve again.
I bought my car
on that site
in April for $33,333 (+fees) and it's very, very similar other than mileage and Carfax (mine is clean, this one isn't). I don't know what the seller is expecting. It looks like they're looking for Carrera 4S money. Some people really geek out about the early '99s having the mechanical throttle and the ambers, but I don't think it commands
that
much of a premium. (It was incidental to me--I was just looking for a Guards Red 996.1 with an Aerokit.)
I hope I'm wrong and that car finds a good home this time.

Buying an aero car for $45 plus is pretty common, however none that I know of have a ding on the carfax. I think that's the driving factor here. In a few years my guess is the dings won't matter as much as they do now. We are seeing that in the E30 M3 world now. Where even a nice salvage title car can bring a lot of money if it's redone properly.
I don't follow the market as close as some of you guys, but I've never seen an aero 996.1 car sell for $45k in the past several years.
Examples? Seems like 35 is the magic number
Mid 30's is definitely the majority, there have only been two outliers as far as I recall. Now I wouldn't be surprised if dealers have aero's listed for $45k+ though.
https://bringatrailer.com/listing/19...1-carrera-204/
https://bringatrailer.com/listing/19...1-carrera-222/
One dealer wants $89k for his.
I personally paid over $45 for each of mine. The white car will have $50 in it when I'm done.
Soon enough the good examples will be consistantly bringing more than 996 turbo money.
Non aero cars with 60k miles are bringing $32k all day long.
This 996.1 just made this newer GT3 look pedestrian. The newer 911's are great but the 996.1 aero car sets the bar. One of the best looking 911's of all time.
Indeed it is. And it is, coincidentally,
exactly
what I want my car to look like!
I've just gotta get rid of those pesky ambers (heresy, I know) and swap my SportClassic wheels for SportDesign wheels!
Unfortunately, I priced out new lights on Suncoast Porsche, and it's quite a pretty penny:
Clear Side Marker Light Set: $100
Replacement Tail Light - Narrow Body: $900
Head Light Set - Litronic Xenon (plus Triangle Headlight Trim): $4,101
Or about 15% of what I paid for the car (before BaT fees, anyway)! Maybe someday I will find some good condition used ones on eBay or something.
Don’t do that and spoil the clean look
just sell me the front bumper
lol 168 either look is good but the clean look with the black wheels just looks cool
Yes boys the man chucknorris has put the cherry on my cake today he sold me a 996.1 gt3 carbon fiber lip to go with my new bumper so with the carbon fiber hood and lip and new black forgeline rims my car is transformed again

i definitely want your front bumper. Im in NY so I can pickup whenever. If youd like to trade rear bumpers, Id do that as well if youre interested.
Thanks! Yep! Black is nice when its clean. On a windy day it turns brown! Lol! The headlight is a tint film. Although I get compliments on the tint, I removed it and took it back to stock. I just tried it. Honestly, I prefer the look of the stock 996 headlight, especially on the aero kit, such examples on this thread. A lot of beautiful 996 aero MkI and MkII on here!
Its catless with gundo mufflers. When I bought the car it had extremely poor exhaust work on it so it just have everything welded better but I might make a custom x pipe
Sounds great diddy, here’s another route people can go if you are running catted. X pipe 200 cell, small resonators welded in place to muffler bypass pipes. I will be adding better videos once spring arrives. Shockingly minimal drone, lots of sound though, not for everyone
You Tube
Noticed that there arent a lot of 996.2 aeros in this thread, is it more uncommon than the 996.1 aerokit? Was the option not available until later in its production?
Hi,
Adding some pictures of my 996.
My dream for the last 40 years or so have finally come true, I'm a 911-owner :-)
It has the aero-kit but according to the VIN it came from the factory without, don't know if the parts are OEM or aftermarket yet.
It also came with Forest green painted Turbo wheels from the factory, maybe I'll go back to that some day.
I need to do some digging later on due to no papers came with the car, except the service book.
The car is in storage now during the winter, so during spring I will try to understand what I've actually bought, it is not stock in regards to springs and exhaust.
996 gen1
Go to howtoporsche.com which you will find the production numbers by model variant but unfortunately not the number of aero kits. But the bottom line is that the number of 996.1 C2 coupes produced (25K+) were over 2x the number of 996.2 C2 coupes (11K+). It would would be reasonable to assume as a byproduct that there would be more aero kit 996.1 as a result.
Welcome and congrats. Forest green (as with all others) looks great with aero package. Everything appears OEM, check the trunk lid for a Turnwald stamping. Can't tell from the picture but there should be a small additional lip on the lower spoiler as well.
Congrats beautiful color
most 911/aero didnt come from the factory that way a lot were dealer added under your hood should be a factory sticker that lists your cars factory options XAA means its a factory AERO
love the rims by the way
Thanks everybody!
Super pleased with the car so far, a bit harsh ride compared to my Volvo V60 T8, also a bit of drone cruising due some tweaks on the exhaust, but it will be a "Sunday car" so no problems.
It's what You call a 10-feeter, looks good on a distance but there are scratches and dings, it has 170000Km on the clock, but this is what I want a fun, analog and manual car that I wants to be driven.
Initially the wheels was not a keeper but they are growing on me.
My wife and I took a drive out to the Hardy Creek Trailhead in Molalla, OR over the weekend. I took a few pictures while I was there.

I really need to get my front bumper refinished. Something tells me it's going to be
very
pricey. (Isn't everything?)
These are standard facelift C2 sizes. I think thats 18x8 and 18x10, 225s at the front, 265s at the rear (from memory).
I run a 7MM spacer at the front, 15MM at the rear.
Mallone- love your setup- I also run the OZ wheels on my black .1 aero. I have the exact same sized Oz wheels, but went a different route on tire setup. I have a 235 front tire and squeezed 295s out of the rear. No spacers with the setup on pss10s. Your car looks fantastic.
Koni Special Active dampers with Eibach springs. Run a second 10mm spring perch on the rear to get the ride height spot on. Also got a set of Eibach hollow adjustable ARB’s.
A part of me wishes I’d gone with a coil over setup, but I didn’t really need the adjustability and have to say I’ve been impressed with the Koni’s on the road. No firmer than the previous M030 setup at low speed and much better control and damping at high speed. Yet to try it on track though….
Thank you for sharing. I didn’t know Eibach also offered the hollow anti roll bars, labeled under their brand. I did understand GMG offered an Eibach produced version of the hollow bar. Where did you source them?
I sourced the ARB's from Design911 in the UK. Were hard to find elsewhere tbh -
https://www.design911.co.uk/fu/prod1...996-C2-Eibach/
Eibach part number appears to be E7215-320. Came with a set of Polyurethane ARB bushes, which was a nice touch.
Yeah, not worried about whether it will fit or not, wondering about installing a "repaired" bumper.
I do think it's the .1 boxster aero bumper which is unique to the boxster, unlike the .2 and I like the way it looks.
Considering how much the 996 aero bumper is new right now, I'm leaning towards just doing it, just wanted outside opinions.
Rose passion for 996 aero is offering best prices shipped to the US around $2k depending upon dollar value
everyone I asked in the US offered me a BS line
if you have 996 thats the way to go
Dave, don't remember what the original question was for the post, but a guess would be on the number of aerokits for the 996.1 and 996.2. C4S wouldn't be included in the numbers since it doesn't have an aerokit per se.
sorry I meant C4s not C4Ss. Your totals only included C2s.
Rose Passion quoted me $1800 shipped to pdx so Im all over that (the used .1 boxster bumper got snagged while I haggled for $1100 shipped). The GT3 bumper will look awesome and new is better.
Not that anybody in this thread is necessarily interested, but figured an update on the market might be helpful in case any of you with epic aero kits ever damage your front bumper.

Agreed. The photographer really missed an opportunity with the ocean blue car. The pictures make it look black, and in person its a really cool metallic color. It looks great in the sun.

When 993 owners saw the first 996.1 aero cars they immediately got jealous and started body shaming. Dang! “Those GT-1 headlights are so not proper Porsche, darlings.” [sniff, harumph]
That’s like other super models shading Cindy Crawford for being too tall and curvy…”and that mole…hideous!”
GT3 kit installed, just had these taken by local photographer I met at a car meet last week. He does nice work. I am HAPPY! Best $100 I ever spent on this car
Another 1999 Aero is on BAT. This looks like a nice one and might be one to watch. Has sport seats and a LSD. Ocean Blue.

Better Bodies GT3 kit:
Better Bodies - Motorsport Design (betterbodiesmotorsport.com)
Installed NOT using the 3M tape, it's industrial glue and it ain't ever coming off. My body guy didn't want to stand behind a tape job, although it seems to work but for how long?? These are just cell phone pics with old headlights.
old headlights before
Looks good . If you had to do it over again would you change to a different rear wing option ? I like your front lip and rocker covers plus the diffuser but that wing I am not quite sure . Not knocking it just curious . My car is black also .
Good question. I like the soft look of the slightly raised wing now, but I also like the 'Taco look wings' too. All in all, I like it's subtleness with the current setup.
Fitment was pretty darn good overall, material needed expected prep work (more than what they claim, but that's expected)-clean residue off the pieces, sanding, a little trimming, etc.... I had a body shop do all the work. They specialize in high end kits, body repairs. They went with an industrial glue instead of the '3M tape' for longevity. I'd be more than happy to give you the shop's number-PM if you want. They trimmed the sideskirts too underneath so a jack/puck won't tear up the skirt when lifting. I'd buy it again. They do offer a mini duck tail that I thought of doing instead of the wing, but it wasn't quite what I wanted. Armando, at Better Bodies, would work with ya I'm sure if you wanted to do a custom kit pkg.
Good info, thanks! Im still kicking the idea around of either full aero or just adding a lip kit type deal. Ive only really seen these types in lighter colors which can show deficiencies in the kit/paint. I have a black car as well and black can usually hide those small details better.
Thank you!
I was humming and hawing for over a year, chatting with the paint place about custom colours, etc. and we finally settled on this colour. Not quite as blue as Ipanema Blue, but more blue than Ocean Jade Metallic. I'm a fan.
-Matt
This car got a lot of activity in the last day as it went from 30k ish to the selling price of $46,250. So $48,500 with fees. Solid price. Id love to install a LSD in my car at some point.
2003 Speed Yellow GT3 Aero Kit. Factory Speed Yellow center console and yellow seat belts. I have a ton of brand new parts piled up waiting to go on this car. I will start a build thread for it here very soon.
$27k last year seems pretty low in general, XAA? Private sale? Mileage / condition? There were aero's going for well into the 30's and some low 40's last year.
Yeah definitely wasn't many, the black one and there was one red that I recall probably longer than a year ago, then few in 30's like you mentioned. Higher dollar ones then boiled down to condition, much as the mix of 20's/30's.
Exactly. I was selling an example in great condition and there were not too many examples to compare to. Everyone laughed at the $33K example as being too high (it was). I thought I was fair on the pricing I had and was trying to get a quick sale without tire kickers. I literally sold in less than 5 hours.
In hindsight, even selling 6 months later would have taken my price into the mid-to upper $30's. The idea of a 996 aero selling in the $40s was ridiculous.
Like with stocks, you can never predict the market. I had 3 Porsches in my garage and needed to sell one of them, as they weren't getting driven. No regrets, but it is amazing to see the price escalation on a model that everyone loved to bad mouth only 18 months ago.
Car looks great. Would love to hear more of your setup- including suspension, exhaust, weight loss items done to the car, are you on the stock 3.4 block or have you did some internal upgrades?
As the car runs in PCA Class H It is running the stock 3.4 with Upgraded LN cylinders and Carello rods. Otherwise stock Intake, headers and fuel management. Class weight is 3060 pounds with driver so the car weighs 2870 with 75 pounds of ballast. Ac Heat, sunroof and interior are deleted. Shocks are JRZ RS Pro
Thank you for sharing! Best of luck this season- excellent internal upgrades, as well as some of the major weight loss items. Amazing what a great starting point we have from a weight perspective in the 996.1 cars and how much further you can go.
The 996 is a great platform to race and in a relative term fairly cheap I was able to replace the whole left side of the car for less than 3000.00 because used parts are so easy to get.
The engine has 90 hours since the rebuild and has not been any trouble. Only weak spot has been the 1-2 shift fork, I have broken 2, but California Motorsports has a Billet replacement and that has fixed that problem.
That's awesome. Seems like 996s are
the
911 to use as a track car. Since everything else is so wildly expensive and relatively slow, 996s have taken over. Used to be you would see a bunch of g body track rats but not anymore.
My CCW C10 forged monoblocks are finally installed.
Specs (was told) 18x9 et50 245/40/18 needed 15mm spacer to not sit on coilovers, might try 245/35 bc sidewall is very tall.

Generations
Car is now with the shop to get the suspension work done, and a few other things. Last part of the project will be finishing off the interior.
Colour appears more blue in the pictures - it's pretty much a perfect turqoise - halfway in between Ocean Jade and Ipanema Blue.
After purchasing it, at the very start of Covid, I drove it for about 2000 km, and took it to my mech, to get a bunch of things that HAD to be done. New brakes and rotors, OEM; new clutch and lightweight flywheel, which they said were GT3 RS parts (maybe theres overlap?), so, same parts back in; drop the tranny, get a Guard LSD installed; new engine mounts; new coils and leads; new heat shields; Gundo hack on the exhausts; Numeric shifter installed; proper alignment, that wasnt done.
So, after this work was completed they invited me up to the shop, to have a look. What they showed and explained to me was that the motor simply wasnt making oil pressure, they attached a metered oil pressure gauge to the top where the oil pressure sensor normally goes, and it was barely readin 1 bar, whereas I believe it should be in the neighborhood of 5. It sounded a bit tappety too, well a lot, actually,
they said simply at this point, it was likely in need of a new oil pump and hopefully the engine was not damaged. Turns out the oil pump is deep in the center of the engine. Soooooo
I saw the engine last night, apart on the bench, and it is an impressive thing to behold. Fortunately, there was zero damage to the engine anywhere, but the oil pump, she kaput. So, now what do you do, put it all back together with some fresh loctite on some bolts. No sirreee all new parts such as rings, seals, bearings, one-use bolts, etc etc.
Thats the tale of how the rebuild came to pass, nothing dramatic, no connecting rods poking out, it took me a while to process it, but were here now, and so
So it aint cheap but itll be good for another 20+ years, spent with me, until I cant get in and out of it anymore.
Aaaaah, makes me smile.
I feel like Ive snagged an important piece of Porsche history (its the OG GT3, where it all started), a wickedly fun special car to learn and enjoy in!
Wow! Thanks, that quite a thing to hear, Ive never owned
anybodys
dream car. Thank you, makes me feel even more pleased with myselfaround all these .2s Im a bit of a wallflower, theres a lot of them!
Anyhow, thank you for the nice words, and if I ever have a chance to let you take her for a spin, just ask! Youre more than welcome to!

Don't quote me on this, but I'm pretty sure you could. I have 10mm spacers out front, but there was clearance even without them.
It's a GT2 wing and the color is Ocean Blue Metallic. Wouldn't mind a taco though!
Thanks! I'll post more pictures in a few. The aero front bumper is an OEM part from Rose Passion (France). If you search the forum a few other people have purchased from them with positive reviews. It's excellent quality and made of polyurethane, has a part number stamped on it.
I was looking at the actual rim fitting over that combo, the do make a high disk option but I don't know what the measurement of the 380mm + caliper is across.
@escreation
Is that an aftermarket rear decklid? I ask because it appears to have a more pronounced (larger) upper adjustable wing. Could also be my eyes playing tricks on me with the photos. Your car looks unbelievable- very nice
Looks unbelievable! Thanks for the additional photo. Noticed it on the Cargraphic site. Now how can we source one of these? My guess is there will be little luck. That’s such a clean OEM plus look for the taco
Would be cool to see
@Rennline
offer a version of this wing. I see they have the carbon mirrors available now. Limited market but I’d have interest.
@NYPOWR4
we might get into a bidding war, because I’d gladly also take the upper wing insert if he ever decided to part with it!
Yeah cargraphic has the fiberglass version but I want the carbon because of all of my carbon bits already on my car
I and I really do mean name your price I’m ready
I suggested it to rennline to make them in carbon but no response I’d buy 3 just to get it started
@NYPOWR4
It does show a part number for the carbon wing insert on Cargraphic’s main site. Don’t know what kind of luck one of the distributors would have in getting it to the US. I too wish Rennline would get into the Carbon Top wing, among many other things. Hopefully down the road we will see them start pushing out some additional items
Yeah the website is crap even the new redesign one sucks also I’ve called 3 US distributors and ordered 3 wings at each just so they will make/ship them and every time
the reply is it will be 6 months IF IT SHIPS I’m still waiting on replies
Logged a couple hundred miles last weekend enjoying the car, it’s been a great summer season for driving in North East Ohio. The recent UAOS with drainback (ability to run the extra oil with my current FVD deep sump) and new water pump is keeping temps in great order with the higher 90 degree outdoor temps.
The lobsters on Diddy’s .1 aero look freakin good. I’m very surprised how they just ‘work’ so well with the lines of the lower sections. I don’t recall seeing them on any other Mk I cars. Good call Diddy.
Thanks. Ive been very happy with the setup overall. Its been a great car.
Wheel and tire specs if interested:
19x8 et 57 with a 14 mm spacer and 235/35 19; 19x11 et 67 no spacer and 305/30 19; Nitto NT555 G2
Love the car. Curious if these are BBS e88? Looking to get a set for my Aero kit car as well and curious what your wheel / tire setup is like (wheel / tire size and offset) if you don't mind? Looks like your on coils as well?
They are Work Brombachers in 19x8.5 and 19x10.5. I'm running spacers all around, don't recall the sizes at the moment. For suspension I'm running Bilstein PSS9's.
These were from C&C last Sunday at Hayfield's in North Salem, NY. I didn't see the yellow 996 pull in behind me, and never got a chance to talk to the owner. The car was very nice! The red cab was pulling in as I was taking pics and snapped one with him in the shot. The contrast of the colors came out pretty cool. Enjoy.

It has been more than four weeks since start.
A lot of it, our fault in timing with rainy weather and photographer wasted a long time.
Finally we took photos ourselves
It is in the final stages of text being done, then we edit it together.
We are leaving for the beach for a few days, will be back at the end of the week, hopefully it goes live this weekend
I was hesitant about Bat, there seem to be a few people on BaT who make derogatory comments on more a than a few auctions and you can watch the negative impact it has on bidding.
I can't understand this type of behavior when real people are selling their assets at an auction, it's almost Cyber Bullying.
On Rennlist over the years, there might have been one or two, but somehow the other RL members always seem to rise to the occasion and put them in there spot.
Except when talking about brands of engine oil, that has always been a virtual rumble, LOL
Thank you and everyone else for all the tips on do's and don'ts over the years.
Just about every piece of maintenance or upgrade of our car was discussed here over the years
I think our 996 might be one of the longest historically documented on Rennlist that goes to BaT, we have owned it since 01/2014
It has been a little sad, selling a lot of the peripheral items acquired over the years the past week here on marketplace, more than half sold same day as listed. Thank you to those who scooped up some good buys.
Fingers will be crossed for a good outcome
That isn't an OEM color? I have the standard silver ones that I'm looking to refinish some time after the Gemballas. I want my Gemballas to be in that color too, Lexus has an anthracite silver-ish color I was looking at but that color is spot on.
Haven't driven the car for a long time. Had it in the garage on a tender. Either tender or battery failed. I had bought a new battery from Autozone 12/21, had 3 year warranty. Took the battery out, brought it to the local store, the guy didn't even test it after looking up my phone number, grabbed a new one and gave it to me, no charge, 100% coverage. 3 minutes in the store. I felt like I won the lottery!

Thanks
The bumper came from my local OPC.
Others will know for sure, but it is effectively a 996 GT3 front bumper supplied with a smaller splitter and
the ability to accept the centre air inlet blanking plate (because theres no centre radiator)
And the best bit is, its considerably cheaper than the GT3 part :
Aerokit II

GT3

The 996.1 White Aero car with that plate belongs to some realtor in NYC would bought it from Ryan Friedman...I can't remember his Instagram handle at the moment.

Hi, thankyou !!
I didnt actually see the kit prior to it being fitted (my body shop purchased it on my behalf) but my understanding was that everything required to fit the Aerokit bumper to the car is included in the kit, be it the smaller splitter, radiator ducts etc.
The bumper install looks to have used the original centre radiator blanking plate, so I suspect the original side radiator ducts are most likely reused too. The only difference between the C2 and the GT3 radiators is their size (both thickness and height/width)
I hope that helps !
Be careful with that front splitter. I have the same and wanted to replace it. They are like 700 bucks now for a little piece of plastic that used to be 150 bucks shipped.
Took it to Litchfield Distillery and Kent Falls Brewery today with a group of friends. Getting close to the last drive of the year. The hill towns have already put sand/salt out.
Hey Guys, Just figured I'd share a few recent pics of my 996. Insta is jerrym1993. I've been looking for a set of BBS E28/E88 or Porsche Motorsport Cup Car wheels if anyone has any leads on a set.

Nice car !
The Cup E88's are center lock so some work that's probably not worth doing to get them to fit. The 5 lug version do come up for sale from time to time so keep your eyes peeled to FB, Ebay and the marketplace here and good luck ! They'll look great on your car.

Also makes for a good bar - wing is the right height to lean an elbow on and the 3rd break light makes for a great place to rest a glass. Well loved and well used inside and out!
Boy that red Aerokit that just sold on BAT sold well for $30k - I would have loved that if it was manual and went as far as searching all over RL for transmission swap posts. In the end I decided it was better to wait for one that left the factory that way .. which Ill likely regret that decision in 10 years. I am so glad it got the price it did.
moving right along - has anyone ever seen one with a nephrite green interior?

Fellow PCA member sold it to me as good as it looks the other nice item is it has a Flat 6 Innovation, Jake Raby, 3.8 Stage II engine with 4K miles on it. 👍

Question for the group. My .1 car is not a factory XAA car, so no requirements to keep it 100% correct, especially since I will be keeping the ducktail and not getting a Taco.
With that said, I prefer the look of the .2 skirts VS the .1 especially since I feel like the .1 skirts flow very well into the Taco which, again, I wont have.
Any thing I might be missing here as to why I should use the .1 VS .2? Also, how are the skirts attached? I've always hated attaching pieces using 3M tape
Is that your new Aero Rich?? Boy that looks great in red. One thing that really caught my eye though is the headlights - could you get Litronic eggs? I thought they only came later with the clear lenses. My want for those is strong - doubly so if that was an option back in the day. Front wheels - are they 7.5s or 8s?
love those sport seats, the red seat belts .. you know what though - a nephrite green swap would look pretty amazing
.
While at a recent Audi/VW themed car show, a photographer was present that took some great shots of the car without me even knowing. He located me with IG and was kind enough to send me some pictures. Impressive work.
$11,600. I put $11k in as my max bid on the broker I used and couldn't update it fast enough. You have to realize the fees on top of that are around $3k all said and done.

Scene from a Sunday morning cruise. Before deciding to swap to these wheels a while back, I had such a hard time finding a decent photo of a 996.1, with an aerokit, in Arena Red, with these Sport Designs. I hope this fills a gap in the searchable photo archives for others!
You have a stunning car, and the photo is equally beautiful as well. It seriously looks like it belongs in a magazine, or an official advertisement.
I saved a copy.
Speaking of $50k aerokits... first time I've seen a Rainforest Green one!

Hmmm, don't understand...
In the Bat description its says Ruff
used a 993 crankcase
3.6 NA 385hp
water cooled
..?
"RGT model was powered by a 3.6-liter Mezger flat-six that was modified by RUF with a 993-specification crankcase assembly"
Isn't the
993 the last of the air cooled 911'
s...? How did they make the air cooled crankcase into a water cooled engine..?
Wow, talk about engine swaps.....
It's complicated...
The Mezger engine has a crankcase which does not have the cylinders attached (similar to a Lycoming aircraft engine).
The air cooled cylinder/head assemblies are each separate and are bolted to the crankcase. The single overhead cam is in a camshaft box that spans the 3 cylinders on each side.
The 959 used 3 separate air cooled cylinders with a single water cooled 4 valve head on each side.
The 996/997 Mezger engines went a step further. The air cooled crankcase remains the same - it's even got the mounting bosses for the big engine fan.
Each side of the engine has a separate water jacket. The 3 cylinder liners are fitted into the water jacket and have O rings to seal the water. The cylinder head spans all 3 cylinders on a side. All the water pipes are external to the engine. It uses about 30 small hoses to link all the cooling system together and the water pump is a huge separate casting attached to the pulley side of the engine.
All the Mezger 996's up til 2004 used a "964" part number crankcase. After that it got a small redesign with a 996 part number.
I can confirm this one will not be back on the market anytime soon. I've been looking for the right XAA car for a while and this one checked all the boxes for me. I was lucky enough to grab it quickly and its on the way to my garage! It's on the transport and should arrive in GA in a few days. I've been waiting to add my own pics to this thread so those will be coming soon.
Even better yet, these cars need to be in the hands of enthusiasts, nothing wrong with middle men but nice to see it go to an owner who wants it for their own. 👍

When I bought my Aerokit I made up a t-shirt with the silhouette of it. Seems a shame not to share. DM me if youd like the template to use with your cricut. Plainly I can make some more so I might make a limited number of xtra transfers for those to put on their own t-shirts but dont have access to a Cricut.
$4500 for the Taco wing alone. Now the parts are selling for good money hope they never reach a level that has owners parting out these great cars. Long live the Taco 😀

Snagged a pair of new-in-box factory .1 skirts today to go with the factory .1 GT3 bumper my mechanic found in his stash. I'll be doing a aero kit sans taco wing update in the fall :-)
@996love
. Thanks. That's kind. The sport design rims are gt3 ish and i agree they have really grown on me as has the 996 in general. This photo gives a nice, kind of rugged and not just pretty look without being too proud or posed, caught resting and waiting in town. 7 mm front and 15mm rear spacers.
@TheChunkNorris
. Yes, I bet you do. It's not a big town. Still, good on you to recognize it, not the most obvious location. I was just walking across the road from the post office and shot the photo on the run but the car was sitting nice so i snapped it.
Caught your car in the grass at Lime Rock on Saturday. It looks just as good in person. Can't wait to get my aero parts painted and fitted and lower the thing! Are you still running the HR Coils? Any opinions after some more miles?
No spacers. You could probably run a 5mm spacer since I banged the fenders out with a sledge to run my other wheels (Foreglines and 2 sets of OZ's). I do not like using spacers- I prefer wheels that fit properly.
to clarify, the specs of the Advan's fit the car without rolling fenders and running 996 GT3 tire sizes (235/295).
To run 245's up front with My OZ wheels I did have to bang out the fenders. Luckily I have no shame in doing that since my car is a C4 to C2 conversion with 122k miles. I would be hesitant to do that to an original example.
--Aaron
The photographer at the local Porsche dealer wanted some photos of my car. I also realized I didnt have any decent pictures with the car so I took advantage of the situation.
Aaron
Hey Rich,
The car is a MY00. Amber lens have a bornt on date of early 98' (!)
I did a 2wd conversion using the front uprights, shocks, and a 2wd transmission with a locking LSD.

I still have the H&R RSS coilovers on the car. I really like them. They have been great so far and ride way better than the old bilstein/B6 I had before. I also have RSS rear upper adjustable control arms, Phenix engineering adjustable toe links, and solid bushings.

Happy taco tuesday! Outtake from Saturday's BaT event in Boston. There were a bunch of other 996's in the crowd, but we had the only two aeros.
Was tempted to grab a free BaT Alumni license plate frame, but I'm holding out hope that I'll find a period correct one from the dealer mine was delivered to on Long Island that no longer exists.
Yep! I have a few surviving stickers on the hood/trunk/owner's manual, figured it'd be a fun touch to find a plate frame someday.
I'd sent the Land Rover/Jaguar dealer that's currently operating at that address an email as a hail mary, but no dice. I've very passively looked on eBay/Marketplace, but never got around to posting here or similar.

Sorry to hijack the thread with a very quick request - if anyone reading has a car with the little rear lip spoiler (Gurney flap) on their lower spoiler element as per below, (and are willing to take a few measurements for me) please let me know and I'll send you a DM with what I need as I'm trying to reproduce these, as I did for the .1 front lip spoiler. Thanks in advance.
where can we order your front lip spoiler in the US? Have you considered making the cup (extended) version? I believe I saw your journey with production on another forum.
Aaron
I'm in the process of preparing to mould an updated version which is a little deeper than my original one, and also a little thicker in section, more akin to the 'Cup version'. The thread is over on 911UK forum under 'spoiler alert'.
I can send them to the US, but the shipping will cost a little more.

Did most of the aerokit cars just not come with turbo twist wheels? I scrolled through like 20 pages of this thread any didnt see a single pic of one of these cars on the twist wheels.
I am looking at an 00 XAA car for sale that has twists on it, and thought that was a somewhat unique combination.
Interesting observation I remember talking to a guy who sold the first 996 cars his dealership walked each buyer through the options brochure and if buyer added Aero Package they recommended adding Sport Classic or Sport Design wheels as a nice addition. I am thinking Twists on cars was an equal amount to the BBS options.
Rich
Amazing color. I always liked it.
My OEM XAA wasn't a high spec car other than a few checked items (polar silver, litronics, and some other things) but it did come with the twists. I ended up selling them and they are on a 993 now.
My very first drive in it (the actual test drive to be exact)
Then lobsters.
Then E88s.
On the topic of aero - does anyone have a proper DYI write up on how to adjust the wing angle to the mid point and highest setting as seen in the last photo?
I have tried, even had the entire middle wing section off the car, but just can't figure it out.
And yes, I know, I know, adjusting the wing angle is not for street use
Thanks in advance.
1.unscrew the bolts that fix the metal bracket to the underside of the wing. Do it on both sides.
2. lift the trailing edge of the wing up so far, that you can pull the pin that is attached to each bracket out of the hole in the wing stay and put it into the next higher or uppermost hole.
Repeat on the other side.
3. Lower wing and put the bolts back on each side to re-attach bracket to wing and torque them to 10Nm if M6.
I too am not a fan of black wheels on any cars in fact when I bought my F150 had dealer switch out the wheels to silver but gotta say the way you did them look nice.
Rich
My favorite 996 wheels are Sport Design.
Id love to have the Sport Design wheels, but theyre just out of budget. I would actually really like to try the two tone Fuchs wheels, but I cant decide whether they look good on the 996 or not.
Previous mockup was with the Turbo Twist wheels.
Below is the Turbo Look wheels. I think I like the Turbo Twist better, but finding a cheap pair of 18x10 Turbo Twists sounds like a difficult task. I can pick up a full set of the Turbo Look wheels locally for like $400.
I installed my new front splitter from
@Interference Fit
Fit and finish is OEM, and seems more flexible then my original that was chewed up (which is great!).
I did order an extra if anyone needs one, it made sense to order a few so we don't have to pay the crazy amount Porsche is asking for these now stateside.

I like the two tone black turbo twists. I think these cars are too swoopy for the Fuchs, they feel anachronistic, although I do like them on the classics. The turbos are a swoopy 5 spoke and equally as fitting for these cars as the Fuchs were on older 911s. Making the turbos two tone black is a decision, but seems more like a nod to the Fuchs styling of old and gives these cars an appropriate retro vibe.
Hey Rich, way to go!
I got some great shots at TOTD for a small air-cooled rally I attended. I broke the rules with the water-cooled car, but it was well worth it.
--Aaron
This one sold over the weekend, 1999 XAA factory Aero six speed coupe, has a rebuilt title as it was totaled by an insurance company, engine had zero compression in cylinder 6, interesting project sold for $10K
Rich
With the twist style wheels, have you considered color matching the centers? Great era correct look, especially with the aero. 😁
This guy did color matched wheels in white on his aero car, can see them mounted at 8:14.
You Tube
I actually wound up with the .2 style twist wheels and had them painted just in the normal silver color. I still havent pulled the white wrap off of my car, so I figured silver would be best for now. I may refinish the wheels again in a few years, but there are other more pressing repairs and upgrades that are fighting over the budget.
What's the deal with the rear bumper pieces on these aerokit cars? Talking about the canard things on the sides. It looks like maybe 1/4 of them have it. Was it an additional option or just something certain years got?
They are officially called Rear GT Trim but often referred to as winglets or spats.
They came on the 99-01 aerokit cars, but I think you could opt to not have them installed on the car. Someone else can correct me if I am wrong, but the theory I have seen is that a lot of people just didnt like them and deleted them from their builds.
Interesting! Thanks for the info. Mine is a 2001 and has the rear winglets but I don't think it's a factory aero kit according to the options codes. I ordered a taco wing from Getty Design this week to complete the look.
A lot of people must have added them afterwards then. Ive seen a lot of XAA car with them, but without XAD. My car is an XAA vehicle with them, but I didnt order the car new, so who knows? I feel like the XAD code is rare, even among XAA cars with the spats installed.
On wheel center color matching car, probably OK for the lighter colors, but gets lost on dark colors. Example TheChunkNorris C2 car, wheels are just a black area visually, no contrast, they just disappear. Same response on the pumpkins - keep them orange. My opinion, I like color contrast, on darker cars. Some blue colors are borderline, don't know how they would turn out. But my opinion doesn't matter, it is your car, make it your way.
I wonder if that RS bumper (TheChunkNorris) would fit on a C4S? Rads are bigger and no center rad, so doing it might be a challenge, not to mention side air intakes smaller. Dunno, I just like the "air slots" where bumper meets the hood. Comments from knowledgeables?
YMMV

but I have a question who did the revo ECU and where did you get the carbon fiber arm rest
thanks
Been looking for a 987 or 981 recently and pulled the trigger on this mk1 yesterday. It's a tip with a cracked CF wheel, but also a SoCal car that may have another 100k in the engine.
Used to have a 6spd mk2 C2 that I put a lot of time & $ into, photos below. Excited to log more 996 miles.
I saw that one for sale on EBay at that price point even a tip with 103K miles was a good buy I just backed off due to transport costs to Florida, good luck with the car.
Rich
Looks amazing. Love the gold BBS. I cant find the info on who did the Revo tune. It was done by the prior owner. I did the carbon arm rest back in 09 but dont have the info on it in my binder.

Drove out to Hudson, NY for a coffeeshop "launch party" with a friend and his 996TT, and I ended up across the street from a GT3. Had to get a .1 vs .2 photo!
Solid >300mi day with some great roads on the way home.
My taco wing from Getty Design showed up yesterday. I've already test fit it and dropped it off for body and paint. It did bolt right up just as they advertised. I think It really ties the whole look of this car together better.
Side question - On a genuine aero kit taco wing, what do the grilles look like? Getty included some expanded aluminum to keep debris out
Such a brilliant and deep character. Also looking forward to posting my car with the factory aero bumper and skirts it's having put on this week! Saw it in the spray booth yesterday and I can't wait to have it back.
Great looking car. Which blue is it?
You can see the grilles here, albeit at an angle. Agree that, at least with 996s, and particularly with the .1s, aero completes the design.
Can I participate with my 2/3s aero? Factory bumper and factory skirts, but not born on the car. A friend referred to it as Aero Touring lol. Im thinking ducktail longterm, but the call of the taco wing is undeniable. The car has a 3.8 build and the ducktail is an appealing option bc it feels a little more unique and a little less I wish I was a GT3 in spirit.
